The basic test of a new sword back was to give a couple chops into a stump and a couple good flexes. Blade HQ definitely owes you a new sword.

Epic! This was like an outtake from 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. How could you possibly forgot to include a codpiece with your armor? Rookie mistake! The sword snapping is evidence that the Curse of Lynn selling Cold Steel is REAL, and all new Cold Steel blades are now damned. The good news is that if you have a belt grinder and a new handle, you now are the proud owner of a short sword and a dagger. Good times!

My first knife was a Christmas present to myself. A Cold Steel Mini Tanto in 1996, since discontinued. It was the single knife of my collection for 25 years. Now, well probably over 100. Cold Steel appeals to my inner child of every year.

Best thing to do with a sword like this. Take a bottle of beer, place the tip of the sword under the cap, then hold sword and bottle and lazily drop the sword on its pommel. A drop of about 10cm or 3 banana diameters should do the trick and send the cap flying. Coolest way to open a beer.
Good to know how crappy ColdSteel swords are (and they are not even cheap).
Also, I would say this is a warranty case. A sword should take a lot of more impact. Eventually, all swords (that get used) break but even a cheap Hanwei training sword will last you about 1-1.5 years of weekly training.
