    Good video brother, I agree with alot of the things you mentioned about this bike. My FZ6R just rolled over 45,000 miles.... I've had her since 2011 brand new with zero miles and the only two things I've ever had to change was the clutch and just recently the battery! Yamaha's are simply awesome made machines!

      Hmm.. Maybe I should pay attention to my clutch in the miles to come 😮

    • @lopezdad30
      @lopezdad30 Před 6 lety +2

      Half-Click Up clutch got changed around 35,000 miles but tbh, I had the clutch changed for more of a personal preference as oppose to a mechanical issue because the clutch was still operating fine.... bike was still drivable and everything, just had slight slippage here and there and this is only due to me learning and practicing too many clutch wheelies lol. But to anyone driving this bike like a civil human being will not have to worry about clutch going out till probably around 50,000 miles. Yamaha makes very machines...👍👍

    I've had a FZ6R for about a month now and it's been a blast! Mine is white with red accents along the outer rim and side of the bike (plus white powder coated rims) and I've got gear to match it (white/red/black). I've also got the same Kawasaki mirrors, smoked aftermarket tail lights and windshield. Also it came with similar clip-ons plus an aftermarket foot peg assembly and I agree, after riding a stock FZ6R, my bike riding position feels completely different (like it's a completely different bike altogether). A few more mods I've got is a gear indicator, Black Widow exhaust, phone mount plus charger, battery render plug, and steering stabilizer. I don't have sliders though; maybe I'll add those sometime. The bike is currently at 20,000 kms and no issues so far 😀

      Yeah the 1.5" is what you need, I misspoke when I said 1.25. As for the installation process: Once you have the factory tree removed, the most important process is mocking up the clip-on next to your factory bar to make sure you drill the control mount holes in the correct spot. At 35k miles you're way overdue for a brake fluid change anyway despite what the owners manual says. I really like the fact that you are so anal about care and maintenance of your bike and alot of people should take the hint about caring for the machine. As an 8 year rider who just doesn't really need to go 170mph (on a closed course, of course) or have the absolute razor sharp handling of an r1 anymore... This bike is perfect. Still quick and very agile but A HELL OF A LOT more comfortable. Intermediates to veterans (not saying I'm a veteran) who are looking for something more comfy but don't wanna give up your twisties or your general fun just yet, you would make a mistake to overlook this bike. It would be a great beginner bike for responsible types but that is definitely not it's only purpose. I can't speak enough good about this bike.

    My only wish is that they made this with a normal frame, not the heavy stainless one they use. That alone would make the bike even more nimble, and speed it up a ton, literally making it perfect to grow into. Things like clip ons can be installed as newer riders become more comfortable, etc, but the frame... there's pretty much nothing that can be done without spending so much you might as well get a new bike, and I hate that they ruin the bike like that...

    • @HalfClickUp

    But what advantage to the clip-ons? Personally, I love the handlebars on mine. Perfect for sport touring, which is what I have the FZ6R for. Your tires are Dunlop? I just put new Battlax tires on mine, at the 18,800 Km mark. Any advantage to the Dunlops? I went with a Zero Gravity sport touring windshield on mine. Thinking about getting the TechSpec tank pads. Any thoughts on this?

    • @HalfClickUp
      @HalfClickUp  Před 6 lety +2

      Robert Ryan installing clipons lowers the front of the bike, allowing for a more neutral to slightly positive rake, creating a bit of a sportier feel. It also creates a new rider's triangle that provides for a much better tuck at speed. At the end of the day it's all about personal preference. I'm currently running the new Dunlop Roadsmart 3, and am about to turn 10,000 miles on the rear tire with just a hint of a flat spot so far. I commute 90 miles roundtrip every day. As for tank pads, can't say I've ever really looked into a real assortment of them, except for the red carbon fiber GYTR piece you see in the vid. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment dude!

  • @Bosephjones
    @Bosephjones Před 6 lety +4

    Good Video! - However, I will respectfully disagree with your assessment of the Shogun No-cut Sliders. I opted for these and they saved my front plastics, without question. I low sided last year and the only damage sustained was a broken peg, bent clip on, and some rash on the tail fairing, so I've had a good experience with them, but no two wrecks are the same, so maybe they wouldnt have performed well under different conditions...
    Secondly - GET STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINES.... They absolutely change the character of the bike and brake feel. The OEM rubber lines are soft, and yamaha actually recommends replacement after 4 years. I think this is by far the most cost-effective and beneficial mod that can be done to the bike.
    Also - To touch on the seat height - I rode with the seat in the "high" position for about a year, but then put it back down in the low position and I'm 6'0" I did this because it lowered the CCOG of the bike with me on it, and has given me less of a reach to stretch when transitioning body position on the bike. I'm not sure if you track yours or not, but I'm planning to this summer.

      MrFrzZ great insight man! I'm glad the Shogun sliders work better than I've been told. I agree with you about the brake lines and would love to upgrade. Were they difficult at all to install?

    • @Bosephjones
      @Bosephjones Před 6 lety +1

      Not at all man. You've already done the most "difficult" mod in the clipon's and/or exhaust. The most difficult part was just chasing the air out of the lines, but the lever feel is so much more responsive. The next step I'm hoping to take is to either swap in a radial master cylinder from an R1 or a Brembo 17RCS. I've got a set of EBC HH pads to go on, so hopefully those will improve the stopping power as well, and then when its time for rotors, Im planning to go Galf Wave rotors.
      For the record I picked up Galfer Lines. According to a guy on the forum (600cc) you can call galfer direct and they're fantastic to deal with. I picked mine up from RZ.

      Run down to your local Advance Auto (Or whatever you have - Autozone, oreilly's etc.) And get a one-man brake bleeder kit. I think I paid 35 bucks for mine. Makes your life so much easier. I still had my wife help me with the front, and it was a little goofy since the left side line piggybacks off the right, but if you change the lines out, you'll go to a dual line straight off the MC, so if one line gets compromised for any reason, you still have SOME braking power up front.

A set popped up on eBay last month and I grabbed it just to have it on-hand should I go down. Other than that, all that’s out there are the aftermarket no-cut kits. laïb mehdi yacine hey friend thanks for watching my channel! When you go to inspect that FZ6R, request ahead of time that the engine be cold when you arrive. Start the bike and make sure there aren’t any odd noises on a cold startup. Things like a 3 second “clatter” on startup indicates the need for a new timing chain, for example. Make sure the bike idles on its own on cold startup, too. If it dies during a cold idle, then the valves are way out of adjustment. Negotiate the asking price accordingly. As for your hip pain, you’ll be happy to know that the FZ6R has two seat height settings. On the lowest setting, you will be able to flat foot quite comfortably, which will help alleviate that hip pain. Good luck!

      @@HalfClickUp dang!! You have that many miles and NO valve adjustment!!? Crazy... I'm surprised you have zero issues. I got my valves adjustment with the 48,000 mile service done at the dealership where I bought my baby back in May 2011. Kind of expensive but kind of worth it imo, i paid just over $1,000 for the whole valve adjustment with oil/oil filter change, new spark plugs, new air filter, coolant flush, refill top all fluids, chained cleaned and lubed and all the other stuff that goes along with their "48 point inspection". They also adjusted the idle which I like cuz I had cold start issues before in those cold mornings.

    Nice video but this wasn't really a review, it was more you just noting your own personal mods

    • @HalfClickUp
      @HalfClickUp  Před 5 lety +2

      I believe the main takeaway I intended, is that it's a bike with predictable power that is manageable, reliable, and endlessly fun to ride. Other than that, the most notable mention in this video is where I stated that I've never had to perform anything other than scheduled maintenance on the bike. By the way, she's about to turn 47k and still hasn't required a valve adjustment. Thanks for watching.

      The FZ6 also had a completely different cam profile, timing, and ECU. As for ABS, I’ve put over 56,000 miles on this bike in 5 years and never needed any ABS.
