I don't believe 1 bit of that call!
It sounds like his Mom has a very expensive life style, and just got cut off by her ex-husband. Now she wants her son to foot the bill for her life style. What the son can do is buy his own medium sized house, and follow Dave's baby steps to secure his own financial situation. At that point, he can say, hey Mom, if you want, you can move in with me, for very little extra expense. But I can't pay for your life style for the next 20 years.
Sorry not sorry, but I can't feel any sympathy for someone who is broke while making 15k per month for doing nothing.
Why donât you make $15,000 monthly for doing ânothing?â It took an incredible amount of smartness on her part to get to this point.
@@thecatnextdoor12 it took being married and getting divorced. Literally anyone can do that. I make 6k per month and have zero financial issues.
Adam Gronvold Your wife couldnât. No offense, stating the fact.
@@thecatnextdoor12 well obviously. I don't make enough to put out that much vaginamony. Also, looks are in no way a skill.
Oh and of course there's the fact that we don't live in a state that participates in the alimony scam. And how intelligent is she exactly if she can't make 180k per year work?
Weird flex, but okay
Exactly what I was thinking.
So true
There's a lot missing from the story. Maybe the mom is gambling addict or something. Or she employs and pays her son a salary... who knows...
Weirder OP comment.
Staying his mom who gets $15K/month while he makes $200K isn't flexing.
They are not exactly the typical average family.

If she really is in a bad situation, then that means she spent close to 900k in 5 years. The woman must be clueless.
It is quite possible that she has a very expensive house with a mortgage that she got in the divorce. Alimony is taxable income, so she is probably looking at $11k or $12k/month after tax. If she's in a $2M+ house with a mortgage, the payments could easily be $10k a month. My guess would be she took the house in the divorce, but the alimony was barely enough to keep her above water.
@@darkforcesjedi Yeah. It's quite possible she took an expensive house with barely any equity in with a 30-year mortgage. That's a recipe for throwing lots of $$$ down the drain.
She should have sold the house after the divorce and downgraded her lifestyle to a much more reasonable one. I bet most of her money went to the house.
@@lynninfinite I bet when she was married she didn't make any significant money decisions, making her clueless on how life works. She needs to be pampered because she's ignorant. There are a lot of old ladies like that, especially if they get divorced or widowed.

15k a month times 5-6 years is approximately a million dollars and yet his mom needs help. This makes absolutely no sense.
she's clearly a gold digger that never learned how to be independent and save for the future. the money supply has been shut off and she is in a panic.
She upped her lifestyle.
God's punishment. She is the reason for the divorce. She doesn't deserve this money. America is bad for alimony.
@Luis For someone his age, this is extremely likely. The contract probably isn't for a full year either.
Something in this story is being left out or lied about. Doesn't even come close to passing the smell test from several details and the guys for lack of a better term "wimpy" attitude.

@@colorfulcodes exactly! donât marry poor a woman or poor man.

Even if you do marry someone poorer than you, you're not expected to change their job title or automatically offer a comfort of not having to do the extra work that they would've done if you were not in that relationship. Same as these callers you see here, just because you make 200/4/5/6k a year doesn't mean a lot if the job's been handed down through relationships of your parents/family have created and they give you the opportunity to earn that. A lot of ppl making over 100k a year couldn't even tell you where they spend 3/4 of their monthly income. My point being, don't stuff up your nose at someone that has less $ to show for in the bank just because you're now in a better position, remember where you started and remember the people who landed a hand and gave you trust so you can pull yourself back up. Look to do the same where it makes sense.
It doesnât work that wayđ€Ł
Sometimes I donât understand how these ridiculous stories come to be, how does she squander over 180k year into nothing ?
Easy come easy go. $15k/month in a big nice house means she married someone really wealthy. Once you live that lifestyle its hard to give it up and then when you divorce and hear $180k per year just because you were once married to someone why stop spending? Imagine if you still got 25% of your regular salary from any of your prior jobs. Why stop spending that paycheck?
Money leaves just as easily as it came in. Treat your income as if you have nothing and youâll never be broke!

Alimony of 15k a month is insane. He should be asking her where all the money has gone! At the very most you should be paying rent to your mother, nothing more.
The house payment is most likely 6 to 7 utilities 1k then bigger car note and debt.
People think rich folks have it made, nope they just have bigger bills and live paycheck to paycheck and just look nicer and eat better. Maybe go more vacations đ€ but Not now!!
@@FierceFamily If they want to stay rich $15K a month makes it easy. An unmarried person can downsize and live securely on a third of that, even less. Wt heck. 15000 a month!?!? I am raising 5 kids on 90000 a year. My husband and I work hard. It is called budget.

It's not an ideal situation since she's house rich and cash poor, that's why she needs the son's help with paying the mortgage now that the ex-husband stopped paying alimony.

Okay 15k a month, I was thinking i might need only 3 4k a year max in retirement.. unless healthcare racks up
They have an income at $380k a year and in this horrible spot? They must be doing blow together.
Heâs not in a horrible spot. He has $70k in the bank. Are you doing blow? Or did you watch the video?
@@topcomment3816 For a guy making $200k/year and having only $70k in the bank is not much. Living at home making that kind of money, he should have way more than that.

âHe should have way more than thatâ is very different from âhorrible spot.â
There is nothing wrong with helping your parents for as long as you want to, even if it's for as long as they live
He lives at home cuz his mom pays the bills, she cooks for him, cleans after him, has his favorite snacks on hand etc. Hes comfortable there because they allow him to have no responsibilities even with his $200k salary. Cant imagine what hes going to expect his wife to do for him
He can hire a maid and a personal assistant.
So many things in the story are so weird.
Is Mom has made $150,000 a year? Why in the world does she need an extra grand from him?
I think there are a lot of things being left out here. Weird.
Also he is 25 and his mom is 70? Wow
Rich people start late AF having kids
@@esonon5210 why they are rich
15k per month for 5years is 900k! Even if she pays half in taxes, that's still 450k over 5years; a large nest egg. Anyone with somewhat reasonable spending habits can live off that
Mortgage on a 2M dollar house is 10k per month. You're just not thinking about that.
@@jojohns9670 Ok so if some of that 15k went to that it would be a tax right off. So say the income is $8500 instead of $7500.
This would also assume a $2mill house has no rental suites or additional Living space that could be rented. In addition, we are assuming the ex wife has $0 income.
This just doesn't seem possible...
@@morgancornwall3254 You're clueless. Those kinds of houses are single-family mansions, with zero rental units. Tax write-offs would be offset by property taxes.
@@jojohns9670 definitely not clueless. I've been to houses in the $10s of millions and many had secondary suites as well. Some had laneway houses or secondary houses on the property (I think they're called nanny houses?). It's not unreasonable to assume that
@@jojohns9670 also funny how the ex wife income comment was ignored
This call is fake. He said he is 25 but his mom is 70. That would be extremely rare for his mom to have a child at 45

@@sobc2737 Yeah if they live in the Bay area or NY, which has a higher cost of living. You can also research salaries online by location.
@@esonon5210 IT is one of the few fields where you can remotely work for a company based in one end of the earth, while staying at your house on the other end. Software Engineering is no different.
Mom is a vampire. Son is a mom-simp.
Iâm a woman and hereâs my perspective... this is why women should never rely on a man for financial support, whether married to him or divorced from him! This is absolutely absurd! I will give the mother credit for not having asked her son for the money, but if she needs it, she is completely financially inept and I donât blame her ex husband for not wanting to fund her extravagant lifestyle 5-6 years post-divorce. Men and women BOTH need to be earning an income.
Moms seems a lil leachy
Stay at home forever and never spend a penny!
No, he need to move out.
Her ex shouldn't be paying her $15K a month alimony! She's an adult. She should be supporting herself. The ex is not responsible for supporting someone who is no longer married to him unless she put him through college, and certainly not $15K a month.
What a loving kid to try to help his mom tho
