      *Since season 5
      They butchered the Dorne arc, messed up sansa's plot, eradicated Tyrion's character development by erasing his motivation of killing all those who wronged him his whole life. Let's not forget young griff being brushed off and not being included in the story. Varys dissappeared and stopped being useful and tyrion followed him into that pit of idiocy and they both became empty puppets, only being shadows of the great characters they once were. And that's to name a few but one last crime they commited was the murder of common sense and logic in the series like arya surviving multiple stabs and sansa defending littlefinger because "sHe dOeSn'T tRuSt tHe lOrDs oF tHe vAlE" who grew up with her father and who respect the starks.

    • @MrDarkkamui
      @MrDarkkamui Před 2 lety +62

      Roose feared Ned's father, Lord Rickard Stark. Lord Rickard forbade the Boltons to flay their enemies and/or the smallfolk in the North, he also forbade his Lords from exercising "The right of the first night". Roose Bolton practiced the "right if the first night" this is very clear in the books and it is more than likely that he flayed people from time to time. However he always made sure that the people living on his lands would be so scared of him that they would never run to the Warden of the North and rat him out. He did the same when Ned become the Warden of the North and Lord of Winterfell after his father and older brother were killed. And Ned never trusted Roose it is even stated in the books. Robb however was an idiot who forgot that the Boltons fought wars against Starks for thousands of years and that they even flayed several Stark princes in the past, yet he trusted Roose Bolton enough to appoint him as one of his main war generals and he even gave him command of the majority of the Northern forces when he ( Robb ) came up with the plan to send most of his forces to distract Tywin Lannister and his host while Robb and the remaining Northern forces and the Freys defeated Jaime ( because Robb came up with a plan to trick Jaime into following a small host led by Blackfish who were harassing the Lannister forces in order to piss off Jaime so Jaime followed them with only a fraction of his host ). Point being, Roose used this as an opportunity to send Stark men and Stark loyalist to the front lines to be destroyed by Tywin and his host and by doing this he effectively weakened House Stark and it's military power.

    I love the dark parallels between the Starks and the Boltons. They have so much duality and contrast between them that’s great to see. Ned Stark loved Jon Snow unconditionally and was treated no different than any of his other children. Roose however made Ramsay have to EARN being his son and always reminded him that he was a bastard and it wasn’t his house. Jon in a naive state of mind always inquired who is mother was from early on while Ramsay never cared to ask as the answer was very self explanatory as he had a pretty through understanding of who his father was and how the world worked from a young age. He knew damn well the question of who is mother was wasn’t an important or significant inquiry in the slightest. People follow Jon Snow out of love and the reward of freedom. People follow Ramsay out of fear and reward of breathing a little longer. The Battle of the Bastards. The two ideologies, two polar opposites, so different but so similar collide.

      Perhaps the Stark Kings of Winter were the aggressors. The tactics of the Bolton Red Kings of the Dreadfort had to compensate for inferior numbers originally. House Tyrell is only rivals with about every other great house in the reach. They're all pissed that Aegon I made the Tyrells wardens of the south and not one of them. The Tyrells were the stewards of the Gardener Kings, not as ancient and noble as the rest of them.

      Kevin Warburton Because they control Highgarden with all its incomes, and I'm pretty sure they tax their vassals. But before Aegon I came, they were stewards to the Gardeners (like the Cassels to the Starks) and the other reach houses already were where they are today.

    • @mr.googoopants3581
      @mr.googoopants3581 Před 5 lety +61

      Kevin Warburton I doubt that the Tyrells, even as Lords of Highgarden are the richest in the Reach. That distinction should be given to House Hightower who were described in the books as "As rich as the Lannisters". It should be noted that even the Tyrells cannot control the Hightowers should they decide to move or exert their power. This can be said during the Dance of the Dragons when even the House Tyrell can't put a leash on the Hightowers who they described as their "Overmighty vassals". If Reach was France during midieval times and the Tyrells were the Valois kings of France, then the Hightowers are the Dukes of Burgundy, vassals they might be but they are far richer and more powerful than the King of France himself.

    The Tyrells of the Reach and the Florents of Brightwater keep have a feud with each other too. The Florents says that the Reach shoud have been given to them when Aegon the Conqueror got the Seven Kingdoms, because they have a stronger claim by having a better ancestry to the then ruling house of the Reach, house Gardener, compared to the Tyrells. In the war of the five kings, the Florents fought for Stannis instead of Renly, claimant to the Iron Throne that their liege lords, the Tyrells, sided with. The Florents even lost their castle of Brightwater keep by doing so, being given to Mace Tyrell's second son Garlan Tyrell.

    Fun Facts:
    House Blackwood were also made King of the Riverlands. This happened just after Lord Roderick Blackwood rebelled alongside houses Vance of Atranta and Tully of Riverrun against King Humfrey I of House Teague when he banned the worship of the old gods i the Riverlands. Lord Roderick was also supported by his son-in-law King Arlan III of House Durrandon, King of the Stormlands. The rebels won and Lord Roderick was also made king but unfortunately, he died in battle before he can be crowned. Lord Roderick's heir aas only a boy of 8 at that time and so King Arlan III suggested that Lord Roderick's elder daughter Lady Shiera Blackwood who was married to an older son of King Arlan III serve as regent of the Riverlands with his son on her side until the boy comes of age but the Riverlords were against being ruled by a woman, and so, King Arlan III just incorporated the Riverlands to his domain instead.
    House Manderly would have been kings of the Reach. This happened when Garth X of House Gardener, King of the Reach died. King Garth X sired no sons, only daughters with one daughter married to Lord Manderly and the other to Lord Peake. Upon the king's death, both lords were determined to make their wives succeed as queen. What follows were are series of wars, treachery and bloodshed. This only resolved when the knight Ser Osmund Tyrell placed King Garth X's second cousin to the throne instead and became King Mern VI, and he then installed Ser Osmund Tyrell as High Steward of Highgarden. This is also probably one of the reasons why years later King Perceon III of House Gardener along with Lord Peake had House Manderly exiled from the Reach, because aside from their growing power and wealth, a strong claim to the throne is what sealed their fate in the Reach.

      The Northerners, Valemen, Ironborn, Westerners, Stormlanders, Reachmen, and Dornishmen saw Aegon and House Targaryen as a foreign invader, a conqueror. The Riverlords saw The Targaryens as liberators. They've been conquered by The Andals, The Stormkings, and The Ironborn. The Ironborn enslaved The Riverlords and they got as far as The Blackwater Rush. Aegon flew in and The Riverlords rallied to his banner before what happened at Harrenhal. The leader of The Riverlords were The Tullys and they became Lord Paramount of The Trident for their loyalty and built Riverrun.

    Hey bro, you should make a video on Jon Snow’s Kings Guards. When Jon was a baby, ser Arthur Dayne, Gerold and oswell fought Ned and his men to Protect Jon, they were obviously ordered by Raegar but they all knew that the (King)s Aerys and Raeghar died. So because they knew that, it must mean that they were serving as Kings guard for baby Jon Snow, the heir to the throne.
    I find it really cool how Jon Snow sort of had his own Kings guards when he was just a baby. Maybe he might appoint his own Kings guards one day if he outlives the war against the White walkers. I know that he has already bent the knee to Daenerys but who knows, if they manage to survive the Nights kings army and become rulers of Westeros together then I wonder whom they will pick as their kings/queensguard.
    What do think? If hypothetically Jon and Danny were to appoint kings guard whom would they choose?
    I suspect brienne of tarth and possibly a brother of the nights watch and maybe greyworm, or even Daario Naharis maybe..?
