    THE THREE LIONS !
After winning the 1966 World Cup, England could not achieve the successes it desired in world football. As always, they are assertive with young generation. But they have a very strong rival like Italy in their group. They are also in pursuit of surprises in Finland. An exciting competition awaits you. Have a good time :)

softlystroll. Watching this has brought back some childhood memories. Most England games weren't shown live on TV in those days and you had to listen to the BBC radio commentary by Peter Jones, Bryon Butler et al.
I particularly remember the stumbling performances against Finland and Luxembourg at home where the frustrated Wembley crowd were chanting "What a load of rubbish" in response to England's uninspiring efforts.
England only really gave two good performances in the qualifying campaign, beating Finland 4-1 away and Italy 2-0 at home. It was very disappointing as Liverpool won the European Cup in 1977 with a largely English team so it seemed the talent was there.

Despite some patchy performances they won all their games bar Rome. In the modern era of 6 or 7 team qualification groups they would likely finish top with that record.
