    I built a 400% Old fogey a while ago, i added a plywood firewall, and carbon fibre bracing for the wings.
    On the first flight the elevator control rod fell off, but it flew so smoothly i didnt notice until 15 minutes later when i landed it. Its now sitting in my shed.

  • @Gantorin
    @Gantorin Před 10 lety +3

    I would like to see a large FT-3D... I think the viggen would be a MASSIVE undertaking, but seeing if the FT-3D can still perform as the smaller version would be interesting to see. I also would like to see the Mustang, but I think that would as impressive as David's Spitfire.

    • @tm8810
      @tm8810 Před 10 lety

      I LOVE the Mustang (it's fun in the simulators too) and the F4U Corsair. I wonder how the P-38 Lightning would handle as an R/C with the twin engines...

    • @Gantorin
      @Gantorin Před 10 lety

      Probably like their ft cruiser... I think they are going to make a plan for it. After they released plans for the Mustang that there will be 2 more warbirds.

    Just wondered what the weight of each Monster turned out to be. I assume you're using 3mm foamboard? A big Viggen might be fun :)
    I have an 84" trainer sold as a kit by a small UK firm call Paper Aviation which I think is made from mostly foam board but with a more conventional build. eg foam ribs for a built-up wing. I fly it on 2 4S 3600mAH in pll and a 5055 700 kv motor with a 14x7 prop. I picked it up part built and finished it, Flies well and moderately aerobatic

Might be a bit harder to build but coolness factor off the charts!! Lots of private pilots around that would like to have them. If you do one, contact the EAA (eaa.org) and see if they will put a mention and pics in their Sport Aviation magazine and website. Their magazine goes out monthly to ~160,000 members. I think you should do a 200% FT 3D That would be awesome. I don't know how big the wingspan is now, but if 200% got to an 80 or 90 inch wingspan, how awesome would it be to bring it out to the club and fly that massive foamie next to the other guys who have 8 grand in their fiberglass 100 cc gas planes. After foam and electronics it would only cost probably less than 200 depending on servos and motor. Then if and or when you crash you don't have to be nearly as sad as the guy who crashes his 8 grand plane. BTW that just happened at the club last saturday, really good guy, actually sponsored and did shows, was flying his maiden on his new 3d plane, flying around and it looked awesome, but all the sudden he went to go vertical and his plane stalled, during the emergency landing he hit hard and flipped it, and broke the rudder. Bad luck for him, but with foam you could just repair it pretty quickly. I want to make the 200% spitfire and the 200% FT 3D. It would be even more awesome to be able to actually make it a swapable so I only have to buy one motor and esc to do both!
