  • At the beginning of June Jeff Ware picked up this beast, our latest BikeReview.com.au long termer, the BikeReview LiveWire. After Simon Harris attended the Aussie launch, MDM did the Euro launch and Paul Bailey did our track test, Jeff was keen to experience the bike for himself.
We will be updating you with regular videos here on our CZcams Channel and also on our website over a three month test, so our Winter here in Australia. Jeff will use the bike as his main transport during that time and only ride conventional bikes for his usual testing for his job as editor and publisher of BikeReview.
Jeff lives almost 100km from Sydney and there are no charging stations anywhere near his home so the challenge is great. So far, so good, he has gone one full month with no problems and actually says that he hasn't found any disadvantages to having electric over fuel just yet...

It will be interesting to see how the Air cooled Battery holds up long term

Zero motorcycles batteries seem to be holding up pretty well! Depends on the manufacturer for sure though

May try it one day, once I get the hang of fuel injected bikes (CBX1000 owner).

Needs left handle/throttle twist to engage if under 5 mph

Sounds better than a motorised Harley

Few questions if you have a chance:
    1. If you have your foot on the rear brake, does it still accelerate ? For example, riding the rear brake for slow manoeuvres in a carpark ? Or does the motor cut out when you hit the rear / front brake?
    2. In terms of bang for buck, how would you compare this to the Fonzarelli NKD? (given there is a cheaper rebranded Livewire coming). Obviously the Livewire is a different machine in terms of performance, but would you say it's worth the extra money?
    3. What's been your experience with CCS fast charging ? (not including charging at Harley Davidson)

For the first question I tried a live wire one a few weeks back and I can confirm that it still works with the brake pushed in. So parking lot maneuvers were still manageable

Nice vid & it's a pretty cool bike but there's still so much I find bizarre about electric bikes. I know they're inevitable but I'm just not ready yet!
