    AUSTRIA !
    The last time Austria was able to participate in the 1958 world cup held in Sweden. 18 years have passed, and this time Austria has turned its route to Argentina 1978. When you look at the teams in their groups, it is sure to be a challenging adventure. East Germany, Turkey, Malta. But Austria's only goal is to finish the group leader and go to Argentina. Have a good time :)

    From 1977-84 was a golden period for the Austrian national team. Great unity and team spirit. Hans Krankl was lethal in front of goal. I was a big supporter during the WCs. Big thanks for posting these games!!

      Actually it started already with the 1973/1974 generation, which is the same here with all these sensational international players! 1973 - 1982 - you know it! I love them still! And .... sadly ... I gues they would hace made the bigger impact in 1974 in Germans - as they played in the decider game in Gelsenkirchen in November 1973 such a brilliant super match ... Sweden just had 2 (two) attacks back then ... they made 2 goals ! ... Austria played the match or their lives ... and Sweden made a super role in the World Cup then in Germany 1974 .... Jara ... Krankl ... Prohaska ... Kreuz .. Hasil ... & Co .... ♥

    The game at the Zentralstadion in Leipzig was truly decisive, and both teams had the absence of their two top scorers: Krankl in Austria and Streich in East Germany.

    • @gunternetzer9621
      @gunternetzer9621 Před 2 lety +1

      This was an extremely tight group between East Germany and Austria who achieved almost exactly the same results in all their relative games but the East German manager Georg Buschner played too defensively in the two key games home and away to Austria. Both ended 1-1 and that was enough to give Austria the edge as the D.D.R. also dropped a point at home against Turkey. One more goal in that game would have put them level on points and goal difference with Austria with two more goals scored. For some reason Buschner overlooked Joachim Streich in some matches. If he had played against Austria things might have been very different.

    • @lokismig
      @lokismig Před 2 lety +1

      @@gunternetzer9621 From the first moment it was thought that the group was going to be a heads up between Austria and the DDR and that possibly the goals that both teams scored against Malta could decide the classification. But that home draw against Turkey forced the Germans to win the match in Leipzig because although both had to visit Turkey, it was clear that they were no longer going to fail. He was unaware that Streich did not play in several games. He thought he was injured or penalized for that decisive duel.

    Lembro muito dessa geração de jogadores austríacos, que durou até a copa da Espanha. Nunca mais a Áustria teve uma geração como essa. Koncilia, Prohaska, Hans Krankl, Jara e outros.

    • @lokismig
      @lokismig Před 4 měsíci

      Totalmente de acordo contigo! Esses quatro jogadores citados e Obermayer, Pezzey, Hattenberger e Schachner jogaram na Argentina 78 e na Espanha 82, formando um grande bloco e fazendo com que a Áustria caísse entre os 8 melhores do mundo nas duas Copas do Mundo. A geração seguinte, com Toni Polster dos anos 90, não conseguiu nada semelhante.

    • @gunternetzer9621
      @gunternetzer9621 Před 2 lety +1

      @@michelangelodeodato7087 I don't understand that one. Austria's shirts look like Turkey's first choice shirts. Austria and Turkey both wear white, so Austria must had turned up with their red change kit. Why didn't Turkey just wear white and Austria red? Maybe Turkey's white kit was in the cleaners so they had to wear their red change kit hence Austria borrowing the white. Some bad planning!

    • @michelangelodeodato7087
      @michelangelodeodato7087 Před 2 lety +1

      @@gunternetzer9621 in the German article was written that Austria arrived with the right kit (red) as guests. But they did not take the first kit (white) as they knew they did not need it. This means that Turkey should have played with the white one, as hosts. They must have made a mistake or it was a decision to play in red to be more aggressive maybe in this decisive game.
