Back when BV was new and three to four was common in a match, I became a bit of a BV killing specialist. I would come out in the American SB2C-5 with pods and attack them head on. It was pretty easy because I could see them within seconds of spawning in. I would get right in front and shoot directly into the cockpit. One per match was normal. Sometimes two. I think my record is three.
Honestly I’d love to see a video on the B-25, seems like it could at least be a fine support plane.
Maneuverability is still shit. All someone has to do is slightly turn and you won’t be able to get nose on.

If you ever do this again for some reason, the H8K3 makes an excellent gunboat. Just good enough performance and armament to catch fighters off guard while still flying like a cynderblock

IL-10 (1946) is a really good fighter (gets an air spawn, fairly manueverable and extremely good in head-ons. It also gets a 20mm gunner at the rear, which works really well)

I'd love to see Defyn try to make an SM.79 work, it has that one forehead mounted 50cal. I often have a surprisingly good time reminding MiG-3s just how badly they rate fight.
Bomber damage models nowadays be like-single 20mm hits-TAIL CLEANLY FALLS OFF
Pro tip: Gun convergence matters, make sure to set it to the highest possible convergence in order to fend of fighters from further away.

You need to lead less when firing backwards. Your rounds have the forward momentum from the plane, so they're going land in front of the point you're aiming at.

Setting gun convergence works on bombers with winged turrets (i.e. use 800).

This is off topic but Defyn, I'd really like a video explaining some of the basics of the macro game. When do you side climb, how do you position around teammates etc? When your videos start you're always in such a better position than I start from and I don't know how to go about setting up for a round

If you want the best bomber than can double as a fighter, use the G8N1. Super fast and the guns are stupidly good.
Try out the JU188 or 288, the 188 gets 2 forward turret 20s (one 360° turret) and a twin MG81 and MG131 and us pretty fast. The 288 speaks for itself
The BV actually turns quite well for its size, I dive onto targets then turn around to my team. There are a lot of tactics you can employ when an enemy approaches you.
He calls it a boat, but that thing has tighter turning circle than de Havilland Hornet in War Thunder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I used to Unironically play the me264 as a fighter and got pretty good at it, once you learn the 2x20mm cannons. The flight performance of that thing is insane for a bomber.

Nephew and I duo ours as gunboats, fly mid-altitude right through the furball towards the nearest bomb target. Spray down a fighter or 3 on the way through, drop if we survive, and turn back into the largest blob of red again.
I think the trick is to just give no fucks and YOLO it for success. It's just too much of a boat to do much else. And? It's a lot more fun.

Hey Defyn. If you double click on a player's name when holding tab you also open their player card. That way you don't have to right click their name to open the player card. Might make it easier when in a clutch situation

if you want an ace in a bomber, might as well play the BV 138, its at a way lower tier and has some 20mm that works really well against low tier bombers AND fighters

lol Defyn in a bomber. One little trick I found helpful when gunning is quick switching back to the plane from gunners by hitting (default) f3 instead of cycling through all the other views while doing maneuvers. If you did this already, I am 10 minutes in and have to get back to work...darnskee!

BV 238. My favourite free kill in the cockpit of my J2M2. Or in any Japanese fighter which has a 20mm autocannon. It just pops off one of its wings or its tail in one successful hit so all I need to do is catch up to it and not let my teammates steal it. But in a Raiden that's barely an issue
I would love to see you take a crack at the me-264 sometime, very fast + 3 20mm turrets and a ta-152 style loooooong wing.

If you want a bomber that can take lots of head ons and can kinda turn, the Shackleton MR2 is pretty good with it. Hispanos in the nose, and a roof gunner can help if you nose slightly below the head on. I've seen countless people underestimate it and die early thinking they get an easy bomber kill
