Bought this bike for my son as a starter bike, and i was surprised how nice it is to ride, he found it was pretty fast until he tried my GSXS1000 now he knows what fast is, but as his first bike it is just the right amount of power to keep him out of trouble and learn to handle a bike before upgrading to more hp

Exactly right, fast enuf to get you the thrill, but not so quick enuf where the rear tire will fly out from under you.

Lol, I high sided on Harley VRod and it did several rotations before coming to a rest. It snapped the front forks and bent the frame. After my recovery period I went out to wreck sitting up the side of my house and thought I’d try and start it. It started right up first pop. I was amazed. I’ve had yammy, kwaka’s and Honda’s and only ever fallen off the Harley! Funny that😂

2011 FZ6R owner here, bought here brand new for $8,700 here in southern California. She now has over 53,000 miles and I've have not had a single problem with her!! I feel I chose the perfect bike to start my motorcycle journey and I'm still riding her till this day because honestly there's really no reason to upgrade besides maybe experiencing other machines.... but any Yamaha is a great motorcycle in my book. My mods are, full two bros carbon fiber exhaust, two brows fuel controller, K&N high flow air filter, air box mod, FZ1 handlebar, tst industries frame sliders, progrip tank protector, XJ6 tank grips, EK gold chain, vortex sprockets, DMP rear fender eliminator, DMP rear led turn signals, DMP flush mount turn signals, ZX6R mirrors and I run a 180 width rear tire. 🤗 I ❤ my FZ6R.

I got one of these about 3 months ago. Full racing exhaust and power commander fitted. 30K kilomteres on the clock. What a frikken amazing bike. I was going to buy ninja400 then rode one of these. I also ride Honda CB400. There's just something about small/mid displacement 4 cyclinders. The FZ6R is super comfy - I've done 800km rides in a day and felt pretty good at end of it. I now tell all my learner rider buddies .... get a FZ6R or XJ6, There's endless smiles and satisfaction to be had. Mate has 2011 model and he's put 227,000kms ... and apart from basic maintenance (oil change, air filter) the bike still sings and has been faultless.

I have the 09 FZ6R, and I love the bike. Rode to Maine, Georgia, North Carolina, and was comfortable even after 12 hours in the saddle. Stock the bike does 130mph. Simple mods can make this bike even faster. Simple 4 degree advanced timing and an ecu flash and tune and you can run with some of the sports bike. It can be a daily commuter, track, or street bike and it is comfortable. The only caveat is that the stock exhaust is quieter than a mouse fart.

Ari henning did a great video on fuel grades on revzilla recently. Very few bikes call for anything above 87. Won’t hurt to use higher octane but you’re not getting anything more out of 99% of bikes with it, except that higher grades tend to have higher cleaning detergents but that’s not really a big deal. The fz6 was a great bike.. the fz6r is unbearibly slow. I wouldn’t own one..

It's not a super sport, but people have been doing the gearing change to improve the acceleration. I don't find it slow by any means, but then again I have the power commander and full exhaust. And I've had it over 200km/hr so it ain't that slow. If anything I find it heavy.

RideThe6 I think by slow I mean acceleration is bad. It’s all relative tho. In the us we enjoy red light racing when the opportunity shows it’s face. When that happens I like to know Im gonna win, lol. Still a nice reliable bike, it’s just that a ninja 650 is about just as fast as this thing and it’s a parellel twin.. anyway, enjoy man!

@@doylee469 Ya the acceleration isn't the best cuz you gota switch to 2nd gear before you even get thru the intersection. I've ridden the ninja 650 too and it really drops off on the high end where the inline 4 just continues to pull. Cheers. Thanks for the comments.
