- The Dodge Challenger comes in about a million specs, you have the RT, SRT Hellcat, an AWD version and of course the Skat Pack. But above all Dodge Challengers is the Demon, the 840 HP road legal wheelie poppin’ Challenger! But for the guys and gals at SpeedKore this was not enough. They stripped the Dodge Challenger Demon of it’s very heavy body panels and created space grade fully custom carbon fiber panels to help the Demon become more nimble. And they also did what no one would even consider doing … they ditched the infamous Dodge Supercharger! After the SpeedKore mods the Demon became the Dodge Lucifer and today we're taking a look at the incredible technology that made it possible!

Care to explain.... I'm a mechanical engineer and i have been taught that a horsepower equates to power produced by one horse.....
Fun fact: I know whatever has been taught to me is correct.
@@varunmurali7912 Well you might wanna change your mind on whatever was taught to you because a horsepower is defined as the power required to lift 550 lbs 1 ft in 1 second. A metric horsepower (like 98% of an imperial hp) is the power required to lift 75 kg 1 m in 1 second. It's called a horsepower because it was used to compare to the power output of engines and shit to draft horses which had to lift rocks literally all day.
Hence a horse running flat out is gonna produce more power than one walking and so most horses are capable of a max output of 14 ish horsepower
@@frodgod a horsepower is "not defined" as able to lift 550 lbs by 1ft in 1s, rather it was measured to be the same
Maybe I'm not clear... let me rephrase it horsepower "is defined" as the power that can be produced by a horse at a stable manner (average output).... even Ussain bolt for a period of 0.89s was able to produce 3.5hp but that doesn't mean that he can produce 3.5hp all the time...

Dodge didn't make this though. Besides, Ford and Chevy have the GT500 and ZR1, which are powerful like the Demon except they are actually capable of getting around a track and not just drags

@@joshmejia4105 That wasn't my point. My point was that the big 3 all made cars with that large amount of power, whether drag or track cars. While Ford and GM are embracing the inevitable EV future while also still making badass gas cars Dodge is sitting on their laurels just sticking to HP.
Also my other point was that Dodge didn't make the car in the video like he thought, it has been excessively modified

I do miss Science Garage though. That's where I started with this channel, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

actually tho, a horse makes closer to 15 horsepower, so you would need 100 acres according to your acre/horsepower math
A horse can make up to 20 ho at one time, but most horses make about 1hp when doing steady work over an indefinite period of time. Think of pulling a plow across a field all-day, that's about 1hp

Good explanation of CF. I work with advanced composites and this is pretty dead on. I will say though, a proper wet layup will bond better when layering or bonding together, but you may have irregularities. That’s where the skill comes in play. I think the CAD drawings was a good idea, but the could have used a mold release material on the existing parts to save time rather than make molds. If it’s a 1 of 1. I could see it would benefit using a mild if they were going to manufacture the pieces though.
This was probably one of the best donut videos I have seen yet. It’s like engineering explained but not with the guy who sounds annoying and talks very vague, and barely knows anything about cars. Awesome job!

My buddy at work is in a competitive stock demon drag race class that is and he said the biggest down side to the demon is the drive shafts.. his team has special carbon fiber drive shafts built and he snapped 3 over the summer haha

One thing they didn't mention about the purpose of resin: It allows the load to be transferred between broken carbon fiber strands. If a strand is broken without resin, it is completely useless. The resin allows the stress to travel along the broken fiber until it gets to the broken part, transfers the stress to an adjacent fiber, then transfers it back to the broken fiber after the break.
