    That is a ton of miles, holy crap. Yamaha truly does make the most reliable bikes. You gotta hit that valve adjustment though, kind of pricey, but it will be worth it. Very cool outro.

      Very cool to hear… mine turned 64k last week. I can assure that it’ll have plenty of life left for you to enjoy. I did finally tackle the valve adjustment and made a full four-part tutorial that you can find in my FZ6R Mods & Maintenance playlist. At 23k, it’ll be worth it to at least perform a clearance check in your new baby. Congrats on your purchase!

Will definitely have to check your 35,000 mile review cause I wish I had a little more sound and performance. I remember I had a buddy at the ambulance company who owned an 1199 Pringle ask me if I wanted to race. Bro my fizzer burned him so bad that when I got home and texted him he said he gave up and had his wife pick him up. 😁

    Thanks for mentioning the valve adjustment. I bought mine new (2012) and have 39,000 miles... never had it done either. Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-40. Clutch is good, and still has original pads and rotors front and rear... they still look good. Never left me stranded and I’ve been from Mississippi to California, St Louis, and all over the southeast. I can vouch for the reliability. Never an issue. It’s not a difficult bike to maintain. Thanks for the video.

    Valve adjustment seems intimidating, but really it's not that bad. I've done a couple without issue; my bike needs 'em every 7500 miles. Looking forward to hopefully getting an FZ6R in part because they only call for them every 26,000 miles. Seeing as this motor is so very under-stressed compared to the state of tune it carries in the R6, It's possible the valves lash stays good for a lot longer than that.

    Yamaha is one of the best, if not the best, motorbike brand in the world and 55.000 miles is good going for a motorbike specially when you ride it everyday and everywhere 😀 I would like to point out one small detail on the video, you mention the clutch and you said it is still the original and that is great 👏👏👏 you pointed to the left side ( sitting down on the bike ) as the clutch but the clutch is on the right side, the left side is the ignition stator coil and the gear lever, sorry for being annoying but had to mention it 😜 nice video dude 👍 be safe 😊

      I purchased a 2012 FZ6R w/ 2,300 miles on it two years ago. If price isn't a big concern, I would get the 2014. They did some minor upgrades in 2013 which, from my understanding on the forums, helped produce a little more power. That was also the year they refreshed the design of the XJ6N overseas (same bike, different fairings.) If you're not speed, power and hungry for the twisty roads (which are fun!) this is a great every day sports cruiser bike which will last a long time with minimal issues if you do regular maintenance.

    I have multiple issues with this bike. I got it at 1700 miles and have had 2 electrical issues. I'm currently sitting at 7k miles and the bike left me stranded after a 45 minute ride in the rain. Electricals messed up and bike wont start. Dashboard flickers and the starter makes a nasty sound. Bike is a 09 and garage kept always and in great condition besides for that.

      I’d start tracing wires from the ECU out. Sounds like chewed or frayed wires grounding out somewhere. Multimeter will prolly be necessary. Anything less than 12V anywhere is suspect.

    I wonder if you could temporarily adjust the fuel mapping to account for having to nurse the throttle on a cold, winter morning -- although, I'm not sure if there an easier way to make said adjustment. Are you able to adjust the fuel mapping on the Power Commander while the bike is running or does it need to be off?

    • @HalfClickUp
      @HalfClickUp  Před rokem +1

      The PCFC allows for changes on the fly, but it would be easier to turn the idle screw, which is more readily accessible. To this day it’s still an issue, and all I can figure is that it’s a result of a richer than stock mixture that chokes it out at cold idle. With that being said, I can’t help but wonder if balancing the throttle bodies might make a difference. Perhaps the simple intro of more air at cold temp idle would make all the difference (by balancing the throttle bodies). That’s one maintenance item that I’ve never done. I need a good carb tuner like the one offered by MotionPro.

    • @JacobRx
      @JacobRx Před rokem +1

      @@HalfClickUp it's an interesting problem & one I may have to cross paths with the next winter 🤔
      the only drawback with that is carrying around a screwdriver if you want to adjust it back (or having one at your remote destination available)
      *theoretically* if you could remotely access the PCFC module/map settings then that might be ideal -- I'll check back with you if I go down that rabbit hole (I work in tech) 😅
      as far as the throttle/induction is concerned... that's all slightly above my head at the moment, lol -- but if I know anything about basic physics, it's that pressurization creates heat, so perhaps you're right.
      only one way to find out I suppose

If they shoot you down at $3k, then offer $3,500…which would be perfect. $3,800 is still fair if you want her bad enough. They’re worth $3,800 for sure.
