He won the lotto when he married his wife that makes 90k working part time
Facts!
Remember that's in CAD.
90K CAD is still really good in Canada
đ€Ł Part time! Wow is this real?
It's only probably 48k in us dollars which is really good
I found $20 in my jeans pocket the other day, so on a personal happiness level, I can relate. đ
đ...isnât finding money you didnât realize you still had an awesome feeling!!??
plot twist, they were your boyfriends jeans lol
Love â€ïž finding money in my pant pockets.
You're in the right mindset my friend đ
I won $1000 on a $50 scratch off three years ago and I still speak of it like it was the most important thing ever
jesus i didnt even know they made them that expensive.. yall are crazy
I won $500 on a $10 scratch off a couple years ago, I can relate.
At least you started baby step 1.
My advice, donât tell anyone but your partner. Unless you want all types of people asking you for money every time they are in a hole.
In Canada you can't really collect your lottery gains anonymously. It is mandatory to take a public picture with your cheque
I think the smartest thing to do when you find yourself in that situation is to call or message every single person that you knew back in school and all of your distant relatives on Facebook or Instagram and ask them for money because you canât pay rent or something like that because then youâll find out who is real or not after you announce that you won the lottery. So that way when they come asking you for money when they find out that you won the lottery you can just easily reject them with no guilt.
Nick Johnson thatâs a great idea đ
perotal most states also require you to be announced. There is a loophole that you can claim it through a business you create so your name isnât really attached and in the public eye.
Let me help you out with this one: Don't even tell your partner, or they will also put you in a hole!
Whoa no taxes on lottery winnings? Now that has got to be truly life changing when you win
I was surprised, taxes are pretty high in Canada overall.
@@MR3DDev I'm just shocked no group has tried to get their hands on that money by taxing it
TechYK As a Canadian who did live in the States for several years and married an American it is true that their is no tax on lotteries or gaming. The higher taxes you refer to includes universal healthcare so everyone is covered whether rich or poor. If you add what many Americans pay for their healthcare on top of their income tax it is pretty comparable to most States except those states who donât have state tax. There are a few states such as NY and California who pay more
It depends on which province because there's def taxes in Quebec đ€
@@TheLifeJOGJourneyofGrowth Nobody includes Quebec as part of Canada lol
Most people say lotteries ruin their lives bc most winners simply spend mindlessly and it actually makes them end up depressed, broke and unhappy. Glad this guy's managing it pretty well
the lottery winners that ruin there life are usually the big ticket winners multi million tickets (mega millions + powerball). REalistically even 1 million untaxed is s a huge leap forward but not enough to retire off right for two people
@@swimstud567 agreed & I was surprised lottos aren't taxed here in Canada!

This man just won at life! Seems like he already had good money habits so if anything it was a great boost to their lives financially.
In Canada, we do not have the outrageous student loan debt that I am hearing on this channel that Americans have.
@@clarifyingquestions Guess prices much cheaper in Canada for college.

Colleen Jones yeah but you still have credit card debt.
If I won the lottery I wouldn't let anyone except my significant other know. Too many lottery nightmares stories about jealous family members!
@Zach Ginn..I agree but in many places you canât be an anonymous winner which I think sucks. It puts the winner in jeopardy, people are NUTS nowadays!
Shaun Johnson thereâs a video on YT about lottery disaster stories and one was a spouse who tried to keep the winnings secret before the divorce. They ended up by another judge to turn over the entire winnings to the ex spouse
But what do I do when they ask about my new Lamborghini?

The numbers are in.
We've studied thousands of lottery winners, and the one thing they all have in common is that they invested in lottery tickets. That's what we teach here.
True statement. Also, among all of the people who have lost money in the lotter, the one thing they all have in common is that they played the lottery.
Wooooooow....with the knowledge I have now, I would never ever be broke. Financial literacy is everything.
Husband: $240,000 CAD = $176,172 USD
Wife: $90,000 CAD = $66,068.86 USD
Lottery: $1,000,000 CAD = $734,098.49 USD
Lottery/game show winnings are taxed more around 50% so USD 1M after tax is 500K
Alex Pasko I wasnât factoring taxes. I was only converting Canadian dollars to U.S. dollars. The taxes however depend on where you bought the ticket. In the U.S. everyone has to pay the federal rate, but depending on where youâre at you may also have to pay state and even a local tax. Some states in the U.S. you only pay the federal rate. It can make a huge difference.

Lawyer making $240k wondering how he could afford a purty shotgunđ§đ€š
@@aaaaaaa4821 Sounds realistic
after he paid off his debt lets assume he has $800k left. if he invested all of that for 30 years at a 7% return he would have over $6m. if it was a 12% average return which dave uses in examples but i think is a bit unrealistic, he would have almost $24m!
thats assuming he doesn't invest any of the massive $330k income he and his wife have.
if he lives on 100k a year and invests 220k and the 800k lottery winnings he would have $29m from a 7% average return or 86m if he gets a 12% average return.
either way, if he invests he will retire very wealthy and still have a large budget for life expenses from today onward. this dude is indeed very lucky.

I would say that winning money can be a blessing and a curse. most people canât handle having too much money. And many lose it all in a few years. There Attitude Remains the same with of without the money
His question was more about staying out of debt and growing his wealth, not about how to give all of his money away ...
"Advice" like this really makes me feel uncomfortable. I feel like the studio is hoping they're get a large donation from the caller as a "thank you for telling me to give my money away, I feel really good about myself now".
yeah, the guy worth 300m is telling the guy worth 1m to start giving away a bunch of money lol... teach him how to invest it and grow it to 10m then maybe talk about charity
Most people aren't giving their money to for profit organizations as charity. They give them to nonprofits. Also, why would a guy worth 200 million be hoping for someone to give him a large donation? A $250,000 check would is only .125% of Dave's net worth.
