The lenovo legion go is a handheld mobile gaming PC similar to the steam deck OLED and Asus ROG ally. Unlike these however, the lenovo legion go is more of a full PC with the potential to replace your gaming laptop with this new much more versatile and compact form factor.

Another major selling point is that it has 2x USB C 4 ports. No proprietary connections. So attaching an eGPU or charging the device while connecting an external drive or other peripheral is super easy. Ally and SD only have one port as far as I know and they're not USB C 4.
No vrr though
@@Nick71237why not?
You can detach the right joystick knob off and put it in the carry case when in mouse mode.. read it in the online manual!
Came here to say this
You can remove the thumbstick and store in the hole next to where the controller base is stored in the case
I think this is probably a good screen size to manage portability and function. The number of people playing by hooking up a mouse and keyboard but still using this display is probably pretty small. More likely they'll put it in a dock with a tv & controller, or with a monitor and keyboard/mouse.
Mine is in the mail. Goal is using it with a 60% keyboard I bring in my bag anyway. My 13 in laptop recently kicked the bucket. I think the smaller screen will be fine because 90% of the time I can dock my laptop and the other 10% of the time I am not working and probably playing a lighter game. Friends and I are already planning more LANs. So at the very least it's making more close gaming opportunities.
5:06 FYI, the cap can be removed and stored in a cutout in the case. Thanks for the review!

This is a great device. I have the Legion, Deck, and Ally and it's this one I come back to to use. Steamdeck is amazing, but I find I use Windows apps too often to give up easily (and there are some games I can't run on the Deck. Loved the Ally until it killed my SD card :(
always get endurance card, samsung or sandisk
I have all 3 as well but find myself using the Ally the most, I wanna like the Legion go but it feels horrible in the hands and too bulky for me compared to the deck and ally, also the battery is somehow even worse than the allys (which the Ally battery life sucks)
ayaneo gpd win one player exists too you know
@@The_Theist_Scientist yeah for astronomical prices that no one wants to pay for handhelds :/ ayaneo and gpd aren't known very well anyway
That's why I refuse to touch the ally, ANY microSD card that you insert will die from heat.
Hey just a tip here you can remove the anolog stick when in fps mode
10" is too much for me.8,8 is quite perfect especially if u want to game non competitive gaming. For productivity all i need is extra monitor.
TMI, we don’t need to know what size your prefer. Keep it pG.
Even 7 inches is too much for me. I’m skeptical about 8.8 let alone 10 lol
@@switchunboxing wait till u get older and eyesight get bad. Reading those rpg text is so hard hahahaa.
@@Greatbylook Yeah I might (wait til I get older that is).
As a switch player, one thing I might need to get used to it is these games not being optimized for a small screen. But maybe windows games have a better likelihood of coming with more customization, so maybe scaling text and UI. Doesn’t sound like it though from how you were talking.
Desktop running the new super cards vs gaming laptop vs this style of platform.
Glad that options are getting better
Are you leaving the plastic film over the track pad in place on purpose?
Could you please recommend a mount for It? right now I have one in my bed with a Nintendo Switch and I really enjoy It, but I want to do the same when i buy a Lenovo Legion go.
What is the color gamut?
Can I use it as a daily driver as a UX designer? To do Figma work and work on excel?
I just got one a week ago, its my main system now. Its amazingly underrated. BTW, I'm gonna use a portable projector for the big screen experience. Also, when using the FPS mode, you can push in the joystick, so it doesn't stick out so much ;)
In what way is it underrated?
can you use the right joycon as a mouse, then connect a bluetooth keyboard, and you have a super portable pc??
So, question for you. Is there a stylus for it? I can see having a dock, keyboard, mouse, and monitor setup at home and using it as a drawing tablet… except, it’s really the whole computer built into the tablet. Certainly not a primary function of the device but since it has Windows on it, why not?
Tablet has. Need to be tested
No
Can you use this to run the tiktok Studio app to run an external camera for going live on tiktok?
Need a little bit bigger screen and keyboard?.... have you heard of the GPD Win Max 2?
Did es it open pdf files and what program s can I install on it
I love my LeGo especially for playing old games or even running some pvp in Dark Souls from the comfort of my couch or bed since i mainly play on PC. I'm all for handhelds and where they're going, hopefully in the near future with cpu's & gpu's getting better I'm hoping they can get more powerful or better yet more energy efficient so we can get more play time out of them.
laptops and desktops have their uses which I doubt will be replace anytime soon. This legion go is versatile that you can doc to Monitors to become a PC or a mini tablet, the main selling point is ofc a handheld gaming device that runs all your games on the go from any platform and also Emulates games from the Switch, overall $700-800 for all this is not bad at all. not saying it will happen, but this kind of device reminds of the idea one in all xD and could potentially be huge in the future to come.
Can you use microsoft office in that handheld?
Btw which razer keyboard is it?
But you can remove the analog stick when on fps mode lol you forgot to mention that
Recently i ve got this lenovo legion go and i m really impressed by this device, it was a go to because of my old eyes an 8"+ display is more comfortable. I like the detachable controler, pretty powerfull for such a small thing, with a mouse, small keyboard and even an external portable monitor you can carry all in a 17" laptop case with a ton of accessories.
With a 10" inch display this could kill a laptop, it could get better cooling and even more versatility, but for 8 or 10" display i think 1440p is a bit overkill, 1080p for this size is more than enough, more power and perf efficient for an integrated gpu, maybe FHD+, but 1440p not so usefull in such a tiny display.
Actually Was looking for a video around this. Now I was also thinking this is too early to invest in such a system since it's bran new and still has much power and edges to smooth out before a guarantee purchase. So one of my questions is Coming from Gaming Phones which currently have gen 3 chips. They are not close to this yet. So my real question is how far is the Extreme Chip on Ally and the Chip from Legion Go compared to the ever Popular gaming systems like PS5 and Xbox.
Close to a series s.
Can you Port the video to a monitor display?
Do you know if this machine can play 4k movies connected to 4k tv?? Like this full mkvs of 50 gigs?? Thanks
Yes
I love this device, I travel a lot so I do some light work with it and play games after. And watch Netflix before bed.
Hey, i just want to ask what "light work" did u do on the LeGo, and byfar how was the experience using LeGo? Can you replace LeGo with your laptop? I also do travel a lot and very intrested buying LeGo but still unsure if i only bring LeGo will enough or not
@naufalrajasa5497 hello I personally have bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so I can do lot of work with legion go i also dock it to hotel tv for with usb dock. As for replacing the laptop, I would still carry it as a backup. But overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.
@@marvkim3210yes but what work would you do on it? I think that’s more of their question. Why would you do work on this rather than on a laptop?
I just actually picked one up on 4/20 (lmao) but i have previously had a steam deck, and i wasn't fully happy, but when i saw this, i loved the size, its an amazing PC for me, and rn i have it hooked up to a single USBC dongle, and set for the internal display to turn off. i love this thing as PC, and the performance in the size
Do you still have the sticker on the trackpad?
Why use a keyboard and mouse and make the screen bugger ??? Just connect a Monitor and make the thing Small duh ?
Can this handle lift off fpv
I don't understand in what world one would push that res and refresh rate. The frame rate whiplash of running something simple and low poly over 60hz, then a big boy game that barely scratches 30fps would kill me. It mildly irks me to go from 120hz to 60hz alone from my PC to the Deck.
Seems like a massive cost increase for only a handful of titles one would be able to take advantage of with the given hardware and bandwidth of this chip. I get that you can alter the rafresh rate and resolution, but it's just strange to have to make concessions on every game while you're still being charged for that display that you still won't take advantage of....
Is it better then the onexplayer 2 pro im trying to see what one should I get
for the price of 1200 to 750 its clear tbh look and the difference i would rather get a desktop for 1200 then a handheld or a
4080,3090ti?
I don't want it to replace my laptop, but I love it more than any tablet on the market as a tablet. Definitely want to get it for that purpose.
Pop the joycon off in FPS mode (that's what the hole is in your case center ... to store that removed joycon
No shit. I wondered what that hole was for in the case! 👍
Is there a car charger for this
The Thunderbolt 3 to plug any eGPU on it make the legion GO a beast
Does the PS5 controller work well with it??
yeah absolutely i was playing spider man with it no input delay
i plugged it in and played on my tv and monitor in native resolution without any lack of quality/fps, its awesome! even splitscreen works great with rocket league/black ops 3 .) thanks for the great video !
These are the comments I love to read! Im so glad to hear it works well on external display
I bought mine and it’s coming next month the only reason why I bought legion go is when I come from work and I have been setting for about 9 hours.
I love the device, just wish they'd add a button mapping to the xbox home button. Makes it annoying when using as a Steam Deck on steroids. I really dig the Tunderbolt 4, can plug it into an EGPU and it's a beast, slightly glitchy over Thunderbolt but it's a big advantage on the others. I have a ROG Ally as well, which I also like, it's more user friendly as a handheld but as an all rounder, the Legion Go is ahead.
Bluetooth a controller to the LeGo and use that controllers Home button.
I totally agree with you on the display. I thought this would make a great multimedia tablet, but it's not big enough to use it for productivity tasks, and not small enough to be really portable.
I will return mine and went with a Asus Z flow and an Xbox controller.
ayaneo gpd win one player exists too you know ayaneo 2s has very little bezels and compact
have not touched the steam deck since i got the legion go.
definitely getting one this year, waiting for a sale. the Ally went on sale for like $399 during black friday, which was amazing! hoping the legion go will also get that type of discount
Definitely on my short list!
i agree about display size
These things are getting better and cheaper with time. And quite rapidly, too. I agree with your sentiment that these are going to trump laptops. I just wish Microsoft would read the room and do something similar to Valve: have a controller optimized OS on one side of things with the ability to switch to full Windows desktop mode. Windows isn't very friendly with handhelds. I can see a beefier version of Xbox OS as a front end for all of your games and if you feel like the full PC experience, switch to desktop mode.

OH, and not to mention their CONTINUTED updates. Driver or otherwise.
The Legion go is so powerful and Amazing!
I'm typing this on legion go. I can't get games to run good at all. Cloud gaming is the what runs good for me currently. If someone could help me that would be awesome
Maybe you need to lower resolution. This 1600p is too much for this performance especially on AAA games. i think 800p the sweet spot, but idk big resolution screen with low resolution gaming i think its not the best looking.
Yes I 100 prevent agree. I like the legion go its sweet but I'm not in love with it yet.@@reaim8796
@@reaim8796Yeah I’ve heard complains about the screeen with lower resolutions
You should get a z13.
I got mine for gaming while I camp this summer lol
I had an ally the sd card reader burnt out so its in repair now so brought this an its way better
The Legion Go is just too big imo. It almost negates the point of it being a handheld. Not only is it large but fairly heavy too.
I know you compared it to your laptop and it is somewhat smaller but is it small enough to justify a whole new purchase? Depends on the person but definitely a no for me.
What wattage did you use when you did the streaming test? Quiet, balanced, or performance? Thanks.
balanced at 50% brightness
will use iPad as external display for these devices , good size
I bought to use primarily as a tablet, not for gaming. It's the ONLY tablet under 9" or really 10" for that matter with high resolution and fairly premium specs. I agree a matching keyboard would be awesome. Because this has USB4, you can connect an egpu. So this really could be a desktop replacement (with egpu, larger monitor and possibly external drive), a laptop (with matching keyboard), a tablet AND a gaming handheld. A larger version would be a nice addition, as long as they still sell a smaller one like this! I think it's fantastic!!
Arm cpu vs X64 cpu, these are not the same, 2 are gaming pcs, the other is a gaming tablet
Don't forget left stick pulls off 4 fps mode...
If the Legion Go had a VRR display, especially a native landscape display, it'd be a no brainer for me. But it doesn't, unlike the Ally, which doesn't have USB4... Why oh why...
The analog sticks comes off. 😊
Whoever hasn't had one dont know what they are missing.
I disagree on a bigger screen as 8.8in is big enough and in some ways already too big. 10in is too big to be considered a handheld from my view and would just be a straight up tablet at that point.
tablets are handheld devices
@@nicklaforge Not really the same as a handheld gaming console, which is going to be thicker and heavier than your average tablet. It's just much too big and a 10in device is going to have very little appeal
if you want a 10" then look at the GPD Win Max 2
the device looks huge in your hands! we need huge pockets for it lol...
None of these handhelds outside of maybe the ROG Ally will fit in your pocket
thats not a handheld mode in my opinion hehe.. its tabletop mode man.
Hi what's the name of the game at 0:19
Over watch
Guy… what you want already exists… its called the Z13 Flow.
10 inch screen is way too big for a handheld. 🧐
Nah
its like a tiny laptop buy the 1 TB model.
2:30 the whole point is for it to be mobile.. Go play on a laptop.
10 inch oled 2k resolution would be perfect.
Audio is the Go's greatest failing.
Currently this is more expensive then the rog ally but in my opinion it looks better and provides more option! (The console can split controllers and mouse and keyboards can be connected and I can just airplay to my iMac so it's cheaper and I don't have to buy a whole PC)
You need a GPD Win Max 2
You can take the analogue off
remove the joysdtick and put into the OEM cover ;-)
aya neo?
Does it run gta5?
Yes. I ended pushing benchmark data to my next video :)
@nicklaforge can you play gta online role play good ??
6000 + mah battery. Just get powerbank 24.000 mah make sure its 100w + Walla your game time went up 2 hours to 8 hours if your still not at charging outlet than I dont know buy 2 powerbands' 😂😂
Can you play Playstation games
Which playstation games? It's a PC so any PC ports playstation made can obviously be played. It can also emulate the PS3, PS2, and PS1
shouldve put gpd on that intro
The leGo is way too big to travel in my opinion. That’s the one thing he didn’t cover in the video. The resolution is nice but not many games) you’ll be able run at 1600p unless you want 15fps. I find my self only using this thing at home and have to turn it down to 800p to get 60fps in most games. (Triple A mostly.) The other thing it’s missing is variable refresh rate. I personally use the Ally more on the go even with the smaller screen the games tend to look prettier and I don’t have a problem with resuming game after I put the Ally to sleep.
Did they update that with the resume then? I’ve heard it has to load the Home Screen first and sometimes your games just down load back up after that. How much testing have you done with this? Thank u
yes currently the king of handhelds at the moment
It’s a toss up between this and Asus ROG Ally and Steam Deck, based on preference. SD has better battery life, ROG is more portable and synching screen.
SD also has the smoother interface and quieter fans and runs cooler due to optimization. Really comes down to the need!
Who cares when you don’t have VRR like in the ROG
lol please take the plastic off the touchpad it’s killing my ocd
Stop sliding it around when its on the kickstand, your scratching the bottom lol
All it needs is to get cheaper
I think Xbox and Sony gonna pump out one with along the PS6 which plays PS4 and some PS5 titles on the go
Its not a joycon, joycon belongs to nintendo. Its a removable analog controller.
but….. joycon is more fun to say and I’m not affiliated with any of these companies
I sadly just returned mine. I wanted to love it but I just cant justify it. The Z1 is the equivalent to the GTX 1650/1050 Ti/1060 3GB or the Radeon RX 570. Yes that's insane for a handheld but its as heavy as my razer blade 14" laptop that houses a GTX 3070Ti. Don't get me started on the battery life..... I am however very excited at what it could do while I had it. I think its just too early to make this kind of investment when you just know the next one will be coming over the hill shortly. Its an incredible time to be a gamer.
I don't we will have anything soon over the hill. I think soonest we see a decent upgrade is 2 years out.
Maybe, but how exactly are they supposed to improve the ryzen 7840U or the Z1 extreme anytime soon? There arent a lot of options. I dont think anything better will come out for quite awhile, because we have virtually nothing to put into it thatll fit a device this size and still be an improvement to the specs. So far we just have dumb improvements, like the ridiculous 64g ram and 4tb ssd on the new onexplayer. Like yeah i guess technically its an improvement, but when will you ever need 64 gigs of ram on a handheld.
I DO think we will see price drops continue, but i just cant see anything thats noticably more powerful coming out anytime soon. I think tweaks and optimization will continue to improve performance for years to come though.
@alexcrowder1673 Agreed. I truly believe that handheld gaming is better on Android/ios.
@frankpatterson9682 no right or wrong answer. Just preference.
For me I don't like using my phone for any extreme resource application. The legion go filled a perfect niche for me. I work remote as IT consultant and I have 3 kids.
What it solves for me, primary I don't require a bulky laptop now to game or do basic pc tasks when off work. I like that it's windows, I can rdp to all my virtual machines that I use for work. I can dock and play a game and be around the family rather than my office.
Now I like to go camping and still work. I hated my laptop and now I believe I won't take my laptop at all. Just VPN back home, rdp to my work and light weight on the go device.
Lastly a bit experimental I been wanting a centrally accessed gaming pc. I thought I was going to use old laptops to access but this device is great I plan on using it. I virtualize a gaming pc with a 4070 graphics card. I run legion go in balanced mode and remote stream my dedicated gaming vm. I like this solution because it removes most of the bugs and hassle when using your primary pc to remote stream a game. Hard to control all the resources as you it daily for other things and primary pc might have multiple monitors that bug out remote streaming games.
So far it's been amazing exceeding my expectations. My wants were very niche but very thankful I randomly stumbled on legion go!
Only issue for me on this is the screen rez, going from native to the 1280x800 easily ads another 15-30 fps depending on the game. Certain optimized games like Halo Infinite i have running at a solid 60fps with some small drops during multiple explosions ect. Has been a blast for that. I haven't used this for streaming games from my PC yet. Overall i have loved this thing but don't think this type of thing is for me just yet.
What? You can literally change your native res to 1280x800....
@@ATLsF1N3ST91 But you have to do it for solid frames. It doesn't come out of the box for it. Alot of console players already hate they have to do minor setup things like this. The OOBE should be solid.
Also when the company says "Hits X framerate in this game****" Yo
u shouldn't have to read every asterisk on how to make it hit that. It should just hit it OOB.
@alexandergrace No.. Companies shouldn't dumb down their products for the lowest common denominators. If you aren't smart enough to drop resolution, you wasted your time buying a portable PC... It isn't a home console, meant for children like a Nintendo Switch. Buy THAT product for pick up and playability. It's only $200 for the Lite. Go that route.
tbh the res is cool cause its basically integer scaled so changed between those resolutions doesnt look ass
Lol I love how PC gamers say the keyboard is totally natural. I’m a console guy that just recently started playing PC games and there is nothing natural about a keyboard hahahaha!!! But now I’m in the PC gaming world. I can’t believe I waited so long! I have a PS5 and Series X and I love them, but the experience with PC gaming, graphics, and the smoothness, I have to admit is far above any console. It really is. Now I just have to get better with a keyboard and mouse. I’ve been doing a bunch of research on expanding my gaming on the go and the Legion Go is on the top of my list!
depends of the game, KB and Mouse for 1st person shooter, controller for racing. i play on PC, Mac (yes Mac), Playstations, Nintendo consoles etc. these handheld PC is all in one for me.
As someone who owns multiple AAA game copies of the same game across pc and consoles, I will add that despite pc's having a higher ceiling, it's very easy to fail at customizing your settings or hardware itself in a way that looks worse than the closed system a console provides. Many times I've found games looking and running better on my consoles compared to my better gaming pc. Takes effort, time, and knowledge to tinker with your pc to bring out its potential.
Console will always be better to me. Keyboards and mice are designed for typing, not playing games. But that means they work very well for my favorite type of game: mmo's 😁
Depends on the game. I play mostly with a controller. First person only games make sense with a mouse, unless it's all melee. Games with a lot of body movement in third person, like a lot of adventure games, Metal Gear games, and Soulslikes, it's controller all the way.
The mouse is indisputably faster and more accurate, but I laothe keyboards. They're for typing, not moving, and it's long travel for no analog gradient in movement. There, controllers win for movement.
Bro wants it to be a laptop so bad
You just mad
Why are u mad😊
No, actually, that's why he bought this... and not a laptop.
Me2 you have problem with that?
Full windows so....
Take the analogue stick off man
Yeah... Buy a pc..
meh... I'll keep my gaming laptop lol
sooon
It's a separate category than gaming laptops
Interesting you think this looks beautiful. I think this device looks awful and it looks like it’s straight out of like 2004. I feel like whoever made this absolutely doesn’t have an eye for design, compared to the Asus ROG Ally I absolutely love how that thing looks. Intentionally design and attention to detail with style. The Legion looks crusty and greasy with fingerprints and clunky controllers. It looks more to me like a concept rather than a finished product. I guess that goes to show you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
But those removable controllers are great. I’m currently a switch player and spending all day in bed yesterday playing Palia, sometimes I have to move on my side and therefore I detach the controllers so I can prop up the tablet against a pillow. Can’t do that with the Ally. I feel like that thing would just slide.
