Cold Steel - Viking Sword

- The typical Viking sword of the 9th and 10th centuries featured a long wide blade with a broad central fuller and two keen edges. The preferred stroke with this ferocious weapon was a determined slash or mighty chopping blow. A simple but functional guard with forward curving quillons was often utilized and combined with an equally utilitarian wooden handle that was covered with leather, bone, or even cast in brass. What really made the Viking Sword so distinctively recognizable from its contemporaries was the heavy 5 lobed pommel used to balance the long blade and keep it lively in the hand.
Cold Steels modern interpretation of this sword has a super wide, double edged blade that is hand forged out of high carbon steel and then polished to a brilliant lustre. The wooden handle is covered in leather and is supported by a simple, elegant guard at one end and an equally handsome 5 lobed pommel at the other. This battle ready beast comes with twin combat sharp edges that are safely and securely sheathed in a beautiful wood and leather scabbard that is further reinforced with a highly polished steel chape and throat.

Not much fun going into a battlefield without mail knowing just one hit of these razor sharp swords would slice you open like it was nothing.
Somebody please make a Cold Steel compilation but with lightsabers edited over the swords and knives
I would like to see you try cutting your own spear/halberd/warhammer/viking axe shafts with your swords, axes, machetes, and tomahawks. That would be an interesting test.
its hard to cut the handle of a axe or a spear when a person hold it. and its useless
@@donnydonowitz9424 no one said any thing about "while holding it".

Nice Toy Story Reference
I am in love with Cold Steel!
Please, read all the facts before blindly loving cold steel. Cold steel fanboys are hated throughout the sword community. What they don't tell you in their videos are the important stuff, like how well made their swords are, how they are made, their construction, and most importantly the balance/blade work. Yes, their blades seem to be tough and sharp when cutting pigs, but all they do is overswing, overswing, overswing. And their swords lend themselves to that. Get an arms&armour sword, or an Albion. Great quality, and good construction.
Sam Williams Sir I don't think you get what cold steel swords are for. They are not for fine swordsmanship they are for going into your back yard and chopping up 2x4's and other things you would not even think about hitting with you $2000 Albion sword. I have the cold steel viking sword and I can tell you it's way too heavy and does in fact over swing, but that's not the point. the point is you can go use and abuse it and it can take all of it.
lostworld762x39mm if you want something to chop things with, then get an axe.
What I meant by my comment was that there are better brands that make swords, and cold steel swords are just strong blades, with average-to-poor fittings. If I wanted a backyard chopper, I would get some hanwei sword. Good price, good quality, good toughness.
Sam Williams I had a Hanwei pudao but I bent the blade cutting up some bamboo so ever since then iv'e been a cold steel guy. also axes aren't as cool a swords.
Now that's some fine craftsmanship!
Very cool!
I saw one of these for sale at a Highland games. I have to admit it's the first "sword", that's not a costume piece, that I would seriously consider. I liked its weight and balance. Wife said already had too many "pointy things", so not this summer, maybe this winter :-D
+Kirito: The Dragon-slayer! As a woman I approve of this comment. If it's discretionary money that isn't needed for important things like rent, bills, food ETC. Than I see no reason why someone shouldn't spend it on hobbies or toys they enjoy. Granted I am somewhat biased in that I like weapons.:)
If you have to ask your wife, you shouldn't have a sword anyway.
Use some wisdom, and keep that to yourself...cuck.
Lol u are the bottom then
"Take THAT, cardboard man!!!" ;)

meat in the boot
There's a steak in my boot
I know a girl that likes that
best sword ever
Everytime they cut the spear I imagine fire emblem. "Your iron spear broke" *sad tune plays*
The grip is a bit too long for a viking sword, they typically had short grips of - on average - about 9cm. It was meant to be tight on the hand.
+Jake Williams Von Starcher We Vikings have very large hands. Just sayin' :-)
That's the historical issue you have?
One of many to be sure. Long grips are a very common issue with almost every lower end Viking sword reproduction.
+Jake Williams Von Starcher it's not meant to be 100 % historically accurate, it just has the name Viking Sword because it is pretty accurate and looks about the same, doesn't matter if it isn't 100 % as long as it looks, works and feels good, then there is no problem.
Tattletale.. No they didn't moron.. get off Wikipedia
Never seen Skallagrim use a pig head before.
This is so fucking bad ass! Man, what I wouldn't give for one of these...
what a satisfaction
0:19-0:32 Talk about a splitting headache!
Boo
I'm stuck between the this one, the 1815 saber, and the shamshir. which one is best/pros and cons?
Its more deadly than fire guns ‼
I think it don't need music because it's nice ASMR
Not sure as only used to cut soft items. What about sword on sword to see how blade handles?
Those viking sure knew how to make their weapons
Vikings were the best wariors! So fearless and brutal!
From looking at it, I think that's an Anglo-Saxon sword, not a Viking sword. I recognize the design in the pommel being from a sword found in England dated before the Vikings landed.
It's a fairly common design in post-classical and Dark Ages Germanic swords.
It's actualy a Frankish/Norman design, and it was the adopted design by The Scandinavians.
Leaving out the fact that the pommel is screwed onto the tang and snaps off easily with any force whatsoever.
You guys should try out some weapons on some Chain-mail Armour.
How heavy is it?
Najbolji mač na svijetu
Fun fact, this sword has ben used in a swedish school attack
It's nut fun at al
Three pepole died
You can obviously dont take a dark joke, and you spelld wrong on ”nut” you fucking moron

For the tube u guya should try to cut a pise and try to hit it again during the small time that it last on the air
I thought it was ULFBERHT with pointy tip and dull sides.....

Skyrim has katanas too but it's not a very important weapon in the game.
Minecraft diamond sword:
Morton said that "grips" are 8.3cm long. LOL. That's only 3.2 inches. I couldn't hold that with any confidence in my hand.
I've seen real Danish swords in museums and the hilt looks much longer than 3.2 inches
Do they still screw on their pommels?
I've been wondering if I bought a rip off too
0:59 Seems pretty light
The heel of my shoe can block a full swing of a sword.
lol
Send this to a vegan rofl
I hate the handle why is it so long it's meant to restrict your grip to force a certain style
Does anyone else own? I am wondering why the grip feels so narrow in my hand. It's uncomfortable.
yes I also own one and yes the grip is horrible it's hard to do any sword work or effective cutting because you can't get off a strong swing. it's a beautiful sword but the narrow ruler stick like grip totally ruins it for me wish I didn't buy it. there goes 300 bucks on a wall hanger
+matthew wells Just wrap something around it, some leather maybe or that stuff they use for tennis racquets, then its no longer too narrow, problem solved.
the Trolhättan sword school attack in Sweden, The murderer used this sword to kill three people.
Too bad he did not take out some politicians or the third world sexual assault invaders.
+Miratesus I read in news articles that he used a samurai sword...
John Johnson he didn't it was this coldsteel viking sword.
Miratesus Clearly news outlets think all swords are Japanese or something.
John Johnson journalists are stupid.
always imagined vikings swords were a lot wider and a little shorter
Now I know never to hide steak in my boots...
THERE'S A STEAK IN MY BOOT
it look like a medieval sword or a normal sword
меч лучший из выпущенных, но когда будет скьявона, желательно как у Карла 4 Габсбурга
don't worry angry bird your enemy has been decapitated and used for sword training
kids in africa could've eaten that sword
I hope that wasn't one of the spears you sell.
My sword takes edge damage from cutting a iphone charger
Not by the hair of my chiny chin...well shit, i no longer have a chin
Fuckin shield doesn't safe you any more....
I have an idea for you; why not show us a demonstration video that really sets your steel apart from other edged weapons? In stead of showing us things any half decent blade can do. If your products are among the best blades on the market, then please prove it.
The sword of my ancestors
Yes because I'm going to trust you over the title of the video.
Okay well I thought it was a sword of the vikings like they say in the video so I commented that it is the sword of my ancestors. I'm not ganna apologise for being fooled by a title of a video. And no I don't whats that got to do with anything?
+Luis The fuller is too long, and the crossguard is curved, vikings had straight crossguards, saxons had curved. The edge on a viking sword would start from the hilt and wouldn't have that blunt section (can't remember what that part is called) at the base of the blade.
+Jarrod Watson Your name is not scandinavian, i would love to know how vikings were your ancestors. :P
Madao My maternal great grandmother comes from a family that were Scottish Lords centuries ago and they descend from some Kings of Scotland one of them is Robert the Bruce and he descends from William the Conqueror and William is the great great great grandson of Rollo who was the viking warrior that founded Normandy and obviously his ancestors were vikings aswell. When I said Vikings were my ancestors I didn't mean all or most of my ancestors just some, but given vikings haven't been around since 1000 years ago that would apply to anyone who says vikings are there ancestors. I'm actually descended from Rollo through three different people which is pretty weird cause that means a little bit of cousin fucking but it's distant cousins so it's not that bad lol. Not to trying to brag at all about all this it's just I thought my ancestors wouldn't even be notable enough that I would be able to trace them back to longer than the info my family actually had and I ended up being descended from a bunch of kings, lords, dukes and even an Emperor from over 900 years ago and I even managed to trace on line back 1700 years but there was so little info on them it was just names and who there fathers were.
*there's meat in the boot*
why cut a boot ? an i would totally shave myself with that.
why not cut a leather boot with meat in it is the question
weizenale yes, but what about the other one.... it'll be lonely now :P
v3ltrucci
maybe it can find a home with someone with one foot
The fuller is all wrong on this sword. It should go all the way to the hilt.
You can cut paper but why can't you cut through a pigs head?
Yeah, sorry to break it to you but bone is slightly harder than paper...
Eeeeeuuuuuu cold steel products 😝.
Out of stock sadly
Still Out of Stock!
Now do that to a homeless person.
In islamic countries they can find jobs where you use real humans instead of some meat
looks too heavy for a one handed sword.
It is balanced more towards the front and weighs approximately 1 kg (or 37 oz): Quite light for a one-handed sword, in fact!
Ugly sword. If I were to buy a viking sword I would get an Albion. Cold Steel knives on the other hand... pretty damn good. :)
swords are not used for protection because anyone that used one on another person would look really bad to a Jury. Also the old adage of bringing a blade to a gunfight would apply. The Junk Cold steel sells is garbage madA good se in India. these guys in this vid swing swords like a baseball bat...
