I love this review of the FZ6R. The rider just gave his honest opinion and you can read his facial expressions when he tells how impressed he was with the bike.
The FZ6R is often subjected to abuse from supersport riders for not being a "real" sport bike, or a chick bike, or even a beginner bike. I even had a salesman at a Yamaha dealer rip the FZ6R when I said I was considering it over the R3 and the KTM rc390 starter bikes. He said the FZ6R was "a huge downgrade" from those bikes and then he called it a " commuter bike" and that I would be disappointed with it.
One twist of my wrist on the test ride erased his implications of this being a downgrade. Sure, not a track bike, but it had equal or better street handling and twice the power.
The FZ6R is a misunderstood bike. People always try to categorize it thinking it's trying to be this or that. I think the truth is. It's just a great "motorcycle" that does just about everything with near perfection. You can use it for ANY type of riding and it delivers. It will smoke just about anything on 4 wheels when needed and it can also give you a pleasant ride to work when called upon.
The rider in the video who came from every type of bike from tourer to supersport was almost speechless he was so blown away by the FZ6R.
If you had to pick just one motorcycle to live the rest of your life with, the FZ6R could be the one. And it's really inexpensive to boot!

I'm 28, never been on a bike. If things go as planned I should be picking up a 2015 with 4K miles come Saturday! 🤞 When the time comes that I "outgrow" it I still don't think I'll sell it. Done some research I have no doubt that it'll be a great bike and my first at that

Glad to see some canadian content, nice review. I had an R3 but wanted more power, insurance rates in ontario can be crazy for a R6 so I’m considering this bike. Yamaha has good build quality and finish

I just bought a 2016 FZ6R and absolutely love it. I was riding a Suzuki gs500f and the FZ6R is a huge upgrade. I haven't heard from a single person who's owned one that didn't love it. I was talking to a guy the other day who has owned many bikes over the years and he said the only bike he really regrets selling is his FZ6R.

Same story here man..... I learned on a 2008 ninja 250 for 4 years and stepped up to the 2012 fz6r, and let me tell you !!! I was blown away from the test ride, I knew I was taking that bike home lol. It has all the power I need, and comfort, and it does the twisties just fine :)

I have the european model of this bike (XJ6F). It is my first bike and I freakin' love it also. All this guy says is true and I would also make the fuel tank bigger so it can go longer distances without refuelling.
A transmission shaft would also be great. Or just buy a FJR1300, which is the logical upgrade you can get.
Bearr in mind that the FZ6R IS NOT a Super Sport bike. It is a Sport Touring bike with a "sporty" look.

I can now reveal that the fz6r is a hidden gem 💎, while the rest of the other fellas be getting Supersports to either brag but how many actually track it? Betcha you don't see too many Supersport running everyday or commuting long distance, basically a rare budget friendly sport tourer, smooth engine, darling engine noises, quiet exhaust fir those who don't want to be a menace, decently tuned shocks, lowest seat I've found fir your 600cc 4cyclinder motorcycle 😉, I'm 5"4 perfect one leg at stops, brakes are awesome, this is fir your riders who started on a ninja 250/300 and want more power comfort and smooth sportiness, the only downside to the bike is she's porky at 450lbs roughly but it helps keep you planted on the highway 😉, takes 87 octane at the pump, excellent balance btwn power and smooth delivery, nothing sounds better than a 4cyclinder coming from twins its soo sexy, position is standard with a slight lean forward super comfy but sporty, now everyone rush out and buy one cause they don't make them anymore, I had to get mine first before letting everyone else know lmao, there is the fz6 none r and it makes like 15-18 hp more butt that ones older not as refined in the midrange power, and the frame is prone to cracking since those were cast aluminum, the fz6r are steel framed only like 11lbs heavier but more durable than the fz6 aluminum frames, the fz6r are relatively newish and can be found with low miles and great prices but better get to it before they are all gone or prices go up, btwn the ninja 650 twins, or ninja 400 twin or even the honda cbr650 but that doesn't count way out of the price bracket were talking 7k and under, I'll take the smooth 4 inline any day all day, the most satisfied purchase of a bike I've ever had no regrets, so if your short and you don't mind strolling 450lbs of beauty out to ride I say get before they are all gone or get overpriced or high mileage
