As awesome as the paintjob is, I have to say, that is one clean man, considering he's drudging through a mud covered hellhole.
Very beautiful base! Well done, but don't you think the mini is a bit out of place compare to this new one? The Krieg is very clean and bright when the atmosfere from the base seems to fit a more dirty look. A carefull use of the pigments on the minis too? Particullary on the bottom of the trench coat can do the trick! (don't know if it's enough for a golden demon entry, but really sells out the effect)
Apart from being informative and well-made, with a great level of artistry and skill, you're always so damn funny, man. When I watch these videos, I feel inspired to paint, I learn things, but also laugh a tonne along the way. If I could like this video more than once, I would.
Put an ork boss on the sand base. Add some scrap - voila. More content.
I really love the way it turned out. The only thing I have to say is that the model looks too clean for a mud/trench base. Maybe you could've added a couple of mud stains to his boots and pants. Just making the model look a little bit more weathered might've really made it more authentic. Having said that, it still looks AMAZING!

Redoing old mini projects is great! Reminds us all that we can always pickup something we've "finished" and change it up.
I can see it's been said before, but it needs to be said again. The soldier is super clean and the base is super dirty. With a base like that, I'd be pitching the model more towards grimdark, with mud spattering on his legs and coat. He can still be clean up top, but at the moment it looks like he just teleported in from a parade ground.

The Green + Grey + Red isn't that strange. Coming from watercolor, red+green a valid way to make browns and grays depending on the pigment, especially if you use a garish green like phthalo green blue shade. A warmer red mixed with it makes it more brown, while a cooler red pulls it to grey.
Wow!!! Just...Wow!!! That figure is jaw droppingly good and just pulls your eyes to it!!! The new base is much better but is just the frame to the work of art. 👏👏👏👏Love watching your videos. As someone else has said, they are informative and funny a real joy.👍👍😉

I have no idea how they judge this. I'm thinking the bricks should be broken with bits of mortar on them and the Krieger should be dirty. The mud sort of works against what you want and a cleaner cobblestone street would've matched your clean paint job better. But maybe judges don't take the realism aspect into it at all.

As it's a golden demon, i would maybe add some writing (as a ref. for the WWII) on the sand bad, to make them a bit more interesting ! What do you think ?
I would have taken multiple photos before removing the blu-tac to know how exactly to replace them. Don't know if it's possible to recreate the same scene though. I love the result !

The mini is good. The problem is where do the bricks come from? they look random. Better a empty ammo can, more sandbags in an arc or even a small wall if yo want bricks.The base still doesn't tell a story or it doesn't fix the model in space and time.

That liquid pigment you used is very light and stark in color, but all the light colors do that to some extent, smooth it out with thinner. But they need some practice to get right

Yeah, ak liquid enamel pigments are pretty much useless, I much prefer applying classic dry pigments, then feathering them with mineral spirits as military dioramas people do, much more control.

The shovel is the wrong type for Krieg... Wrong gear pattern....
Either you are incorrect or I guess Games Workshop made a mistake, since it was literally in the pack with the krieg kill team
i absolutely love AK products but that liquid pigment is dog$hit, its the other type in the bottles like the streaking grime you want :)

I think you wasted the base. It doesn't look as good compared to the others where the whole base of the plinth is not being used.
Why a blue shovel? This doesn't even make sense man. It's not the base that is the problem, it's you. You spend 100 hours on something that can be done in 5 hours, enter a contest and lose. Then you enter the same contest with the same mini again but another base with a blue shovel, have you ever seen a blue shovel in real life? And you expect to win?
If you paint me a model in the same quality in 5 hours, I will pay you $1000 🫢
