    Congrats on your well earned 4th WC title SA. Huge respect for the BOKKE QF, SF, F all won by 1pt! They just refused to lose the games that mattered and found a way to win every game they needed to win the WC. That's what champions do.

    The difference between Sam Cane and Siya's cards. Siya was actually bent to make the tackle, Sam Cane was not, Siya made contact with the shoulder first and then Ardie's head rocked downwards because of the impact and made contact with Siya's head, Sam Cane made immediate contact on impact with Jessie's head, face area, without attempting to bend over for the tackle. Those are actually huge factors to take into account how the bunker came to the their card conclusions between the two players.

      As a Kiwi, I appreciate both of your guys sentiments. I would have felt the same if the Boks had gotten a red that allowed the AB's to win. It would not have felt right. Such a bummer that this game was marred. Not to say you guys wouldn't have won anyway, but we'll never know. If the AB's get a conversion or that penalty goal, your guys would have played the last ten minutes a lot different, so all the could haves and would haves won't ever tell us what would have happened. Honestly, at this point I'm still more relieved than happy - that will come 😅
    I will say I'm very sad for Will Jordan, not getting a 9th try. That would have been lovely to see. Also for Sam Whitelock. It's not often a player has a chance to be a three-time world cup champion. And lastly for Cheslin Kolbe. It was his 30th birthday - I was really hoping for a try like in the 2019 final. You could see he was gutted - must be riding a rollercoaster of emotions.
    I think the fatigue for the tournament is showing for both teams. I think the All-Blacks peaked somewhere between the Ireland and Argentina games - they were near flawless in both, but quite a bit more messy in this one. Likewise the Springboks are clearly pretty ground down from the last few matches. It ws inevitable that this game was not going to be a bit messier for both.

    Once again NZ go down by the barest of margins as Ian Smith famously said, in a World Cup final. Down a man we showed so much guts and gave ourselves chances (Jordie missed pen, Richie missed conversion) to snatch that game, but it was not to be. Awesome Wildkard a honest and bloody good bloke despite the painful loss looking forward to the All Blacks rebuilding with a new coach and new players coming thru.Boks dug deep and got the job done they do need to review TMO influence and also review the rules of rugby so many different interpertations and grey areas just simpfly it for the sake of Rugby and it is turning into a stop- start game just have to look at Rugby League penalty and straight on report game continues and only using the video referee to look at the situation of the play and player welfare in the tackle. Hopefully the Wallabies can rebuild and prepare for next season also the British & Irish Lions tour 2025 as well and leading into RWC 2027.

    To be fair to Barnes, he didn't initiate those cards. It was the TMO.
    Also Kolisi came in lower and ended up higher (your still) whereas Cane was upright with more of a swinging arm and he never looked like bending down.
    Kolbe's was a penalty at most. Cannot decisively say it wasn't just a tackle.

      The worst part of Frantzel's judo cleanout was actually the neck roll but many have got away with it in this WC. His bum landing on Bongi's knee I would argue is accidental.

    Deon Fourie deserved everything! Imagine being 37 after being an absolute monster for the Stormers, becoming captain for 7 minutes, and winning the World Cup final as the captain. What a lad!
    The Sam Cane tackle was just straight-up shoulder-to-face, so like there's no defending that...at all. Sam Cane didn't drop into the tackle, wrapping aside, shoulder to face.
    Savea puts his face down into Kolisi...and also Cane is higher than Kriel, where Kolisi is lower than Savea. They're nothing alike. TMOs made the right call on those two, even though I was gutted to see Cane get Red Carded, it was definitely way more severe than Kolisi's.

The risk of the 7-1 is that if the wrong players get injured you could pay for it by having to play out of position, play forwards in the backline etc. The ABs didn’t back themselves to overcome the 7-1 and tried to force the issue with foul play, including fouls that could do serious damage to players. Hey Wildkard goeie dag!! That game was epic,tough and kept all on the edge of their seats. I think the Boks are used to that dark place. The ABs really played well with a man down and they nearly won. Richie played the game of his life. Sad what happened to Sam Cane. I think it should've just been a yellow card. Deon played the game of his life and so did Pieter Steph. Well Boks they equalled the b2b like the ABs but now standing tall with 4 wcups. Siya a true leader.

    • @lfk53
      @lfk53 Před 8 měsíci

      They nearly won because of the forward pass 'try'. It should never have been that tight in the end.

      @@lfk53 I agree. We could've closed the game off with a try had Siya offloaded as he had support on both shoulders when he broke through the ABs defence down the touch line. Was a great game but not a spectacle because of the conditions. I thought Faf and Arendse in particular did not play well. Deon stepped up after Bongi's injury. Du Toit played like a beast. 1st half we were on point , 2nd half a big drop off.

    As a SA supporter, i was upset when the red card was given. No need to change the card from yellow to red, as this would be the main talking point in the event of a SA win. All Blacks were amazing playing 14 against 15. Well done both teams!

    • @scroopynooperz9051
      @scroopynooperz9051 Před 8 měsíci +1

      If you followed the whole tournament you would know the refs were remarkably consistent at dishing out cards for head contact - if TMO found NO mitigating factors you were red carded, was as simple as that.
      The most you can want from the ref, is consistency in interpretation and if that Cain head knock was done by another player at any other game, he would have been red carded.
      Should the ref then have changed protocols and consistency just because it's a final? This will be a discussion point for many.

    • @mrman6948
      @mrman6948 Před 8 měsíci

      @scroopynooperz9051 thanks for clarifying. It seems like it was a harsh call, given the occasion. I know that if that had happened to a SA player I'd be gutted, so i feel for the ABs.

    • @robertjan002
      @robertjan002 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Cane was counting on this fact and took a calculated risk of removing a key player with a head shot, not expecting the red to be given in a final. Don’t feel sorry for him. He knew what he was doing, had time, actually lines up the head to the shoulder, and gives a smug look when walking off. Red all day and a disgrace to the ABs.

    • @Wildkard
      @Wildkard  Před 8 měsíci +2

      the AB can only blame themselves for the poor tackling . not the 1st time in this tournament too

    Kiwi here, though the boks played extremely well throughout the tournament and are worthy winners of the tournament if we just take the final dame they did not deserve to win in my opinion. There were an extremely large amount of refereeing inconsistencies and the sheer number of tiny things that I’d even one of them had gone nz’s way they would have won adds to this. Also I might be tripping but I thought the most controversial moment was the penalty that was awarded against ardie saves for a misssight from Barnes when it should have been a not releasing penalty against SA. In the arguably this gave the boks a 6 goal lead as it should have been tied up by a nz kick there. Sorry if this is badly written and completely incorrect btw just my, selective, opinion

    • @robertjan002
      @robertjan002 Před 8 měsíci +4

      Agree, as a SAn. Not to every point, but I thought there was bias. We were the beneficiaries. Big competitions have preferred outcomes. SA had the better story. That said, if the ref goes against us, I always say we need to take the ref out of the game.

      South Africa were the best and most consistent team without doubt, deserved winners. All the kiwi fans giving out about Wayne Barnes must remember that they wouldn't have been in the final if it wasn't for him.

      On balance Barnes was actually pretty fair and consistent with the odd strange decision going against both teams.
      The big decisions tonight weren't his doing and from the TMO.

      @shaheempashua6924 Před 8 měsíci

      That's utter rubbish the ref made questionable calls on both sides and good calls for both
      You lost because you played this as if it wasn't a rugby world cup final and wanted to blow us away when all you need was a few points to win a record 4th cup!!!!
      You threw points away missed kicks man up and take responsibility

    The AB team played so valiant, they can keep there heads high, finally order has been restored the Rugby World Rugby with the springboks ranked no1 and The mighty AB no2, and everybody else going down the line, so much of nonsense we had to hear from Scottish, Ireland, French and England fans during this WC, at moments it felt like the world against the boks, but against all the odds, back2back winners as we had called it from day 1 of the WC, we backed ourselves and our team showed up and proved us right
