    very accurate! and good food for thought. when I lived in Chapel Hill, I did "big city" things in Durham, now living in a Raleigh suburb I do more activities there. It's such a small difference in time but I rarely pop over to Nasher for an art show or DPAC, I'm much more likely to check out a Raleigh venue now. Even an extra 10-20 minutes commute ends up changing your habits a lot. so I'll steer clear of Fuquay, I'd never go out lol!

    Raised in Knightdale and love it just as much. But they are building a lot and I mean a lot. Which part of me is like the trees 🌲 which I love and want to see more of … that’s just my personal opinion. In terms of growth I feel as though the triangle has money because of all the building of (apartments, establishments , and also more fun things ) they do which excites me. Just wish they worked on roads faster sometimes. 😅 I moved away for 2 years but coming back it feels like home. In about 5 years I may move closer to the beach but this area is one of my favorites 🥰

    I lived in the Triangle from 1997 to 2010. The good thing about Raleighwood is many great jobs and high tech employers. The bad things are traffic congestion, the skyrocketing housing cost due to outrageous property and home owners insurance raises due to Hurricanes and all the Yankees from up north moving to the area and all of the massive bond issues to build new schools. It is so bad their that many Elderly and long term residents have sold up and moved away because they could no longer afford to keep their homes. Raleigh needs to do a better job and affordable housing choices. I enjoyed my time there but after I had to take a early retirement I could not afford to remain there.

      @WTHenry2023 Před 11 měsíci +4

      @shaded8293
      I have lived in Raleigh for decades. Raleigh USED TO BE a gem of a city. I called it the "biggest little-city" in the US in that it had all the amenities of a big city (great airport, ample shopping, professional sports, good roads, decent schools) yet still had a small town feel. That ended about 5-10 years ago; however, it has not felt like a southern city for a long time due to all the migration from the north for the last 4 decades.
      On the positive side, if you are in high-tech, pharmaceuticals, education or government, there are a lot of job opportunities. In addition, the area is beautiful with rolling hills, a mix of trees and some really nice suburbs. I am not one of those people who hates suburbs. I love them, despite needing a car, and they were an excellent place to grow-up and make friends! I have found through the years (ironically) that the higher the people density, the less people interact with each other.
      On the negative side, the roads are now very congested and Soviet style apartment blocks are going up everywhere. In terms of cost of living, unlike Florida, we have state income tax. In addition, housing prices have massively inflated since the Federal Reserve inflated the money supply during the "virus issue" so a 2000 sq. ft. house averages 300,000 - 400,000 depending on where you live in the area. I am looking to leave the area in the next 6 years as growth balloons and I no longer recognize the area.
      So, I can compare Raleigh to the Tampa area since I was seriously considering moving from Raleigh to Tampa 20 years ago since I wanted milder winters and better access to boating. In the early 2000's the roads in Tampa were good and the housing prices were slightly more affordable than Raleigh. I was back in the Tampa area for a visit two years ago and, like Raleigh, the area has exploded with growth and the traffic was horrendous. I would not move to Tampa now. By the same token, if I lived in a smaller town than Raleigh, I wouldn't move to Raleigh either unless a job brought me to Raleigh. Comparing the weather, Raleigh seems to average about 5 degrees cooler in the summer and about 10% less humidity on any given day.
      If you want more of a southern city, you may want to look at Greensboro or Greenville (both named after Revolutionary war general Nathaniel Greene).

    • @LivinginRaleighTV
      @LivinginRaleighTV  Před 11 měsíci

      Looks like you got some replies to your question. We don't know a lot about Tampa to be able to compare it. From what we understand, Tampa is much more humid, susceptible to hurricanes, a little bit larger. Traffic might not be as bad here because there is a lot of rural area between the major cities, where the Tampa metro has a lot of populated areas surrounding it.

    • @mtnlvr2157
      @mtnlvr2157 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Raleigh like others have said is basically full due to lack of infrastructure. You need a car and patience to sit in traffic for long periods of time. Don't like humidity? Raleigh's full of it in the months of July/August without the sea breezes you have in Tampa. Getting worse with climate change and overdevelopment (concrete's hotter than dirt). Taxes are higher. Southern hospitality? Most who live here aren't locals. They're from out of state/country. If you love diversity, Cary is a better place to socialize than Raleigh specifically. A lot of Floridians move to the mountains of GA or NC if you're not a beach person. On the plus side, there are lots of cultural things to do throughout the year plus pro hockey and soccer plus college sports (Be a basketball fan is a plus). Weather's not as potentially severe like Tampa. We do get our share of tornadoes and hurricanes/tropical storms but not like down in FL. No snow either usually or if we do get it, it's just a dusting for a few hours or a day. Conveniently located to all points on the road with major interstates. International airport. Better healthcare than FL; however, we need more providers due to the influx of new people. Lots of lakes, campgrounds, hiking trails, greenways, etc. NO alligators. Snakes though.

    Boy, moving to that area just blew my bubble. Because of the nuclear plant I just learned about, I will not move to Chapel Hills or any other town in the surrounding 50 miles of it. I did not realize there were 4 nuclear plants in North Carolina, that is not good for me, too paranoid. Thank you, for informing us of this very important issue.

    Don’t start every line with “You don’t want to live here if…” It makes you sound very biased. How about “this is what this city does and doesn’t offer”.

      We’ve already done a video like that for each of these cities. This video is about all the cities in the Triangle and reasons why each city may not a fit for everyone. We have created over 150 videos all about how amazing the triangle is and our whole channel is created to help and encourage people to move here. This is one video.

    Cary is perfect because you won't get that so-called "southern charm". Southern charm is so deceiving.

      I think channel owner is trying to explain both pros and cons. He is trying to show positive things of the towns, by highlighting the negative parts.

    If your talking about moving to a town that has class and is wealthy and family do not move to Zebulon it has middle class areas but most of its big wheels on trucks rednecks and the other parts are ghetto but if your looking for a town that's small that has lots of things to do and lots of businesses and has an awesome local team like the mudcats Zebulon is your best bet I like Zebulon it's my 2 favorite town in Wake county Raleigh is number one though because of its diversity
