7 Things I Still Buy as a Minimalist

  • Not too long ago, I made a video about things I no longer buy as a minimalist: branded clothes, items on sale, and paper books. Minimalism helps me to stay grounded, an organized space is an organized mind. But what I’ve also learned is that minimalism is not about owning as few possessions as possible, but about creating space for what’s truly important. To live a more intentional life, one with more happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.
I am not an extreme minimalist, there are still things I spend money on. The difference from how I was living before is that I now am much more intentional about my purchases. They’re not impulse buys.
So here are 7 things I still buy as a minimalist.
    Enjoy!

I, on the contrary, started buying paper books again. It gives me more pleasure, and, moreover, it's easier for me to focus on paper books than on a screen. I trry to buy second-hand ones. They cost cheap and also, i like the idea of not enhancing the amount of various stuff in the world, which requires time and efforts to be produced and eventually ends up at a landfill.
And considering how much a good e-reader costs compared to second hand books, well, for its price i can buy paper books for twenty-ish years, i guess:))).
And i will try to sell them after reading , btw:).

I fell in love with paper books again a few years ago and pay a weekly visit to the library! Books I really really really like and reread (like Goodbye things) I buy.

I quit buying a lot of things. I do go out twice a week to eat with my 86 year old mother. Its our time together and I don't feel bad about spending money to be one on one with her. I feel that is money well spent because once she is gone i will not have that opportunity again. Books I buy thrift and re-donate when finished, or borrow at library or read on a reader.

Thanks for the video Peter. I have sold my kindle because I found out I could read my books on my laptop or my phone and that it was a good enough experience . Who is not leaving near a supply socket nowadays?
For taking notes I have found that it was generally not necessary because the books that matters are the one that change your vision of the world and the way you behave, these are the books one go back reading.
I found a video of a person speaking about it:

    Take care on your journey...
