Cold Steel - Warrior Series Japanese Swords

  • Our groundbreaking Emperor Series swords proved a huge hit with our customers. Their phenomenal cutting performance and durability took the industry by storm. However, we were aware that some of our fans and customers wanted a true battle ready sword, but hoped to find one at an even more affordable price.
With the creation of our Warrior Series we addressed this problem directly. We were able to reduce the costliness of the blades by omitting the expensive mirror polishing that we used on our Emperor Swords, making a new series of Japanese swords that still packed an astounding amount of performance, but with a more practical finish.
The Warrior Series swords share the same steel, heat treatment, and sharpness as their more expensive Emperor brethren. They have the same Samé covered, cord wrapped handles and quality fittings. In fact they mirror the Emperor Series in almost every respect except that they don't feature the deep and lustrous hand polish of their counterparts.
So, if you are in the market for a strong, good looking, reasonably priced Japanese sword with all of the battle ready performance that you have come to expect from Cold Steel, we know you'll be happy to own one of our Warrior Series swords.
All swords in the Warrior Series come complete with a black lacquered scabbard and a violet blue cover bag for storage and travel.

So I've ranked the ability of these guys from the video based on their positioning and basically how effectively they cut.
    1. The taller guy with the sandy hair and beard. He cuts very precisely, doesn't use too much force, and makes sure he returns the blade to it's original position. I love watching him for tips.
    2. The more bulky guy with the longest hair of the testers. Very smooth and precise, he lines up multiple cuts very well.
    3. The more well built guy with the hair that is shaved on the sides and longer on the top. He's similar to number one in making precise swings and doesn't over swing most of the time.
    4. The man, the legend, the guy I keep forgetting his name who shouts "Die/Dai" most of the time. He's been the business for a pretty long time, but it doesn't help his swing much. Sometimes the force he puts in is a bit too much, and sometimes he doesn't get that wrist/forearm action that he needs to cut through that last mat. Not like these rankings matter too much, as long as they're selling product and having fun testing these nicely forged weapons.
    5. The bald guy. This guy needs some major lessons, half the time he swings the sword like a baseball bat. He always looks like he's not having too much fun. Less waist action and more fine control dude, or like a healthy balance of both. Either way, he's unfortunately in last place. Take some tips from number one, please.
And that concludes the rankings. I love watching these Cold Steel testing videos, it's not just bottles and gallons of water, it's meat and bones and tatami mats. The stabbing through car hoods makes me cringe in the classic sense of the word. You're gonna scratch up the blade man!

Bob Haynes thanks for helping me remember. Yknow, for a president of one of the most consistent quality blades, he would polish his swings. Like the velocity isn’t bad but I wish everyone could recover their swings better instead of just holding the stance at the end. I’ve seen this video dozens of times along with others, both earlier and later, and it just seems kind of weird.

@@123gameloverGood observations. I think the holding of the position after the cut is for dramatic effect. It's not like they have to recover immediately out of fear of an attack, it's just a cutting demonstration. Your critique of the cutting techniques used is fair, although I think the bald guy just likes to be focused when he's cutting, maybe that's why he doesn't look happy lol. I myself have tried to get tips for slashing and cutting by watching these guys. Water bottles don't stand a chance against me now!👍🔪🗡️

I had a friend who was a great gunsmith, but couldn't hit anything farther than 20 yards. With a rifle. With a scope. But he did some of the finest quality machining I ever saw, he just couldn't use his own product. You don't see fat old ladies from Mexico or India wearing Victoria's Secret lingerie down the aisle do you? So why have an amateur demonstrate the cutting ability of a fine blade? And I am not just being a dick here, I have practiced kenjutsu for about the last 5 years, and after all that time, I am still amateur myself, but these guys look like they are swinging an axe and chopping fire wood. Well, there's something that botheres me:
at 6:13 the next few seconds there is a jumpcut while he cuts 4 pigs (without intestines)
The first part before the jumpcut you can clearly see how far the rest of the pigs fell, as the sword reaches the fourth pig. The amount of drop is minimal. Then, in the next cut, the undersides of the pigs are gone while the sword cuts through the fourth pig.
In addition to that, you can clearly see a second cut in the fourth pig rest that is still hanging.
The sword didn't cut through all 4 pigs, they tried to hide it with a jumpcut.
In itself that wouldn't be a problem for me, as I just witnessed that it can cut extremely well, although, the idea of trying to hide the result of the test in this manipulative way makes me reconsider. Do I want to buy from a company that tries to cover up what in their opinion looks like a failure?
You should have just showed us the sword cutting through 3 and a half pigs, without the jumpcut to the next shot of it cutting the fourth. That would have shown that the company is indeed trustworthy and displays everything as it is.
