    Get it while you can. 15 yrs experience in the PC industry here. If California or NY get there way products including Bifenthrin will be going away eventually. A little goes a long way…read the directions! Also add about an ounce of Dawn dish detergent to your mixture. Dawn is a surfactant. It will make your mixture adhere to whatever you apply it to thereby lasting longer and resisting weather a bit better.

    Thanks for mentioning bees... but also keep in mind the spray dosnt know the diffrence from a mossie, moth, or butterfly... so you're killing all the benificial insects at the same time and starving the critters that feed on them. My suggestion is dont do the whole neighbourhood. If you're hanging out mainly in the back, then no need to do the front yard too. Best thing you can do is break the breeding cycle by eliminating open water sources, which shouldn't be too hard as you're in Utah right, which mostly a dry climate (except for that lawn which looks like it gets watered pretty often).

  • @eowen6087
    @eowen6087 Před rokem +1

    The problem with this treatment is application material, time, and equipment. First, Talstar is best for surface application and structures. Second, the time you are applying it is in daylight when all other non-target pests are active. Like bees, butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, wasps, etc. The equipment used sprays a coarse spray. It need to be below 20 microns. A fog formulation. It also need to be sprayed after dusk when the only insects active are midges and female mosquitoes, which are the only one that take blood meals and carry diseases. Male mosquitoes live on nectar and plants. Oh and FYI, I have owned a pest control company for 30 years and have extensive experience in vector control and municipal mosquito abatement.

    Dynatrap has worked for me. I have a small stream in my back yard that attracts so many mosquitos. We leave this running as soon as the snow melts all spring summer fall for three years. It has decimated the mosquito population. The key is to have it out asap in the spring to catch the females before they breed. Also, keep it about 12 feet from where you hang out in the back yard so it gets the mosquitos away from you. I still use coils and tikis for parties but this product has really helped. It won’t help if you put it out for a party because it’s basically like having another human there attracting the mosquitos. You need to use repellants for that. This brings down your mosquito population in general.
    Spraying seems effective too! Very informative.

    Great video! I hate summers here where I live just because our yard and patio cannot be enjoyed due to the mosquitos. We've tried so many things, but never misting. My personal feeling is that mosquitoes should be eradicated from existence, but that's beside the point for now. In looking at this video and the options you showcased and being that I'm quite mechanically inclined and an avid tinkerer, I think I could combine a cordless leaf blower, a standard tank sprayer and a wheeled frame to build a non backpack mister. Certainly gives me another little challenge and project to try out and if it works out, I could save the trouble of a gas operated engine (I've grown to hate working with gasoline and oil in this new, electric era) and also save a few pounds of weight of weight on my back and perhaps a few hundred dollars. Your video has inspired this idea and I'm pretty sure I can make it work. Beautiful mountain scenery and beautiful yard by the way!

You can spray this every 21 days and still have mosquitoes ruining your outdoor time if you have not taken care of any water where they lay their eggs. If you have untreated water anywhere outside, (excluding pools or fountains with a running filter and chemicals in it) you will most likely still have a mosquito problem.

    Does this work for blind mosquitoes too close to a lake? Does it kill or just repel?

    Very informative. Any suggestions on a alternative product that I would be able to use in the obnoxiously restrictive state of NY where I can’t purchase this? Thanks!

      Been in pest control for 10 years and I won’t do any job with chickens. To much hassle and risk. The chickens will eat all the dead bugs(and pesticide).
      Train the chickens to fly and eat mosquitos:)

    Respirator is required for a fogging application.

  • @MrHanowski
    @MrHanowski Před 2 lety

    Nice video, but what's the difference between your chemical and "fogging" chemicals? Which works better? Not crazy about killing EVERYTHING, just mosquitos. What about PPE for applying? Seems like you should be using a respirator to protect yourself.

      Just keep them inside until first frost, they'll all be fine. That is if we will hsve frost ever again. Those critters will outlive us no matter. They probably have eggs under Antarctic ice.
