When the bottle is empty, "you just fill it up with air." Best line ever.
Sailing north from Panama to Florida we were stopped on the high seas by the Coastguard who asked near the end of their crappy visit, “what’s that”? Pointing to our large ditch bag. My partner said “that’s Bonnie”. “Who’s Bonnie”? Asked the coasty. She answered, “his ex wife “. Needless to say they couldn’t wait to get the hell off our boat!👍✌️😊🙏🏼⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
Thanks a lot for the credit Holly :-D It should be us thanking you for setting the example and for showing, what our lovely sturdy well sailing double enders are capable of. But most of all for being a young sailor, who has the courage to set out for the far horizon and giving us all a great story to enjoy. We are very proud, that you chose the double ended Grinde ( = pilot whale in English) for your circum navigation. She will not let you down. A word of warning to your traveller-fastening though: I am not happy nor comfortable with those nasty bolt ends. I would recommend you to saw them off with an angle grinder, which you could probably lend from someone, where you are. As suggested elsewhere in the comments, cover them with rubber or with a thin hardwood board, that you could sand to softer edges and just glue it to the coachroof with epoxi. Otherwise, you might hurt yourself one day when unaware. My personal perception of the traveller is, that it is totally redundant. I only sheet in the middle position, and it is just a nuisance and not really good for anything else than spreading the stress over two feet of length. I hope you can have your dodger soon, and I will try out out your link to paetron, so that I may contribute also. Keep it up and stay safe!
Everybody says that the reality of sailing involves a lot of boat maintenance, and a slower pace of life is an inherent part of chilling out in the Caribbean. Don't feel pressured to make every episode an adventure. Many of us are watching because we want to do something like this, so we want and need to see the reality. Fix your boat and go for a swim. :)
Greetings from Maine. Enjoy Martinique. It is a wonderful place. Unique
Safety equipment = vodka and peanuts. Explains why I feel so safe on Saturday nights! ;)

I love your reportage. It’s real. Unvarnished and an actual diary of events, responses and feelings. No one else does this. If you ever had a guest you could do it by having each present their version!! Like a Woody Allen movie.
Only episode 8, and you are already in my top favorite sailing channel. Awesome, keep on, thanks.
It's not just the sailing that we like to watch it's the whole experience.
Yes, totally, and the quirky humour, keep it coming.
Straight faced describing the ditch bag, i'm just as committed to safety as the next sailor. lol
The ditch bag sketch was hilarious! Well done
Dear Holly, just finished watching your video. One comment however. I recommend increasing the number of your little floatie bottles in your ditch bag, you can never be too safe. By the way, love your beautiful hair. Stay safe and will look for you next week. Rick
Ba ha ha, love your sense of humour, re your ditch bag! (You had me going at first, until you mentioned using the empty vodka bottles as buoyancy aids! From then on I just giggled and giggled!)
When I saw you had Poland Spring water in your ditch bag my heart just leapt with joy. To think you would be carrying a bit of Maine with you in your time of need is very comforting. 😂
Adrift!!! one of my fav books of all time.
I sail a trailer sailer but dream of off shore, when you tube first started I tried to find true cruising sail channels....there were none . then there was Drake Paragon and then a couple of years later La Vagabond and then an explosion of crap sail channels. Finally an honest real and inspiring channel has arrived. if you want to check it out its called "Wind Hippie Sailing" I wish you every happiness and appreciate what you are doing.
I'm still living my sailing dream vicariously through you:)
Me too
Hi, I was blown away by the gratitude you expressed for just having washed your hair ! In comparison to most of us then what a different world ?? I guess that's why I love to "fly on the wall" with you. Thank you.
I don’t know how I found your vlog but I’m hooked … so started from the beginning …
My wife and I are becoming addicted to following along with these vids of yours. You're so cool and really funny - thanks
I didn't get the the first ditch bag ......then I laughed my ass off!!! Made my day!
This was the best video to introduce the better half to your episodes. She really likes the ditch bag.
Hilarious episode Holly! I shall always remember the brilliant idea of alcohol in a paper bag! ;-)
great idea as float enhancers :-))
I was thinking, she is seasick and greatly exhausted,as she was deadpan serious.🙄😏😉
Still killing it.
LOL on floating mini bottles....loving your videos.....soooo real!
your sense of humor is hilarious, zany even... Love watching your videos and see the OCEANS you travel on.. Cheers from HB Cali..:)
What a choice of book for your ditch bag! I had to put Callahan's book down. His writing is just too good at bringing me into his extremely desperate situation. I can't imagine what it would be like to be reading his super intense book about being adrift in a life raft while I myself was also adrift in a life raft.
Great video. I think that was a sunken Alberg you saw. Pretty spooky. Fair winds and easy travels
I laughed so hard at your first ditch bag, your sense of humor is spot on! Freaky about the sunken boat, how lucky are you? Nice to see you so happy about those Danes, we are awesome people!!
Nena
Two thumbs up for thru-bolting the traveler, now hack saw off the threaded ends flush to the nylock nuts to save your scalp! Thanks for another great video!

I love your boat project videos; I appreciate you letting me into your life. I wish I was as brave as you are when I was young. Good luck with your journey.
Great episode 😊👍👍👍👍👍👍❤
Loved the format. Get a angle grinder and cut the bolts off flush with the nuts, just be careful with the sparks. Or borrow a power hack saw and cut them off. Don't leave them long like that 😖
Have a good week.
Love you. Safe travels from your friend in Syracuse New York.
Love yur approach to safety !!!
Now my favorite sailing channel🦋
Just found your channel and I’m LOVING it! Thanks! I have tons of catching up to do 😊

I love your chilled out sailboat videos. I'm told there's more to having a sailboat than just sailing and it's interesting to see what goes into maintaining one 😃

Hey,good to see you!!!Traveler done,rails(safe lines)done, so enjoy.Little trigger nibbled toes. Lol.🌊💙🧜🏻♀️
LOL you had me for a minute there...good one
“through bolt that sum bitch in” now you’re speaking my language! Some times you just have to show something who’s the boss! That expression has been around A LONG time, but was popularized by Jackie Gleason (a truly great actor IMO) in the movie “Smokey and The Bandit” by his character Beaufort T. Justice. I give you an A+ for proper contextual placement and execution!
I second your motion sir!🤣👍
The first ditch bag...u can hold onto the empty bottles as a float...LOL.. Love the deadpan delivery, that was awesome!
Just as I thought of the idea of the wood over the exposed bolts, you mentioned the broom handle. Well done on another very entertaining video, keep it real , and have a great time.
You are amazing!
love the ditch bags!! :)
First of your videos I’ve watched and the grab bag had me wetting myself laughing. That was bloody funny mate.
I love your blog and look forward to seeing more. Ed A

Hey rockstar!!! Great vid girl..... Thank you.
Being a cruiser it strikes me presupposes that one is a mechanic, carpenter among many other things. A very productive time. You share your life so wonderfully. I look forward to each weeks' video!!
You are a funny girl! The first ditch bag is awesome to keep you calm.
Great videos, well done girl.
💗 love your ditch bag 🙂
Love you DYI just as much as the sailing! I mean who would have thought of using a broom handle to cover those bolt ends! You are a sailor!! Can't wait till next Monday and your next episode! Till then be safe and God Bless!
I really enjoyed the alcohol/peanut safety bag deadpan! Excellent!
Your awesome girl! Such an inspiration! Im researching boats and watching sailing videos so i can hopefully be living on my own boat within 5 yrs. Thx for all the great content!
I like the broom handle fix. Good job
