I get them wanting a fun cringe video for content to react to, but it’s pretty crazy to compare trash reality competitions to irl dating lol. Every time I see someone reacting to The Button or anything on similar CZcams channels, everyone is up in arms like ‘omg kids these days are ruined, they can’t date, in my day blah blah blah’ lol. Like seriously y’all, it’s a fake dating competition. We’ve had those on TV for decades and they’re always trash, and has nothing to do with one generation being so much worse than another.

This is burned into my memory because my coach was an AH, but in middle school, our PE coach always tried to make us as quiet as possible at all times. She made us warm up in complete silence. We were doing sit-ups when I accidentally farted. Since it was dead quite in the gym, it was especially loud. You could hear it echo. Everyone laughed for a good minute, and the whole time, our coach was super pissed blowing her whistle and screaming at everyone to shut up. After everyone quieted down she started asking "Who did that?! Did you do that on purpose?!" Blah blah blah I mean absolutely furious. Like, sorry, I accidentally let a tiny fart rip, trust me it was dead quiet and we're on the ground with people a foot away from me on each side, I wasn't trying to fart either, but thanks for turning it into a bigger deal than it needed to be.

Mentioning if you're ADHD or autistic isn't quite the same as vegan and crossfire. Those are things that they chose to be a part of. Autism and ADHD people tell people that they are because we often have to explain ourselves to other on why we do things the way we do. The reason it's coming up more recently is because people have spread more awareness of them so people who didn't realize they were adhd but constantly struggled with daily tasks finally have their diagnosis they needed. Its sorta the same thing as if someone has a physical disability like cerebral palsy or other similar disabilities, if you asked them to do a task they can't, they may tell you they have the handicap. Same with autism and adhd, we are explaining ourselves

As someone who is autistic, and was diagnosed late in life I totally get this…. The reason why we tell everyone is because we are deathly afraid of being creepy/ coming across as awkward. It is a way of trying to not offend others and protecting yourself. I have trouble hugging my mom. I totally get this guy.

My husband has severe OCD and told me before we even had our first date so that I would know what I'd be getting into and to explain why certain things he did on the date (excessive handwashing) would be weird to me so I get that with Autistic people because it's a more **noticeable** thing and probably want people to know there's a reason they are acting a certain way.

Agreed. I've got a similar story in that my hubby has always been pretty upfront about the fact that he's got an extremely hard time bonding with and feeling for people. When I first expressed interest, he asked me if I'm sure and reiterated his issues and what that means for our relationship. I feel like in those kinds of situations, it is important to be upfront about it and I'm glad that he was (though I already knew and decided that I was okay with that).
Funnily enough, we first started bonding when it came out that we both went through a suicidal patch in the past. We barely knew each other back then, but it was the start of a beautiful, open and honest friendship (which eventually grew into something more).

Thank you Ken for mentioning self diagnosing and how repeated it is. I was diagnosed at age 5 and the last 3 years due to tiktok has been extremely negative and impactful in receiving any understanding from friends or the general public/medical staff when I mention I am autistic and I need some extra support/patience and time to process and comprehend certain topics. You usually get the eyeroll, like "you don't seem like you have autism" which in itself is an incredibly awful insult. Autism is not a common thing and it is not something you can self diagnose. 1% of the world's population is diagnosed. That is not a lot at all. Symptoms of various mental health conditions do cross over quite a lot. What one symptom for a certain condition is, can be the exact same as another condition. It's so deflating.
I agree. This is often why I'm frightened to even tell anyone I'm autistic even though it would be so much more kinder for them to know I'm just socially braindead and it's not actually because I don't like them. But I'm too scared they'll think I'm just a self-diagnosing poser even though I have the shitty papers and the shitty clusters of symptoms to prove it. I was only diagnosed at 19 due to being female and in the UK and I could actually get help. I think self-diagnosers feel like it's great because they get to say they have this illness and get all the excuses and attention from it, but they never actually have to deal with any of the negative symptoms because they don't even have it. I'm okay with my life but I'd trade the negative symptoms of autism to a poser anyday
I get that the numbers of self diagnoses have spiked but that doesn't mean no one should self diagnose. Doctors widely accept self diagnosis, and if someone has truly looked into and researched it and feels like they are autistic, and see a doctor about it, there's a good chance they ARE autistic. There are also instances where they might have ADHD or something else, but if they talk to a doctor it would get straightened out. I'm self diagnosed because I have tons of aligning behaviors and social struggles, the same ones that got my brother diagnosed. One more thing, an official diagnosis could hinder some people. It could close previously open doors or limit some things for them. It is over self diagnosed but that doesn't mean no one should do it.
I’ve been told by three separate psychologists that they suspect I’m on the spectrum, but my regular therapist said at my age it’s not even worth it to get a diagnosis because there are so few supports for adults. I don’t go around telling anyone I have autism for that matter, but that doesn’t stop me from using the same coping skills recommended to diagnosed people, and the idea that it’s my brain wired differently is a comfort over feeling like I’m behind or like there’s something wrong with me. but I know how frustrating it is how a lot of people seem to wear it like a badge of honour when that diagnosis has been a source of pain for so many people.
Part of the reason why so few are diagnosed "officially" with autism is also because 1. it is a spectrum, so it is very individual how it shows, and diagnosing it takes a lot of time and effort and sometimes resources that arent there. 2. the first official autism diagnosis didnt happen until 1943. It is a very new diagnosis, and it is only starting to come to light how many people (especially women) have been misdiagnosed with various mental illnesses, when they were in fact autistic. 3. waiting lists for getting a diagnosis can be excruciatingly long, and sometimes the consultations are extremely expensive. Self diagnosing is of course not something to be taken lightly, but it can also be a helpful tool for actually autistic people to find a community and resources.

I’m a firm believer that if you are going through a lot of personal problems/hate you should focus on healing and loving yourself before entering a relationship with anyone because then you focus on pleasing them/showing them affection rather than showing acceptance and affection towards yourself.
Some people need others to find themselves and their self worth though, it really depends. But yeah I agree for the most part.

I will say when I got with my boyfriend I was completely upfront about all my things... that way he could know before we started our relationship. It's the healthiest choice I've ever made and this is by far my healthiest relationship.

People need to realise that getting into relationships isn't a replacement for therapy, like bruh your significant other isn't your personal psychologist, and treating them as such usually leads to worsening emotions and actual toxic behaviour.
Also imagine relying on smoking weed to help with your cognitive dysfunctions, seek actual professional help fam.
I love both Ken and Pewds. Been watching both for years. In the interest of education though, ADHD, like genuine diagnosed ADHD is far more serious than most people realise. The whole trend of self-diagnosis is making it be downplayed when in reality it seriously affects people's ability to deal with day to day life. That comment of "it's just ADHD" comes from a position of unknowing, I know there's no malice behind the comment I just wanted to highlight it though as many studies are putting ADHD as just as severe or more so than Autism (obviously not in all cases.) For anyone else who maybe didn't understand I hope this made sense and offered some extra insight to what is a very very long rabbit hole to delve into. :) Other than that, loved the video! Ken and Felix chemistry is just perfect as always haha
As someone who was diagnosed ADHD and then a year later with the 'tism. There is a distinction between the two and they both can be debilitating alone or together.
But it is called a spectrum for a reason. Some experience it far greater than others and ones ability to mask or even unmask can make all the difference in how they are perceived compared to how they are.
@@PoPcheesemo Yeah I completely agree! I think the years of people thinking ADHD is just "bouncing off the walls hyper" and the 'tism is just "Socially Awkward" have done a fair bit of damage in people's understanding of both issues.
I have ADHD and honestly believe I have the 'tism too, though haven't been tested yet. You find that when there's one of them, often there is another. That can be Depression, Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Low-Self Esteem, OCD, Perfectionism but commonly as it's now being termed AuDHD which is, like you, have both Autism and ADHD.
I think the point that a lot of people miss is the point you mentioned about the spectrum. Everyone thinks the spectrum of Autism is just "What type are you?" i.e. Asperger's, when in reality that gives only half the story as it doesn't explain the different levels of severity, the relationship between that condition and other conditions that are suffered and in general the person's ability to deal with them which is obviously made up from a plethora of factors.
As I mentioned it's such a deep subject and there's so much to learn, I believe I've only scratched the surface in the few years I've been learning about it all but I've got a far greater understanding of myself and my brother who is AuDHD as well as others who suffer. Though I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it definitely feels far less lonely to realise there's many people that struggle with similar things.
Overall though, I think it's important for people like yourself and I to talk about our experiences to educate those who don't understand if they want to learn. I'm personally always happy to sit and talk with someone about anything that might help them understand themselves or the people around them.

yeah adhd is pretty severe for me. i am so hyperactive, mindlessly running and stimming, always fixating on things, always losing track of time. i starve myself because eating a meal is hard, every month i have a problem with my kidney because i dont drink water, i cant sleep, grocery shopping is hard, sunlight and car noises and carpet textures are ruining my life. i am disabled, simple as that. and everytime i tell about a good strategy that works for me people will downplay my situation, they'll say it's in my head, just get rid of distractions. they dont know i got rid of my tv and i dont use twitter or instagram. i live a minimalist life to have some control of my life. they're ignorant, and self-righteous too. it's a nightmare really.
Agreed!! I think Ken and Felix are struggling most with the brutal honesty of the new generation. Mental health is now so important in some peer groups that it's a first date convo topic, like your job, your family, where you grew up, what you do in your spare time etc. It can be very confronting for people who grew up in times where these topics were much more suppressed. If the youth are comfortable having these kinds of convos and they believe it gives them a stronger foundation and understanding of a possible partner, then all power to them. There's something to be said for getting it all out there early on!
Yes yes and important to add that self-diagnosis is super important because it most countries the waiting list to get a diagnosis is counted in years so if you want to help yourself that’s the only way you have.
As someone who has both adhd and autism, we have to throw it out there because we are judged so fast and it’s so hard to make friends. It’s mentally exhausting to never fit in

Like, people can tell you are autistic most of the time, just like how a disabled person in a wheelchair also is obvious. They don't make it a topic when ever they meet new people though.

I just wanted to say (as a person who was diagnosed with adhd) I will always tell someone new that I’m meeting for the first time. It’s more of a comfort thing since kids with adhd usually get told they are annoying or too much. So I’ll always tell someone this is my situation, if I get too much or talk too fast please let me know as I’m not aware. So a lot of the time (for someone who is diagnosed) it’s a way of feeling was anxiety about coming across as too much.

I totally understand where ken is coming from with the autistic bit. Im now diagnosed, but i always felt i was different. Not like im something special or great, but like when i was born theres a 2° difference, and now that ive lived 23 years my trajectory is way off.
If you have 2 people stand at the same point walk in a straight line, but have 1 of them walk at 0° and 1 of them at 1° after 3 hours there will be about 3km between them. (Might help with my analogy)
Agree. It feels like everyone else is a cat, and you're a dog wearing cat ears and trying to retract your claws. For a long time, you don't realise, but everyone else definitely notices something is off and you're excluded or treated differently as a result. But I think a lot of people mention they're autistic so others can realise WHY their behaviours are different. A lot of autistic behaviours can be seen as deceitful or bizarre by neurotypicals, like avoiding eye contact, monotonous speech, not adhering to small talk rules, so mentioning it can give a better reason to neurotypicals rather than making them guess and assume that you're purposefully being shifty or rude. The cats can then look at you and say, ah, you're a dog, that's why you don't knock things off the table with the rest of us, rather than thinking you're a shit cat.

I feel like stuff like this is really hard to navigate for the "older generations" or people who don't like being forthcoming with personal information. Growing up, we never spoke about mental illnesses, sexual preferences, or even job titles. Now if feels like everyone is a "as a *enter whatever here* person/job title I *enter whatever else here*" person. I can see how it's uncomfortable or invasive for some folks.

Being "too honest" can be a negative thing. It's more about the inability to read a situation / person / context and saying things that may come off harshly or seem judgmental/offensive to others. She's not saying she's a good person. She's not saying she's better than anyone. She's not saying she's always right. If anything, she's admitting that she is still learning how to communicate in healthy ways.

This is kind of long but it has an important point so if you want to be a better person in life and learn to be more compassionate to others, i suggest you read.
tbh sometimes when i meet new people (usually not on our first encounter though) i will tell them about my actual diagnosed autism because sometimes autism can create misunderstandings and in telling someone I'm usually hoping that they will remember and if a misunderstanding happens they'll choose to act more mature and with more compassion and come talk to me about it instead of choosing to internalize anger towards me about whatever happened and either avoid me, treat me badly, make assumptions about me or talk shit about me to other people. Tbh i cant say it's actually worked a ton bc people tend to be avoidant of issues and choose to be poor communicators regardless of a person's disclosed autism. but I still tell people sometimes in the hope that it will make people act more compassionate or understanding because for me and sometimes for other people with actual autism, having it can make just living life and social relationships really hard. I feel the need to tell people because the kind of autism i have (there's a whole crazy spectrum, literally no two autistic people are alike) is the kind where people cannot tell that there's something wrong with me/ that i have autism, i just sometimes can say things in complete innocence that piss people off and they just assume that i say things with spite and am a bitch who doesn't care about other people's feelings (being unaware that my autism makes it so that I'm not always aware of the connotations my words can have), but in all honesty I'm the complete opposite. I get very very upset when i learn i upset someone because it's never intentional and i really care about other people's feelings more so than the average person i think, and if other people just came and told me how they felt about things, then i would sincerely apologize and work to never say anything similar again, but people don't do that. Because people are avoidant of confrontation and not open about their feelings, I'm usually left to try and notice if they are acting strangely around me or if their facial expression changes in a negative way (which can be very difficult for autistic people to do) and confront them myself in an effort to keep a friendship/ new relationship going well, but even when you ask people if they're upset about something, people usually lie about it, stew about it, and then either write you off, gossip about it and make it harder for you to make friends with others, or lash out about it towards you later. I've been severely bullied and mistreated by people many times in my life due to people not coming and openly talking to me about a simple misunderstanding, so that's why someone with autism may tell you about their autism. This is just my experience. People may tell you about their autism for many reasons because all autism is like so unique, but keep in mind that maybe someone is choosing to be vulnerable and tell you in an effort to not get hurt again.
I agree that it's a bit odd for people to introduce themselves as "hi I'm so and so and im autistic and also here's all of my other issues" though because that's like trauma dumping and generally having disabilities does not make a person desirable, so if you do something like that it's going to make people think you're weird and not want to be around you. Also i think its weird when people say they have a bunch of disabilities that are self-diagnosed. It's like that person thinks its cool to wear my actual struggles as a badge of honor because they think being "neuro-divergent" sounds cool. Anywhooo, i kinda said a a lot here but my point of saying it was to explain to Ken or Pewds or whomever sees this why someone with something like autism might come out and tell you about it early on in meeting them and that you shouldn't really make fun of that, It's kind of hurtful. Because when i do that, I'm trying to make my relationships go smoother than the ones I've had in my past that have hurt me significantly.
Like i said i get why Pewds and Ken were making fun of some of the stuff in this video, i would too, particularly the poser/disability honor badge sort of behavior, but in some parts it seems kind of mean spirited towards people with disabilities. I just would like them to be aware of that. I've been watching both of their channels religiously for about ten years now, Ken is probably my favorite youtuber, so idk i guess it makes their negativity towards people like me/ people with disabilities hurt a bit more. Like would they make fun of me and think I'm a loser because of my autism too? :( thats all.

ADHD is being considered as a congnitive disability at times, especially in the school setting as it can cause major distractions and hinder someones concentration. Some people with autism (both conditions are rarely diagnosed in females from what Ive read) and ADHD tend to over explain in an effort to relate and help others who cannot relate understand what is going on in their head-sometimes whats going on in the person’s mind doesn’t make the most sense to others

I was diagnosed by medical professionals here in Sweden, was diagnosed with ADHD + on the "tism" spectrum, and untreated adhd almost ruined my life, it's horrible.... it has made me develop severe depression, anxiety and extremely low stress-threshhold.

It’s actually good to let people know about your behaviors and tendencies beforehand so nothing gets lost, confused, or misinterpreted in the conversation. A lot of times, people with autism can tell they’re “different”. Diagnosis isn’t always easy to obtain as some people might not have health insurance, some people might live in a household that is abusive and/or doesn’t believe in modern medicine, mental health care, etc. And also, in some states in the US, having an official autism diagnosis can restrict certain rights. For example, in my state, it will ban someone from receiving gender affirming care. Although, I do agree in the fact that it’s kinda ehhhh when people without an official diagnosis confidently go around stating they have XYZ mental illness/disorder. There are people out there who say it without understanding and it can diminish public perception of the illness/disorder. I usually just very briefly explain what is normal behavior from myself whenever I catch myself doing something that could seem “off” or someone else does.

Hey Ken! Great video! Just wanted to let you know that some people choose not to get diagnosed with autism because the price of a diagnosis is around 3 grand, if you're born female it will be harder to get a diagnosis, its extremely difficult to move to certain countries if you're diagnosed (Australia being one), we can lose our parental and reproductive rights, and there is potential for us to lose our legal autonomy! 😬. I do agree that there are probably people out there claiming to be autistic without a diagnosis who really aren't, but there's good reason that plenty decide against an official diagnosis. Self-diagnosis is very harmful towards this who have been diagnosed with mental/intellectual/cognitive disorders, as its downplayed them massively. I was diagnosed last year at 32yo and it took me a whole year to get it, soooo… yeah, I wouldn’t laugh at self-diagnosed people.
