    I once built a death park in RCT3 with a ride named "Apollo 13". It was a drop tower that launched people at max speed and I built it at the smallest height possible. Yeah... You can guess all the damages I caused in my park.

      As far as what I could see it was mostly the operator than the tower itself...the fact that they took it down is kind of weird considering in the video of the incident you can see the operator ignoring his concerns about the restraints and like 5 or 6 other people around him AND IN LINE pointing out that his harness wasn't fastened. The operator was too busy chatting to a girl to the side. Then when he fell out the operator turned around slowly and confused as if he had NO IDEA what had happened. Didn't react at all. It was infuriating to watch, imagine someone dying because you just HAD to talk to that pretty girl. Sickning.

    • @chumon1992
      @chumon1992 Před rokem +14

      @CKG23 I mean sure, that's also true. However I place more blame on the operator as it is at the end of the day THEIR JOB to make sure they turn away people who are too heavy to ride. Letting them go anyway to "teach them a lesson" or get them to not yell or complain is NEVER a good idea as this could be the result. This isn't the first time something like this has happened due to an operator relenting and letting the person go on anyway. In this particular case, the operator did not care, or at least he didn't show any concern whatsoever in the video. Ultimately yes, they knew he was too heavy and he shouldn't have gone on, but even more so than that, he should have been denied entry, and the MOMENT other people started saying hey he's not buckled! The ride should have been stopped. Tyre himself even expressed concern over it multiple times. In the end the operator is supposed to know the ride the best. This guy simply didn't care. At least that's my take based on the video I saw of the incident. Which I do not recommend finding unless you really wanna see the guys behavior, otherwise it's pretty upsetting, even though they cut the ending its still extremely upsetting to watch.

I don't care how exhausted you are, they were YELLING to not start the ride. I watched the full uncut video. I agree that it's the fault of the park too for having him working that late and long to begin with, and for hiring teens who can't handle their shifts, but it's ALSO, his fault. I've ridden this tower close to 70 times now and the ejector airtime is still amazing and feels like a camelback on Expedition Geforce.
    One very important record holder has to be mentioned here as well: Hangover. It's the tallest portable Gyro Drop tower with 85m or 190ft. Made by Funtime.

    My condolences go out to the family of Tyre Sampson, which caused the tragic incident on the Orlando freefall tower. I fully believe that it was the operators fault, and, especially Funtime, the manufacture of the tower. I believe they didn’t have the right and safe restraints. I believe it was literally just a lap bar, but there was no seatbelt involved. And for a drop tower that is so massive, and that tilts 30°, I think it should’ve been safer. I think that they should rebuild it again, with entirely new safety strategies. I believe this is such a fun and unique drop tower experience. I think that Funtime should build an even better version of the tower, or maybe turn to Intamonn, which I believe, have some of the best and safest drop towers in the world.

      There were over the shoulder bars too in the video but they were not secured. I went to sick flags with a friend of mine and he couldn't ride superman because he couldn't buckle the seat belt. He was pissed he couldn't ride but not at the operator or six flags, just the situation. Either way, the ride op was not at all concerned. im gonna be honest, and I know this is a controversial opinion, but length and speed aren't everything on a drop tower. I went on Lex Luthor drop of doom and if you aren't simply scared of being up that high it really is mid. The acceleration is slow so the forces are very gradual, it's the same reason why faster launches are more fun, they're more forceful.
