Haha... in the LPL nice guy voice “ it’s hard to imagine any lock that resists picking less than this one” as he smiles at master lock and flicks them on the forehead 🤣😂🤣
"It's hard to imagine a lock that resists picking less than this one." Absolutely eviscerated... Honestly, aren't most hitches going to have the little latch that slides forward that you put a pin in to actually keep it connected to the ball? If you're going to lock it, can't you just put a ball inside, latch it, and put a lock through instead of a pin? If it's just going to be an ordinary keyed lock then I don't see how this would be any more effective even if it *couldn't* be picked by just shoving a pick inside and doing nothing else.
Yes you can put a ball inside and latch it then lock the latch. However, if you look at the design of the hitch, there is a bolt/nut that adjusts the tension of the hitch on the ball by moving a plate closer to the ball. This could be relatively easily adjusted so the ball that is inserted can be removed and then tightened against the ball on the vehicle taking the trailer. I helped my dad do this once when the lock on his trailer was rusted so bad it would not unlock. We had to cut the lock off when we got the trailer back home.
I am a retired lawyer, but don't worry my lock picking skills are only up to raking. I just can't get to the pin picking stage. I had a small (14 foot) boat and trailer, stored in an apartment house parking lot, stolen in about 1970. My only security was a Master Lock padlock on the trailer ball latch and the thief or thieves cut the shackle. I bought another boat and trailer to replace it, and installed a, then current model, Master Lock trailer coupler lock. It seems like it was more robust than the model 377DAT in the video, with its fairly standard 4 pin tumbler cylinder. I parked the trailer in a more secure location and supplemented the lock with a boat tilt alarm, which activated the boat's horn. That boat was not stolen and served me well for many years, before my lifestyle changed and I sold the boat.
