Honestly would be good at taking out helis and drones too. Funny how the Air to Surface missile is only useful for taking out aircraft at this point in the game.
@@JoviaI1 Would love to see aircraft carriers more in SIM with this thing. They would have an actual, valid threat, and be a mission target other than "Find enemy, kill enemy". Would also give the Tornado something to actually do.
This is actually a great strategy for sim battles since the enemy likely won’t be able to identify what kind of missile it is because they can’t tell what fire it so they have to go defensive unless they can actually see the missile and judge how slow it is.
Downside is that you can’t equip the missiles and the bombs together so it may help you scare away an enemy for a moment but unless you can capitalize on it and take them out, then you’ve accomplished nothing and just bought yourself a few more seconds to do that nothing… unless they fix the anti ship missiles to actually be useful then maybe you’ll be able to get an actual missile on the intended target.
Honestly, as a tier VIII bomb sled, this thing unironically may be really good at unlocking things like the MiG-29 when Germany gets it

After watching you play this yesterday I can confirm this plane is very much a vehicle of all time.
It's like F-4F early all over again,if you don't remember, when the event F-4F came out,a ton of new jet players rush to play it and become easy food for any half good pilot

I actually enjoy flying this because of the lower br. I take bombs, go low and left, get two bases, come though the back and get two kills. Rinse and repeat
Thanks for the guide and pushing this thing into a2a roles so that if I do redeem the coupon I can make good use of it :D the AShMs for air-to-air usage is great, reminds me of visually locking landing aircraft on the airfield using AGM-65s, or even planes in the air.

You should try using the reversal thrust in a dogfight, it works and it's pretty funny seeing the confusion of the enemy

I really hope Gaijin reverts those changes and let's us use them in Ground RB because Germany really lacks a Ground strike in that BR range
Im not sure these missiles should be able to lock on to a tank and track it but they definitely should have some kind of ability to hit ground targets as they do have a ground attack mode IRL. Probably more like a cruise missile.

kormorans wherent able to be locked on small targets (tanks) only targets you could lock was large one as ships with minimum amount of ground interferance kormorans where designed the way that they used their own radar to keep at altitude of 3 meters above water and hit ship in its side its sap he charge was apparently able to penatrate several bulkheads in ships and damage them
7:20 I noticed that the AS.34s actually intercepted the AIM-9Ls. Which gives me an idea. You could probably use these to intercept/decoy AIM-54s. I see a ton of F-14s launch a hail of '54s and then let them do their own tracking. The missiles are large enough for radar's to get easy locks
This thing is brutal in sim. The search radar can’t see aircraft, has no IFF, can’t turn.
The air belts would be nice if they had more than *one* fucking HE shell
There you have your answer at the end. At least I go for Tornadoes, partly because the engines are so hot it's easy to get a good IR missile in. The other part is that, as an event vehicle, there's a lot of newbie pilots using them.
I think a better name for this thing than "Tornado" is "the little dust devil that tried."

I have Germany ground forces fully unlocked and aced and have a great top tier lineup but it was lacking planes to go with it my best plane was a 10.3 mig and it felt so bad trying to grind for anything else beyond it as they always felt subpar so I got this event Tornado as my first real try to do top tier planes and it flys like a brick but its fast and the missles allow me to get around 1 kill per match before mig29 and f14 - and f15 splat me with ease.
@@rhuulu110notching is flying perpendicular to an enemy plane trying to radar lock you. If you use this with chaff then the opponent will not be able to lock you anymore edit: this only works against pulse doppler mode
I managed to have one of the ship missiles after launch lock onto a m247 on the airfield instead of the intended landing f5c and with perfect tracking it killed the m247, so sad they removed the ability to use the radar on ground targets but the missile still wants to lol

I honestly love flying this thing. I haven't spades it yet, but in 15 games I've actually managed two ace's already. Great for grinding with the ability to also get the first base kill as well!
Love all the new jet coverage, its been super helpful. But, i would also love to see you change it up with a prop flyout! Maybe an updated bf109 g2 trop video? Tier 3 is like food for the soul

I love this thing in both a cas and a bomber role, it also dogfights fine if you drop your load, reminds me of a-5. The lower br makes this thung way more playable
I did a load of 1v1's against a buddy of mine who got the tornado ids, and from what we could tell its aoa seemed to get better at higher speeds (down to about .70 mach) if you cut the afterburner
I found the best way to play this is as a bomber. Takeoff turn 45 degree in relation to enemy airfield. Go into a 20 degree climb with wings somewhere between 33 and 76 percent for best lift and speed. Full afterburner until you reach 17-20 thousand feet. And bomb from the stratosphere with reverse thrust on to reduce your speed the best. After dropping load use your aims from high and behind. Finally hope the enemy team plays below 15 thousand feet or this whole process probably wont work.
I believe there is currently a bug that allows you to dumb fire semi and active radar missiles. Basically you lock onto something with your radar like normal and activate the missile. But in addition you also set up a SPI (you can do this by either binding sight stabilization or using CCRP, I recommend the former), this you only really have to do once and you can put it anywhere you like, just make sure not to lose the SPI by setting it to the sky/out of range (the SPI will be lost because you can't put an SPI in the sky). Well, anyways, after you did all that you can lose your radar lock and the missile seeker circle should still be visible and can be dumb fired now.
The missile follows pretty much a ballistic path like a regular unguided rocket except ARH ones, they may kinda guide themselves but it's really finicky. In the case of these anti ship missiles however, it might actually get a LOAL and be able to be used for ground RB. I am not responsible for any accidental teamkills.

bring a friend to guide the missiles, then break off at the perfect angle for the missiles to track ground instead, def a come around to how they were supposed to be used (this and the fact that the marineflieger also supposed to have GBUs, but I prefer it to not get them since it would move it high up.)
Fun fact, it pulls slightly more AOA with the wings fully swept even if ur using sweep 0% and combat flaps…I love how unfinished this plane is.
I wonder if that’s realistic though. If you think about it at full sweep a variable geometry plane has basically a delta wing configuration. Delta wings don’t really stall at reasonable speeds for a plane, instead the danger is they reach a critical angle where the plane continues to pitch up even with very extreme control inputs. This is because airflow over a delta wing generates huge energy siphoning vortices, which as a result rob the plane of speed during maneuvering. This permits deltas to have extremely high AOA without the wing losing lift due to a partial stall and preventing the plane from continuing to pitch up.
@@samblackstone3400 it’s literally the only swing wing that does this ingame, the MLD can pull 15Gs at some circumstances. And it’s not basically a delta configuration because the tail planes aren’t inline with the wings, as soon as you deflect the elevators you got just a really highly swept wing with horrible lift.
I hope the ability to take a dump on dudes on the runway isn't patched out, seems like a hilarious option for very specific situations.

I absolutely love that every reaction channel is saying this aircraft is crap when in all actuality it’s hands down the best base killer in the game. Carry full fuel and 5 1000 pound bombs plus sidewinders, add another bomb and drop tanks for large maps. Fly at tree top level, destroy base, turn slowly left and kill anything with sidewinders on your way back to reload, rinse and repeat. I don’t know if it’s because a British Tornado saved my LRS team in the Sunni Triangle or if it’s because landing a bus with reverse thrust is a blast but the German Tornado IDS is one of the most fun planes in the game if you play it like a bomber.

Maybe they focused you because you're a better player, and taking out a better player always gives a chance increase for a win. A lot of new players with premium jets around that dont bring any value to the team other than a free kill to the enemy team.

This thing made playing top tier russian aircrafts more painful.
Now not only you have to fight against F-14 , F-16s also half of teammates playing Tornados just bomb mini bases then dies.
the problem with the Mauser guns is, that 1/4 of its belt is consisting of Practice shells. Every time you get a hit with them, you know it was one of those shells...

@@TransportSupremo depends the weight you have on your planes, but Mirage can lose speed faster than F5c and has a much better acceleration, as well as an amazing manoeuvrability. I have both planes and for me, mirage is the better plane. Absolutely adore them and it s the only jet in which i get Aces

Don't listen to Defyn : ) Yea as fighter ...well it's not hopeless but it's lackluster for sure, still, this is not really a fighter. Tornado has enough bombs to take almost 3 bases, 2 AIM-9L's so you can bite when you must, a good canon for strafing ground targets, large caliber countermeasures (but cut that throttle) this thing actually makes MONEY. I cannot believe that the repair cost is only 10K but for Skyray is twice as much although SL generation is not comparable at all.

If you talisman it to gring rank 6 7 8 germany then yes because it's good at bombing and has 9L's. However as a vehicle only its not worth it I think, you decide if you want to spend the time to sell it. Make sure to hold for a while for the price to go up though.

Would have been great if they gave this Tornado a bit more for suspended armaments cause I am pretty sure the jet carried AGM-65D Maverick missiles but they don't show this thing with them. Honestly, really gaijin put AS.34 Kormoran AGMs on the thing when Jets don't even see Battleships or anything of that matter besides in what 2 maps in AirRB there might be something you can shoot AS.34 at REally gaijin couldn't you of given us the Tornado IDs that Germany converted into a Eurofighter Typhoon in 2009. But the German Tornado, For close air support and interdiction, the aircraft is typically equipped with iron bombs, cluster bombs, and laser-guided bombs. In the defense suppression role, it is equipped with anti-radar missiles. "would be nice if we got these types of things that the plane actually had. But laser guided bombs and anti-runway munitions and or anti runway mines would be damn awesome. This IRL had an enhanced paveway and storm shadow missiles. It was outfitted with beyond visual range AAM's and AIM-132 ASRAAM. 👍 GG gaijin 🤨
Tornados, atleast in German service, never carried AGM-65 AGMs, what they did carry was the AGM-88
The Tornado you're referring to wasn't and ISD variant but rather a heavily upgraded interceptor variant to see if they could upgrade them as a stopgap till the Typhoons arrived in bigger numbers
@@ivanvukadin3194 germany never had any interceptor variants as far as i know, the recce tornaods carried the HARM missiles, while the IDS carried all the bombs and AAM
I wouldn’t be surprised if they allow the missiles to hit tanks since this thing isn’t gonna sell for much on the market and they’ll want to make it a higher value

The biggest issue is the uptier margin, a mig21s or early harrier shouldn’t see this, but this also shouldn’t see an f14 or f16
Some Jets are made for Air rb this jet was made for air ab for sure I have only a 2:1 in Air RB but a 6:1 in air ab. The Master boom and zoom!

They don't compare in the sligthes
The Tornado has the payload to destroy two bases and even loaded with bombs has no troubles breaking Mach 1. It's a dedicated ground striker with limited AA ability while the Starfighter is a fighter with very limited ground attack options.

It is missing 2 3rds of its radar set and the 1 3rd it has does not even do what it is meant to do but does a completely different thing. It has ARI 23274 in game and it is not suposed to be a tracking radar instaed it is meant fir seeing where ground is. It ahould have an ARI 23273 as well which should be a different kind of a ground radar and lastly it should have a pulse doppler twc radar. So yeah the radar in that thing is fucked. I do not know what gajin tought when making the tornados.

I guess you mean loadouts, stock it gets the fuel tanks and 2x AIM-9Ls.
The Komoran are actually great for killing helicopters.
And Chaff should not work against these missiles if you stop locking with radar because they got IOG. In theory...

I think it's easier to aim with it, especially long range shots.
It makes the zoom even more annoying in a dogfight if you're using it though.
It's also annoying when you're doing your daily PvE booster grind and it switches itself off.
You're probably better off without it in the long run but it's preferable for Air RB if you headon often.
I got it finally, but sadly I don't even have enough sl for the crew training, because playing jets for the event drained all of it. Anyways I tried to test it but its flight characteristics disgusted me...
