Love this store and chain (I live in Toronto ) I can 100% confirm the source exclusive items are great quality for the money. My sons use the Bauer Supreme source for sports exclusive skates as their feet grow so fast. you can't beat the value you get, the Bauer matrix are great from Source as well as these CCM vibe and control products. Just hockey is the best skate sharpening in the world too imo, profiles, custom jobs, repairs standard stuff etc. Source for sports from B.C. often has great clearance sales on their exclusive stuff at the end of year if you know your size you can get a great deal shipped right to your door. I lived and played hockey always close to a souce for sports, now my sons do, hope the last few stores stay around for ever. RIP to the ones we have lost. Love hockey tutorial vids, you helped me tech my younger son how to stop from an old vid, I also ordered a hockey ninja visor because of you that I love. Keep up the great content.

Been waiting for this video to drop as I have been wanting to see the difference between the Control's and the FT6 Pro/FT6's. I just purchased a pair of FT690's for $399 CDN with Pro Hockey's Black Friday sale which is going on till November 30th for anyone that wants to get a great boot at a steal of a price. I plan on throwing some Marsblade O1's on these in spring as I use FT6 Pro's for my regular skate, however will be using these on the ice for the remainder of the year switching back and fourth. The main reason for going with the FT6 Pro's was for the pure comfort feel and extra room in the toe-box, as well as being a bigger guy, the extra stiffness helps support.
The FT690's are similar with minor differences compared to the Control, but something to really consider as they are regular $699 compared to the Control's which are $649 at Just Hockey. The main differences are the FT690's come with regular Step Steel, not the V-Steel the Control's come with which is a nicer steel. The Control's have brass eyelets at the top and bottom with aluminum in between while the FT690's are all aluminum eyelets. The foam and inner padding in the FT690's look like they are the same as the FT6's while the Control's seems the same at the FT680, but I can be wrong. What I love about the FT690's other than all the performance perks is the blackout stealth look, similar to the Bauer Mach's. Other than that, I believe they are the same boot with the same flexible tendon guard and ADPT tongue from the FT6 Pro's.

I bought the European model ft6 pros (live in USA) and they're a little stiff. But once I break them in fully I'm sure they'll feel better. I decided on the Europe version because I wanted to try the a stiffer skate than my FT2s and prefer the carbon look better.

I’m still rocking my old skates. Graf to old ccm tacks. To Bauer I remember when the first light skate was there. Bauer I forget the number but then Bauer 190 or 90. Anyway I got them as a demo. I took one shift and blocked a shot and the boot broke. Then they sent me another pair did the same thing. But I have good skates old but still great skates.

I’ve heard so many comments similar to what you just said. I’m working on getting them! We have the X Shift Pro skates but I have never been a fan of the entire (current) HyperLite2 and Vapor range. Massive let down from Bauer. Supreme on the other hand has been solid since Ultrasonic, so I am keen on the Mach exclusive range.

Pro Hockey Life in Canada had a Black Friday Sale on the FT 690's for $399 CDN which appears to be still going on the day after Cyber Monday. An amazing skate and very similar feel to my FT6 Pro's other than the Toe Box which is slightly narrower. The FT 690's graphics looks amazing in black! Also I noticed that the blades hit the ice much sooner during my forward stride and it was really throwing me off. I do mine up pretty snug (I've done it that way since the days of the old leather CCM Tacks)....but if you want more range of motion in the ankle for more power from the muscles, leave them a little looser at the top and you'll get effectively the same thing. It's hard to argue that the new skates aren't better from a performance standpoint to the old ones - the game gets faster and faster as time goes by.
