  • r/Prorevenge In today's episode, OP works for an incredibly toxic boss who decides that he wants to date OP. He begins harassing her on an almost daily basis, and even gets OP's coworkers to pressure her into dating her boss. When OP turns him down, he begins setting her up to fire her. OP starts collecting evidence and contacts an employment lawyer. After he fires OP, he sues her for an estimated $500,000! Thanks for the generous severance package, boss!

Actually Rslash you were WAY too conservative with the Engineer manager salary. $135,000 is the Median for the job in USA with $100,000 being the minimum for a paycheck plus the highest amount could be as high as $166,000. at 5 years that is anywhere between $500,00 and $830,000. Yearly bonuses go between 5% and 15% too for regular engineers so probs 10% to 20% for a manager going with the average then you are looking at a total of $575,000 to $954,000 + likely legal fees adding up the company may have had to pay out a full Million dollars. Plus given she had a good boss and were apparently a very well known firm that made a ton of cash she probs earned close to the maximum amount.
so ya you were so conservative you only estimated it up to be HALF the likely amount at a max.

It seems that there are too many people out there that are so deep into their own pride and disgusting behavior that it's almost like they're willing to pay loads and loads of money for them. It seems to me like these people value their terrible behavior a lot than money. Seems like money is not the only source of evil in this world but rather, it could be involved in a huge penalty for refusing to let go of your terrible behavior.

I’m confused, a good number of stories involve some horrible boss doing probably horrible things to the point that a long and semi convoluted plan has to get created vs that boss, with more powerful people involved. Counter offers happen, the good employee is shifted around to mesh with the more powerful people, etc… seems like it’d be way easier to go omg, this is terrible, horrible boss you’re fired for this list of provable reasons. I’m not corporate though so maybe there’s some mass of hurtles to jump through, but they always do that for the good employee anyway.

A LOT of AITA, Petty Revenge, ProRevenge etc. stories are in fact stories made up for karma. It's like with those reddit posts who blandly steal art/photos/memes/etc. for karma. In most cases, it won't matter if some people catch on and point out what the redditor did- some people will still look only at the post and upvote/give awards. Once you farmed enough your account you scramble/delete your posts and comments and sell your account to someone who will use it for advertisement.
Figuring out which of those stories are true can be sometimes hard, but usually, I expect 9/10 of the stories to totally be made up. The rest is probably very one-sided.

The "son takes over business and runs it into the ground" story reminds me of my theory that business schools are purposely teaching crap in order to tank competition to big businesses. Because there's a ton of stories that start with "this recent business school grad came in" followed by the company going under or at least workplace conditions going to shit.

When you have a bad manager, make sure the bosses know. You have nothing to lose. If they don't care, you can still leave. If they are the problem, you can leave if you still want to but you will be helping your coworkers. In the first story the lawyers were smart enough to care about their paralegal staff. They clearly didn't know that Catherine was driving away vital staff. When they found out, they were smart enough to immediately address the problem.

CONSERVATIVELY: A senior Engineer makes an average salary of $124,441 per year in the US (Indeed). The average annual bonus is around $10k (Indeed). Average Lawyer fees, in the US are $100 to $300 per hour (Google). I read somewhere that the average (minimum) amount of billed time for a lawyer on this type of case is between 30 to 50 hours. Now if you take all of these rough numbers, then the salary and bonuses alone comes to $672,205. Add in the $30 to $50k in Lawyer fees and that is over $700k in A-hole taxes lol

Revenge 1: You know you're not suitable for your position when your behavior causes SIX admins to walk out on you. Catherine deserved to be stripped of that duty.
Revenge 2: First it's sexual harassment, next it's workplace bullying, and then it's falsifying claims. That son dug his own grave thinking he could get rid of a single worker.
Seriously, why are a lot of people in higher positions evil?
