@@thebumpchannelwhat can i use to also repel? im going to tey this next week in my new home but also would like to repel then from coming back i have 3 about to be four kids and i dont want them eatin alive loo thanks for the video
Great Video with a reminder to protect our bees. I just ordered Talak 7.9 F Bifenthrin Insecticide Concentrate (3/4 Gallon) for 48.49 and TEKKO Pro 16oz for 45.00 after watching this video. I think the 7.9 is the new replacement.(I think)
I've been using OneGuard Multi MOA Concentrate 1Quart for 114.96. The Tekko pro is not necessary with the OneGuard.
Notes: Add a 1/2 gallon of water and pour in your mix while still pouring water in for a better even mixture. The insecticide might go directly to the sprayers hose in a heavily concentrated form leaving the rest of the mixture diluted. Wear the better mask and get sealed no fog goggles for extra safety.
Use non ethanol gas. Your carburetor will thank you.
Looking forward to posting the compared results!

Thanks for putting in the time to make this informative vid. I have that same Tomahawk sprayer. It works great (but is heavy). Covers really well. I use Talstar P but I might add the inhibitor. It is true, you will save money and it will pay for itself in one season. I don't regret it, neither will those considering the DIY approach. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful! With the IGR it seems to last longer. I usually wait until I start seeing mosquitos again before I spray the yard, unless we are having a outdoor party or something. Can get 6 weeks or more out of it.
Great video! This will save me $600 the first year. Then $800 in future years. Bugs are very bad in northern NH this year.
Glad I could help! If you a paying for this service and you are a "mow your own lawn type", its a no brainer!
I live in Middleton Nh and pay 117 per visit and I still get eaten alive!!!! I’m gonna try this!!!!
Very informative sir. Well done. Thanks

Wow, great tutorial. You answered every conceivable question I had about this! I was hesitant to buy a backpack sprayer, but I think you’re right about it paying for itself pretty quickly.
Glad it was helpful! yeah it really does pay for itself, especially if you are already paying for spraying, value your time, or can split with neighbors etc.

Great video, thanks for the useful tips and info. I have used Bifen I/T with great success, I am now trying the Bifen XTS to see if it will last longer.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! I have had great results with just Bifen and adding the IGR. I definitely recommend buying in bulk to save the most $.
I already do my own landscaping. And paying $150 (pest + mosquito) to Orkin this is a no brainer, I’m doing it.
Great to hear! It is a no brainer! Good Luck and thanks for the comment! You won't regret it.
Hey That’s $150 month I’ve been eyeing one of these sprayers for awhile but I’m ordering one
@@josephpuchel6497 you won't regret it
100% agree. Except I got the Mosquito Sniper System to attach it to my leaf blower
Great video! I use the Mosquito Sniper system and it performs very similar to the Tomahawk backpack sprayer at a fraction of the cost (I think it was ~$50)
Good stuff! Wanted to try that but opted for the larger tank and ease of use the sprayer provided. Can treat 3/4 acre property in one tank in about 10 minutes. Its definitely a time saver.
It’s a good idea to add a surfactant to the water. This helps the water droplets spread out, and not bead up like it does on a freshly waxed car. 1 teaspoon of dish soap, or baby shampoo is a good surfactant that everyone will commonly have.
Good idea. Thx for sharing!

Live in very very small area now with the squiter meter maxed. Thanks for the info on product. Used to have property sprayed about .25 acre for 75 every 3 weeks. It was lake front property and the spray was a blessing. Noticed flies also stayed away as well. Now to take care of my little bubble.
Good luck with your DIY! Its well worth the little time, money, and effort! Wish I lived on the water!
I'm new to mosquito land. Good to hear there is something that worked.

Thank you for this. Can you clarify if these insecticides are safe for the birds and fledglings, butterflies, bees, toads and such in my yard? And, you said it's safe for humans and pets once dry, but, what about when it rains, and these chemicals drip/run off and puddle and my dog happens to step in it and groom later, ingesting even tiny amounts?
excellent video brother. Help me a lot.

I use Cyonara and I mix in some garlic barrier in cuz I like the smell lol...and proof I did it like the pros. 😆
I do like the smell of garlic but would make me hungry all the time, 😆
I use Talstar P or Wisdom TC good stuff
Looks like Wisdom is another bifenthrin option. Thx for the comment and thx for watching.
honestly thank you so much for this video i cant wait to try this,, you said it kills them what repels them? or just do this monthly pretty much? and what happens if the neighbors dont apply on their property are they still going ti be around then
I treat about every 6 weeks or until I start seeing mosquitoes. Helps if neighbors do as well obviously (can also offer to do their if the chip in on chemicals).
FL gal here looking for all the DIY goodies! TY for the video! Do you mix both solutions in the tank at the same time? I think in the video it was implied but I just wanted to make sure. I am wanting to get a Tomahawk and the Bifen I/T and Tekko Pro. I have an acre of land with a lot of foliage.
Yes ma'am at the same time. Just add both to the tank with water and spray once at same time.
Barefoot Mosquito here in Austin charges $130 per treatment. Natural treatment/repellant. every 3 weeks! i"m going to cancel that ! Ordered Tomahawk today!
You won't regret it. Can spray in 15 minutes and save a ton of money if you already paying for service. My wife is so happy and actually enjoys being outdoors now!
Thanks for the video. I started doing this last year and made my money back in one season. i use Demand CS.
Never tried it but has great reviews. Demand CS is 6X more expensive than Bifen IT. Approximately $3 per mixed gallon versus $0.50 per gallon. I can't get past the price difference.
@@thebumpchannel i will need to buy that one next time.
Adding IGR will raise your $ per gallon but Demand only treats adults which is why I can't get past the cost difference when I've had success with cheaper products
Nice product introductions.

Just got a Stihl backpack blower/mister for Father's Day. I've ordered the mosquito chemical kit from DoMyOwn at a great discount. I live in South Florida and the mosquitoes and insects in general are crazy aggressive since it never falls below freezing temps.

@@thebumpchannel , question, I have been using the Excite R in 1oz per gallon along with the Telstar P 1oz per gallon and the mosquitoes don't seem to be effected by the now 3 applications in one weeks time. I don't understand why. Maybe I need to up the amounts but the recommended amounts of poison to kill mosquitoes doesn't seem to be working. Keep in mind that I just started spraying this week. I have seen a few wasps dead on the ground so I know it's strong enough to kill a larger insect than a mosquito. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your assistance
@@jeffreycollier1805 have you had a lot of rain? That doesn't make much sense. I'm just getting ready to spray only for the second time this year and am still not seeing any. A water source or standing water nearby, maybe?

Not really. Applied once so far this year and no mosquitos. Have been getting close to 6 weeks before seeing any. Thx for watching!
My backyard doesn’t have any shrubs but I have grass area of about 30’x40’. Gardners come once a week but mosquitos like to linger in our backyard. How often do I have to spray and do I just spray it directly to the grass or along my fence line as well? Thank you
I have good results that last 6 weeks or so, doing it myself.
I always get the largest size of everthing i use and the Bifen IT is my drug of choice

What setting for the mister nozzle have you found that works best?
Not sure. I set it and forget it, lol. Mine is just a small dial if I recall.
Can I spray the tall star p out of my mister/sprayer? I usually use it as a barrier with a pump sprayer around the base of my house and around openings. I want to spray it for mosquitos this year. Can I use the mister to spray the base of house and around the windows also? And all the shrubs and trees?
Not sure what you a call a mister, but sprayers like the ones' shown in video are made for this use. Thx for watching!

Was going to look into applying this, but couldn't figure out how to keep the pollinators safe. I have many helpful honeybees and bumbleebees that visit our flowers and as much as I hate mosquitoes, bifenthrin is highly toxic to the pollinators.
It's definitely a consideration. Thx for watching!
Look into in2mix buckets.
Are these products safe on leaf debris that will wind up in my compost pile and ultimately in my vegetable garden?
Not sure. I would refer to the label guidance.
Thanks for the info. I also came across the Bifen I/T 7.9%, do you know anything about that?
That's it. Same thing. Link in comments.
Great video for this first timer. My bill from my mosquito control company is $386 for one season. My biggest concern is the safety of my dogs. They are Parson Russell terriers and enjoy munching on the wood mulch at the bottom of my plants/hedges. Are the products you recommend toxic after drying if consumed by pets? It appears the fogger doesn't allow much moisture to reach the ground and a fogger is what my commercial exterminator has been using the last two years and it doesn't seem to adversely effect my dogs. Please advise.
Always refer to the product labels for safety concerns. Could also ask the company you use to provide you info on chemicals they spray to validate your concerns as well. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
Do I mix Bifen and tekko and the same time or use them separately?
At same time unless you want to spray twice! Appreciate the comment. Thx for watching!
Can this be sprayed on your garden or flowers and vegetables?
The same active ingredient is approved for agricultural crops, however the label for this product is not approved use. This article does a better job of explaining

It would be "off label" use if so, but I would use some common sense and educate myself on the topic.
How has the tomahawk sprayer held up? I've been looking into purchasing a sprayer but cant decide between the stihl and tomahawk. Obviosly there is a big cost savings going with the tomahawk. I own about 35 acres with 3.5 acres I plan on actively spraying. Thanks!
Only had mine going on 3 years. No issues so far. I assume the stihl is 2x in price. I love stihl, but only use the sprayer 4 or 5 times a year, so went cheaper. Rest of my yard equipment is stihl which gets used almost weekly.
Gonna try this IGR next season. Outstanding tutorial! I always found Suspend polyzone works better than talststar
Never tried it...looks to be a bit more expensive
Bifen I/T 128oz jug on Amazon has a different looking label than I'm used to. Is it the same ole Bifen I/T?
Yes. Both links in video description are manufactured by Control Solutions. I think the amazon listing is an old image.
Bifen I/T: (DoMyOwn) shrsl.com/35f88 (Amazon) amzn.to/2YPIkz8
It is Talstar the same as Bifen? And how long last? I mean after rain do I have to spray again?
Yes same active ingredient. I have been getting 4-6 weeks before reapplying. If I have a party or something coming up I might spray, but otherwise I won't spray until I start seeing them again which is several weeks later.
We paid 80 a month but had to start in April and stop in September so six months at 80.00 total 480. The problem was when the guy came and sprayed and it rained two hours later I have to call and they would send someone out. So…. I might give this a try I guess my question how long will one gallon of each last me ? If it’s effective and last one season this will be my way to go.
The Bifen will last several seasons. The IGR is more expensive and smaller bottle, so might get 2 seasons depending on yard size but will get you better results. I have only been spraying every 6 weeks or so with great results.
I just started sprayering for them but a week and half later they came back . Could that be because it rain for 4 days straight or for watering the grass ?
I applied once so far this year and no mosquitos. Have been getting close to 6 weeks before seeing any in previous years. Bifen only or did you add an IGR?
Hey How’s the sprayer going. I subscribed. Ive been eyeing this sprayer and other equipment by Tomahawk. Excellent product.

I would refer to product label but would you don't think you could apply and keep it out of the pool? Obviously is very dilluted as is...and even further in a pool
I have one of those cutter corded foggers. Can I use these chemicals in that?
Not sure. I'm not familiar with it.
Hi there, along with flowering plants, should vegetable gardens be avoided too during spraying?
If you are worried about bees then probably. I would refer to label for guidance about food crops.
The same active ingredient is approved for agricultural crops, however the label for this product is not approved use. This article does a better job of explaining

It would be "off label" use if so, but I would use some common sense and educate myself on the topic.
Is there a similar product that can be applied with a hose end sprayer?
The same products can ba applied using a hose end sprayer. Just add chemical to reservoir on hose end sprayer and set rate to 1 oz per gallon for most products. Of course you will want to confirm rates per product labels.
The issue with hose end sprayer and even the garden sprayer is you will end up using a lot more chemical for same area as it delivers very large droplets. The foggers are going to be more effective in delivering the chemical into foliage that mosquitos hide in and won't waste chemicals with over applying.
The fogger will pay for itself in long run in savings from excess spray and $ spent on chemicals.
Does Bifen also treat for ants? I get a company to spray annually as I have a bad ant problem. It looks like the product says it treats for ants but I don't know how effective it is on ants and that's my biggest issue. Also we can't get Bifen in Canada. Any other product recommendations?
Bifen does kill ants, but the stuff below is great for ants.

You got something for flies? There are lots of flies that hang out in my bushes, plants, and grass. The flies are really annoying when we’re having outdoor bbqs and being outdoors in general. I need these flies under control.
Bifen works for flies as well.
Do you mix both Bifen and Tekko in the same cycle or use each one in a different cycle?
Mix them both at the same time and apply together.
Thx for watching and I hope you consider subscribing and please give the video a thumbs up!
what about using a hose end sprayer to apply Bifen IT? I've been using a 2-gal sprayer on my 6000-sq-ft yard. It works, but takes a while using a 2-gal sprayer. :) I do have a hose end sprayer which I use for weedkillers. Just wondering if I should try to use it with Bifen IT this year. Thanks! 😀
Droplets would be pretty big and would likely waste a bit. Big advantage of the mister is the droplet size and the power to deliver into a bush under the leaves where they hide in shade.
@S_Paoli I used to use a 2 gallon pump sprayer. BUUUUUT, everytime I turned around I had to reapply!!
I then tried a hose-end sprayer!
Just used an old Cutter spray bottle that attaches to your hose.

Much cheaper than a fogger and takes up a helluva lot less space in my garage.💯

I just spoke to a franchise mosquito spray company this morning. They quoted $79 every 3 weeks. I have a question, 90% of my shrubs, plants and trees are flowering. I assume I should just spray the perimeter avoiding these. We have a field behind our house with a lot of wild growth behind our fence which would benefit for the treatment as well. Thanks for the informative video.

Awesome. Yeah it's a no-brainer if you were paying for service and don't mind doing it yourself. Only takes 10 minutes with sprayer and pays for itself in 1st season.
So when did mosquitoes start staying in individual yards?
Mosquito spray chemicals last up to 90 days so they soon die if they do enter. I was a sceptic as well at first, but stuff works wonders. Also helps if neighbors are on board so offer to spray theirs as well and chip in on chemicals.

🐝Very sad that you didn't mention that it's best to spray in the morning or evening when mosquitoes are most active.🐞
Unfortunately most people don't have the common sense 🐝 You don't want to spray in daytime that's when the pollinators are most active, unless you don't have anything blooming in your yard that would be all right 🐝
Just FYI I looked up the Bifen IT abs it is toxic to dogs. Have you used any other pet friendly ones that worked ok?
Bifen IT is safely used in thousands of homes across the country everyday. Bifen IT is safe for use around pets when used according to the label. You should always keep children and pets away from the area while you are treating, and then once the treatment is dry it is perfectly safe to allow pets to re-enter the area
Yeah, but what happens when you have puppies and dogs that like chewing or bushes and some grass?? I know they say it's safe when dry but don't think the have anything for me with dogs that chew like cows
What if you have artificial turf?
Check the label, but I assume you can spray it.

Not sure.
Look into Ecovia MT or Mirimichi Green for safer mosquito treatments for bees.
Or In2care mosquito buckets. They work great but you have to get a company to get them for you.
Proflex has regulators in it so really is a all in one insecticide.
