  • After being attacked by Azerbaijan, more than 100,000 people have fled from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. They are frustrated with Russia's broken promises to protect them. Now, ethnic Armenians are trying to reorient themselves far from home.

You could ask why Pashinyan agreed with Azerbaijan last Summer, in June, that the lands of Nagorno Karabagh / Artsakh were nothing to the Armenian State and were properly belonging to Azerbaijan. You could also ask why Pashinyan told Russia that Armenia no longer wished to avail of Russian Peace-keepers' assistance in either Nagorno Karabagh or in Armenia proper. You should note that Pashinyan made these announcements shortly after Samantha Power of US Aid visited Armenia early last Summer and shortly thereafter, Pashinyan instructed the Armenian Army to take part in military exercises with the French and other NATO States while stating that Armenia had no claim over the lands of Nagorno Karabagh / Artsakh. Pashinyan has been lying through his teeth ever since the Azeris attacked Artsakh while he tries to save his own skin and that of his fellow gangsters in the Armenian Gangster Government. Having made his choice to throw his lot in with US Aid and NATO last June, Pashinyan discovered, to the cost of the Armenian People that neither the EU nor EU/NATO States had the slightest interest in assisting either Armenia or Nagorno Karabagh. Russia has made perfectly clear that it is quite willing to assist and protect Armenia but not while Pashinyan and his Gangsters-in-Government remain in power.

Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region was "an island" in Azerbaijan with a small population of 120k people. Armenian forces ethnically cleansed 800k non-Armenian Azerbaijanis and occupied 7 surrounding Azerbaijani cities with a twice area size of Nagorno-Karabakh. During the 30 years of occupation, they refused any kind of autonomy and return any land from the surrounding cities.

Why did this exodus occur in autumn 2023?
The answer lies in the fall of 1991, when the Azerbaijanis were expelled from Karabag. It wasn't that long ago, the Armenians know what they did back then. I guess they left Karabag out of shame. There was no danger or safety risk. They could drive away comfortably in their cars.

In a matter of weeks, more than 600,000 Azerbaijanis were forced to flee the same area. And there were no safe corridors for Azerbaijani civilians trying to escape. The single biggest massacre of civilians was committed against Azerbaijanis in the town of Khojaly (or Xocali) in Feb. 1992. It's sad that DW has no mention of the recent history in its reporting.

Forcefully relocate Armenian and arresting leading Armenian figures was ordered. These are shameful historical facts. Armenians were not targeted solely for their religion or ethnicity. It's easy to sit in a war Free zone and blame peoples actions. It was war of survival and people responsible for their people made harsh decisions. Palestinians have never had the upper hand similar to that of Armenians when they took over Karabakh (+ surrounding territories) and cleansed over half a million Azeris from their homes in the '90s. Now the Azeris just revenged and took back the land by force taken from them by force. End of story.

This video doesn’t provide all reality of the conflict. Finally after 30 years of occupation now Karabakh is liberated from terrorists! • @SMGJohn

Because it never was Azerbaijan land.
Azerbaijan as a nation was created by Turkey to counter Russian influence in the region and more importantly, stop Armenian growth.
Azerbaijani language and culture are essentially just another regional Turkish dialect, they still understand each other to this day.
Orthodox churches built in Nagorno date back to 100AD.

Lets see, there are approx. over 100.00 Turks in Germany, in some Areas they are even the majority, like in some district of Berlin, Cologne and so on. Now imagine, the German Gov. and military would move into those Areas and chase them back to Turkey, confiscate their belonging and of course kill some of their able bodied men and arrest some more. Can you imagine the outrage we would experience? But this way around its fine? And don't try to come with the argument, that those turks are integrated and paying taxes etc, thats simply not true. The truth is they have their own shadow economy, do not pay taxes, do not abide to german law sometimes even for generations do not learn the german language. Your turn.

According to international law, Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan.
Karabakh has never officially been the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
Although Armenian nationalists disputed Karabakh at the beginning of the 20th century, the USSR confirmed Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan USSR.
The "Great Armenia" nonsense of the Armenians destabilized the South Caucasus and caused the death of thousands of people.
In the 21st century, Armenians do not consider the borders of international law and dream of the borders of former empires. They also claim territory in Georgia, and this is unacceptable.
After the first Karabakh war, more than 1 million Azerbaijanis left the region. Personally, I am an internally displaced person from Lachin district, where the corridor is located. They destroyed our house and I had to live in an old wagon 3 meters long and 6 meters wide for 20 years.
As long as the Armenians do not put an end to the "Great Armenia" nonsense, they will harm both themselves and others in the South Caucasus.
