As someone who has owned a Steam Deck, Rog Ally, and now a Legion Go, none of these handhelds are perfect. They all have their pros and cons. Pick whichever one you’re happy with and call it a day

@@pelejuljusit’s all about preferences if u like a big screen with some cool features pick the legion go if you like smaller size and also runs anything you want easy portable then the other 2 being able to hook up a xg mobile go with the ally or if u want the easiest console like experience where it’s way more console friendly go with a steam deck

      @TheRealist1. Před 7 měsíci

@@pelejuljusAlly... Steam Deck is the best, but you're limited to Steam. You can rig other apps to run on desktop mode sometimes. Valve has streamlined the experience on Steam with a compatibility rating and games list. It's been around longer, plus is that they have it near console with ease of use... Minus is it's older hardware. Ally has more compatibility than Legion so far, and runs newer games better than Steam Deck. Will ROG and Lenovo put the work into streamlining their hardware like Valve? That's the risk you're taking, they don't have stores and they're not as invested as Valve.

Only thing for me (I've had the Legion Go for 19 days), is that the battery life is far better if you actually manually go in and adjust your tdp and resolution scaling based on whatever game you're playing. It tends to run a lot more power than it needs to. For example, my longest play session so far replaying FF7 Remake netted me just about 3 hrs and 15 minutes at 20 tdp. Where as something like God of War 3 on PS3, amped up on 1440p with 2x scaling would required the full 35 tdp, and gets me a whopping 70 minute battery time. You can already changed all key mapping to any key on the device, you simply need to do it via regedit. As far as seeing battery life, all I did was add a widget on the desktop for that, which I just googled and downloaded.
I have a steam deck too, and had an ally until it melted my $190 SD card, but at this point I'm happy enough with the legion that my steam deck is going to be on its way to facebook marketplace soon :P

You shouldn't apologize at all. I have no idea where this narrative began that just because it's a windows device, you should expect hours upon hours of updates, errors, and troubleshooting. I've had numerous gaming PCs along with a One X Player 2, Win 4, Win Max 2, Aya Neo Geek 1s, Steam Deck, and a AOK Zoe A1 Pro. All of them were better out of the box than the Ally and Legion Go.
We should not have to just accept a messy experience out of the box. Many of these issues were painfully obvious and Lenovo could have fixed it before they released it. Instead, they pushed the embargo date back and released it knowing that it was completely unfinished. The community needs to stop accepting that business practice from any company.

    UPDATE AS OF 11/15/2023
Most of my software issues have been fixed with recent updates from Lenovo! The menu button now ONLY opens the quick settings as I wished it would. FPS counter has been fixed. And the Legion Space software feels less buggy and actually over lays every game I play now without hassle. I still wish that the screen had VRR and the battery life was better, but overall it's a much smoother/better experience already since this video went live.

I've owned the Deck and Rog, and I've pre-ordered the Go. The Deck is a fantastic system, but SteamOS currently doesn't support many of the games I enjoy. So, it's not as simple as just picking up the Deck and playing. SteamOS is a challenge for me. It will be fantastic when it can run all games, but until then, I'll be waiting for the Deck 2. On the other hand, the Rog gave me nothing but problems, with two SD cards burning out, terrible analog stick deadzones, frequent crashes, and sticky buttons. I ended up returning it. The Legion Go has everything I'm looking for in a handheld device, a bigger screen. similar to the Nintendo Switch joy cons detachment, and it can also function as a tablet.

I thought the same and bought it for the same reason. I am really trying to like this device but it constantly glitches while playing fast paced fps games like cod. my steam deck handles it with np with windows installed. the screen and color is amazing but cod is my goto and I can't even get a kill streak bc of the glitches and controller sensitivity. try it out, if you're used to the steam deck, you may not like it. I purchased a 2tb model from micro center.

I'd love a software option in FPS mode to disable the mouse laser and activate the right joystick as a mouse so that all buttons can be fully mappable as keyboard/mouse button inputs.
The binding of the back buttons as only single input 'xbox' face buttons in Xbox mode feels a little lackluster. Macros would be far more suitable, especially when the customisation of controls with the Steamdeck has already shown so many QoL improvements.
It's a game changer to be able to assign two inputs to one button in games like Elden Ring.
Multiple profiles under the Xbox controller setting would be a very welcome addition, so we don't have to undo and redo our controls on swapping games.

The rog ally also did not include a case and for $39 you get a crappy soft shell case. I didn't like the fact that you had to add emulators to the asus app launcher for controls to work in emulation. I got a legion go from microcenter with a 2tb ssd pre-installed and I love it. Legion Space could use some improvements and they need to catch up on GPU drivers but you can manually install the latest amd graphic driver in device manager. It's amazing playing tekken 4 and 5 at 4x resolution butter smooth on an 8.8 inch display with widescreen patches of course. The only thing I liked better on the rog ally was the fact is has VRR support.

I currently own ayaneo 2, steam deck, rog ally, and the aokzoe a1 pro. I found my aokzoe a1 pro was my favorite it does have allot of short comings but overall great experience. After a few days with legion go i have to say my first impressions of the decide are really good. The screen and ergonomics are really good the software is crap and I've had it crash a bunch of times but i know that will get sorted out with updates. I really wish the upgrade of the hard drive was as easy as the ally where i don't have to clone the drive especially if I just want to start with the blank slate. It's such a bitch to have to go through all that. I really wanted the ayaneo kun but ended up going with legion go my experience with the ayaneo 2 was annoying. So i passed on them this time, to be honest i never liked my rog ally the screen with boarders look ugly not very immersive. I don’t like using the Legion space, so I would like to prevent it from launching after start up. Anyone know how? I checked the startup apps in settings but it’s not on there. I know there is a way to add applications to that start up setting messing around with the windows files, but not sure if the same can be done with preventing apps to launch on start up. It uses a fair amount of memory so keeping it from launching would be nice, any tips?

I'm really looking foward to buy one ever since it appeared. I've never had a gaming PC and my laptop is suffering to run the most simple games sometimes. So it would become my new "main PC".
Sadly here on Brazil, besides the fact that these things cost a kidney and an eye, you can't go anywhere carrying something like this, hell, we can't even hold our phones without worrying about thieves. So it would mainly stay inside my house, docked, which is definitely not a problem.
I'm really loving all the videos on it, and hopefully in a year or so when I can buy it there will be tons of new features and updates. ❤

The LeGo has been a mixed bag for me. Some games run great, others require more fiddling than I would expect. The latest update seems to have stabilized things a bit for me. One game I was having issues with, Returnal, was dropping frames hard no matter what tdp setting I had. Even at 800p FSR it wasn't great. But I think it's now playable for me. A lot less stuttering.
Also I agree about the speakers. Reviews claimed they were bad. And compared to the Deck speakers the LeGo speakers are trash. But they're very serviceable. Definitely could be better but I can deal. Maybe they would be better if they were on the front or bottom of the device as opposed to the top so that way the sound is going towards you instead of away.

The device charging slowly when in use sounds like a design choice, Ally does it, Steam Deck does it once 90% charge is reached (really horrible implementation of this feature), SONY has been doing it for ages, Samsung tried coining the technology as their own not too long ago, it's a pretty good idea to use the wall power instead of the battery when charging, it's a shame it's not more common yet.
Why would the device tell you the power level if it's off? It's more or less a laptop, it's not a function computers typically have.
Quick Settings seems to always have issues no matter the device, Steam Deck does it the worst by far. 9/10 times the menu won't open, sometimes you can trick it by mashing the button a few times. It's gotta be something to do with what programs and tabs the devices prioritize.
I can't imagine the display issue with games has to do with the landscape/portrait displays, Win11 itself should be telling every piece of software what orientation the screen is in.
