- This is a Land Rover Discovery One Camel Trophy Truck for sale by the owner after a full detail. This Trophy Truck participated in the 4x4 Olympics in Mongolia and has bespoke factory off-road equipment specifically for this race. The Trophy Truck was imported to the US where it sat for over 12 years before being purchased by the current owner who planned to restore it. The owner unable to continue the project brought the Camel Truck to the AMMO Studio for a full detail so it can find a new home with an off-road enthusiast. We make a ton of interesting (and gross) discoveries detailing this off-road legend with some huge before & afters. Enjoy! - LK

I love how you can just pop over to Steve when you run into a mechanical problem, a true saviour 💡
He comes in clutch
This cured my erectile dysfunction
He should do that earlier in the process before potentially damaging things... He's a great detailer but not a mechanic.
The dad we all need
Really cool video, just feeling bad for the kid who lost his father and never got the chance to actually enjoy the car with him.
Thank you Larry for giving us car enthusiasts pieces of car’s culture, i personally didn’t even know about these Land Rovers.
As always thank you for showing us how you bring these cars back to life.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!! 💪🏻
Pasquale, you better make time to watch some Camel Trophy footage, there is plenty... It was an awesome event of team building, teamwork, mud, dust and guts....
Larry, very well done, nice video, good products, and I'm totally in love with that Disco
😍😍😍
🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
It's Christmas Eve, I'm mildly drunk, and watching someone clean a Land Rover. Watching the process is such a blessing. I wonder if you know how much Zen you deliver with these videos? Thank you Larry and I hope you have a lovely holiday break.
It's thee days later drunk watching from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 37 degrees celcus. Merry Christmas to you all
haha xmas eve again
Ex Camel Trophy vehicles are so awesome. Love this one
I'm from Europe and since i was young i use to watch Paris -Dakar raids, big fan of 4x4 vehicles and checking out everything about the amazing Camel trophy.. if this Disco should be restored i would definitely replaced all rusty frame bull-bars, roof-rack if rusty replaced, back ladder, and side skirts replaced if are rusty, new winch, the windshield goose-neck for the air-filter looks rusty and the floor if it need it replace with new metal and then fully insulate, new parts like shocks, crank-shaft, bushings, joints, knuckles, steering rack, new brake lines + booster, new rotors+brakes, but keep the car with the body shell as it is no livery peeling just to remind anyone how tough the Mongolia raid trophy was.. Shout out from Europe !
as a Mongolian, this is really cool to see! the mongolian flag decal and the plate on the hood is sick 🇲🇳
I have zero intention of ever detailing a car to the level that you do, but you have definitely inspired me to do an incrementally better job each time I do care for my vehicles!
Seeing the impact even these small improvements make is very inspiring and motivational! Thank you so much and happy holidays!
I still remember when I first saw the Camel Trophy in the 1990’s as a little boy, seeing the Disco’s in deep mud going everywhere - I fell in love with the whole thing straight away, still feel like that! Excellent job as always Larry, you’ve saved a piece of history! 👌🏻🤩👍🏻
🌏WOW and thank you for the inspiration! I was one of the final two members of *Team USA Camel Trophy 1997 Mongolia* ... very grateful for a priceless experience that changed my life with so many opportunities during and after. Love the cleanup Larry and sorry for their father's loss. Larry I *might* have a few Camel Trophy stickers from 1997 in case the new owner is interested, feel free to DM me and I can see if I have them around in storage (not sure condition but glad to look). THANK YOU again for posting it!
This is incredibly cool! Thanks so much for reaching out. Yes please send me an email at support@ammonyc.com. Cheers!
Hey I think I’ve met you somewhere…
@@blakevannest5893 Hey! LOL
I can remember your name Kris... Wow man, can't you buy this car for it's legacy?
I wish I could, dammit..
🇿🇦🇿🇦
@@alwynvanwyk1851 I think it's already sold! Not sure if I ever personally rode in that one, but could have... I'd love to find out where my own Team USA car ended up, that'd be an amazing find.
I live about 30 miles from the factory where all the Camel Trophy trucks were built .
Where I live in the uk Pershore . There is a guy who owns and regularly uses his Camel trophy Discovery .
I love these vehicles due to the fact in the grand scheme , not that many were built for this gruelling event .
Great video thanks for sharing .
Merry Christmas from the uk .
Awesome job, Larry, as always. But I really love it when you add the story behind every vehicle, it just makes your work and us viewers to watch this, ten times better!!!
Wow such a great car. I love how the Camel Trophy captured the imagination.
Glad you called it by it's correct name "Disco" love it!!
It's always a pleasure watching a master like yourself tackle these tough car detailing jobs. Love your work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A great result and a touching story. Well done.
What a piece of car history. I love seeing something like this brought back to life. As always Larry, stellar work
My dad LOVES THIS THING
He remembers it driving by his house
Awesome to see one of these in original condition and given a new lease on life. I was part of Camel Trophy in Mongolia as a journalist, so the first-gen Discovery from this event is very special
Hey Colin! I was on team USA in Mongolia along with my partner Doug. Great memories!
@@krisvannest Definitely! An awesome experience for sure. I was supposed to go back to Mongolia for the Land Rover G4 Challenge in 2009, but it was cancelled in December 2008 just before we were due to go to International Selections in the UK - a victim of the financial crisis. Although the G4 was a very different kind of event compared to the hard-core mud, sweat and blood of the Camel Trophy.
i learned how to drive in one of those (not a camel throphy tho) a 1998 land rover discovery 300tdi manual. I loved that truck. It was a nightmare reliability wise, in 7 years of ownership y spent about the same money it costed me on repairs. Bue when it worked it was awesome, it climbed like a goat, was extremely confortable and would take any of road abuse like it was nothing. Glad to see one back to life
Used to have a disco 2 not the same but similar, this video took me back, thanks for that
Being from a boating family I grew up knowing the Rigid Inflatable Boats of the same era. Awesome time.
Fantastic result and it’s not a truck it’s a land rover 👍👍
Lol our Land Rover representatives on that event would always say the same thing! Ditto for afterwards when we were hired as driving instructors, it’s a land rover, not a truck. :)
OMG I am so excited seeing this. When I was a kid when I heard land rover that is what I thought about because of seeing them in off road magazines. I think I remember them more than any 4wheel driver besides big foot and grave digger. I miss some of them magazines
As always, thanks for a great video Larry and you are an inspiration!
The 50/50 on this yellow paint is incredible
Love the Discovery, a legendary 4x4 , now my favourite video you have Dun 😎
I love this channel because you actually take your time and find these kind of cars in need of a detail. I'm tired of these pseudo-detailers who show up with a car they threw mud at, give it a power wash and call it a "restoration".
Great episode, thanks, Larry
That looks absolutely superb 🇬🇧
its super cool seeing one with a manual! i didn't know they even HAD a manual! and the Mongolian rocks make it even cooler!
What a diamond in the rough!!
Fantastic work as always, Larry. What an awesome piece of motorsport memorabilia.
As a Mongolian. It’s heartwarming 🥹🥰
Larry definitely has the best detail channel on CZcams! This could have been 2 hours and i would have watched it all.
What an amazing story and a terrific car.
This is the most I loved about cars Camel Trophy was the pinnacle, still have the Camel Trophy watch my parents gave me for Christmas around the same time as this car 🤩
Awesome! I think I still have my watch somewhere as well, I have no idea if it works or not but I might dig it up sometime
Man , the owner was lucky to have you to deliver the story of his
The ending hit me in the feels. My dad passed away suddenly in late may this year. To the owner : sorry for your loss 🙏 and good luck with the sale!
What an amazing video! It’s always fun to learn the history about these cars! Amazing from before to after the car was detailed! Keep up the good work Larry!
Love it! Very enjoyable restoration of a lovely Camel Trophy survivor!
Cool! That vehicle was at our shop when it was brought to the US in 2010 or so.
My father owned 2 of these cars when I was a kid and from factory they were incredible off-roaders. Took me to some incredible places here in North Queensland, Australia.
Dude I watch a lot of detail content but yours is the best. Love the interesting finds, especially older Land Rovers. Merry Christmas Larry.
Great to see you give this disco back its shine! 🚙
Watching your videos every week definitely inspires me to keep moving on with my detailing business! Thanks for your hard work!
Awesome! Thank you!
The Camel Trophy never came to Panama, but one of the Discovery did. It is an amazing build.
Hi Larry. For some of those door card scuffs, have you ever tried a “magic eraser” to take care of them? I’ve had great luck using those gently. I use a diluted mix of warm water and dish soap to act as an lubricant so that the eraser isn’t too abrasive. But it generally works like a charm. Thanks for your content!
It's gems like THIS that I wish to detail one day. That'd be a cherry on top. You're the man, Larry.
Best car videos on CZcams. Period. Always perfection with the editing, great content, straight to the point but always detailed, and dope cars. Great stuff, man. Love the channel.
What an awesome find... Love this one so much
Back in the 90s when I was in my mid 20s and was a 4x4 nut I totally wanted to participate in the Camel Trophy someday. I always wondered why this did not continue and where did the vehicles end up. A piece of automotive history!!!
INSANE VIDEO, LARRY!! Great work...!Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas guys
I do love your videos, thank you for making these and as always, congratulations on all your successes
This is now one of my favorite videos you have done, love all the history and unique build
Awesome transformation on the paint Larry. Merry Christmas to yourself, your wife & family, and Steve of course!
Woo Hoo. My favorite show. Don't ever go on national television.
I remember watching a TV series like 15 years ago where they filmed a camel trophy british land rover team... I remember how one of the guys on the team used a cigarette to get rid of the blood snails on his body.. If anybody can remember this show I would love to watch it again, I've never been able to find it again.
Another awesome project. Every week you are delivering quality content. It is really something.
Glad you enjoy it!
@@AMMO-NYC can u make a video with the super bike we saw in the background when u were cleaning the engine ?
Very cool drive 😊
Really enjoyed this video thanks Larry
very satisfying video with that power wash
SO SATISFYING to see a job done so expertly. Also top notch filming, narration and editing. Bravo Sir!!! Thank you.
D1 with a manual trans is absolutely a dream car for me.
I'll never get tired of these videos! I've watched every single one. Such a great job as always Larry! Hoping you'll do a DeLorean one day🤞
Another interesting piece of automotive history. I like it!
Can’t imagine this will hang around long, if not gone already. Stunning job again man 🙏
Merry Christmas to you
Man, I absolutely love the DI and DII. They are in the hall of fame for vehicles - so much character. It’s ashame the engines in the 4.6 were so bad. There would be so many more of these that survived.
Wish I could hear from the owner who brought it in back in 1997! To have the 300 tdi engine back in period here in the states must have been really cool!
I've wanted one of those since I first saw one back when I was detailer at a Land Rover dealership.
Love your channel...Merry Christmas
Beautiful clean up!!!
Joe, your Dad would be so proud.
growing up in the 90s, I acasionally watched the Camel Trophy at my grandpa's. It was the very first thing I remember that got me into cars
Great job bringing it back! It’s nice to see another disco saved
i had no idea about this "trophy race" so it's cool to discover new things even watching a detail. i had a car with the same paint and i didn't liked too much but in this one looks awesome! of course after all that dirt was off, the car was stunning.
You're the REAL MVP, STEVE!!!
You are nr#1 in content ! GoodJob (big fan from Romania)
This was awesome 😊 Thanks
Awesome detailing. The decals are awesome, even if a bit faded. I'd love to redo new ones and replace. That'd make a huge difference! I hope the next owner does it. Cheers!
Another amazing job!
Very cool!
Best video of the year🎉
Damn Larry!!! You skill is amazing, your love for cars and detailing them is amazing. Beautiful finish dare I say work of art that you perform
True master of his craft
Superb Job!👍👏😍
Nice
Wow! Astonishing job for a remarkable LR!!!
Steve should have a cape at this point haha the man is a legend! Great video and story behind the Rover.
Even in the US its still called the Disco 💙 fantastic 4x4's especially the Rover v8 powered ones
Happy Holidays to you the AMMO NYC crew the your loved ones. ^__^
I love your videos. I live in San Antonio but if I could take my car to your shop, I would. My GLI would be in perfect hands. Great work.
Outstanding job! This would be a treasure.
Awesome job
Great job and it really is impressive that the series 1 Discovery looks so modern.
I love ammo's videos
Steve is the man.
ماشاءالله
Very good job 👍🏼
Love the way ammo’s detailing a landrover disco while here in the uk we smash them up 😂😂
Awesome!
