I hate when influencers say that their job is hard. My mom works 10 hours every day at a hospital and is sometimes harassed about the fact that she's "not working enough".
All jobs have their "difficult" aspects, it's when you make other jobs look/feel inferior compared to yours lies the problem.

what i think a lot of people really got upset with is how « amount of effort put in » to « amount of money paid » for influencers is quite different than for other jobs. for example, a medical worker obviously works and studies much harder than a tiktoker, but receives a pay that is not even comparable to influencersâ pay. so from this perspective hearing someone say making tiktoks is harder than other jobs seems ridiculous tbh

Not just competition (it's barely that), it's mostly luck. Just like being a billionaire is mostly luck. The jobs not that hard, it's just getting the job that is. So that further adds to the idea of people being annoyed by what she said. She got lucky and is saying it's so hard and most people couldn't do it... and she's right, cause most of us could never get that lucky. If we got their I'm sure we could put up with all the "meetings" if it meant we got to pick our own hours and make a LOT of money.
I think the biggest insult about this whole situation is that this influencer can complain about long hours and being very exhausted with the whole social media game but someone else who lives a typical life works just as many hours can get only a 10th of the amount of income that this woman can. This woman has a lot of options in which she can quit and live off her savings, many people can't say the same.
The only difference is she's a Tiktoker that makes pennies per thousand. If she were a CZcamsr it would be an entirely different story.
If your working a regular job and getting a 10th of what they make then your doing very well for yourself.

I agree. The way content creation works is VERY easy (even crappy Roblox edits from 9 year old YT/ TikTok accounts count) BUT it is tiring to keep up with popularity rates. STILL, waaay easier than jobs that literally save lives.

However. As a lab tech working in blood bank, Iâve spent multiple nights over 5 years being yelled at, and yelling back at ER doctors, ICU staff, and hearing the shaking in both of our voices as our patient is bleeding out and the only thing they can do is put blood back in them.
You want to have a hard job. Try healthcare. Everyone in a hospital has a life on their hands. Wether or not that person gets to go home is on you.

Honestly these 2 are large established YTers that seem removed from the scene of being a NEW influencer now and what it's like grinding. No hate to either of them, truly, their not doing it intentionally, its just a fact. I see a lot of larger YTers do react vids were they don't look up all the info.

I do think itâs harder than people realize from the outside looking in, but overall itâs an incredibly doable job. You are your own boss and you get to choose when you want to work and how much you want to work. There is soooo much flexibility and leisure which you will not get with conventional jobs. If its so hard for her, she could work elsewhere

I just worked a rave from 6pm to 5:30am. I was bartending til 2am and no break. That is 11 hours nonstop with a bunch of grown ass adults who are high on various substances acting like toddlers. I had a line at the beginning up until they decided cutting was the way they were gonna do it. That causes conflict so Iâm left having to act like Iâm their teacher saying shit like âAm I going to have to call security?â with a look of disappointment. Act like a toddler, get treated like one. Let me tell you that the average customer service employee works harder that a lot of influencers have in their entire life. Thatâs not to say there are challenges to both but I find it humours that people like this think that they somehow are working so much harder than everyone else when they arenât. Like my job is nothing compared to a doctor or nurse who is literally handling peoples lives.

On another note I have watched this ladies videos before she does really nice make-up videos and reviews beauty products, she got me onto these really glittery eyeshadows. It takes her a long time to do her make-up so that's probably why she films for so long and she does alot of brand deals so that's probably why she has lots of meetings but 12-5 is alot of meetings I'm unsure it would take that long.

I follow Mikaela and she confided on her anxiety issues and let me tell you, I've seen this type of person in real work life situations and this is actually real hard. I had this colleagues with unattainable objectives and real low self-esteem and they burn out so fast? Especially if it's their dream job, they stress themselves to the point of losing hair, sleep, friends, even for low stake positions. Can't imagine to young influencers (she's 23), not fully formed and in search of validation through their work đą

Finally, the real content creators that's been in the game for years telling people that its NOT HARD to be a content creator. I think most of the backlash of the influencer job is because it's not a job that's necessarily valuable. It surely is hard to work such a fast-paced and demanding job but knowing most influencers don't create value the same way engineers, teachers, and other traditional jobs do - that's why people bash on them imo.
I worked for a dry ice factory. 12 hour shifts. I worked at a chicken processing plant in a freezer on a 10 hour a day shift. I worked building store displays, spending months at a time in some random part of the country, unable to see my family and working everyday.
But sure, 3-4 hours of filming and alleged 5 hours of business meetings is absolutely too much. Nothing compares to the misery of that.
The sad part is I barely scraped by financially with the jobs I've had, but this woman is definitely making more money in a day than I made in most months.
I wasnât even mad at the fact that she said her job is hard. Yes any job is gonna have hard days and youre gonna feel tired, which is understandable kinda haha relatable. However, it was when she said to âjust try to be an influencerâ like itâs THE hardest job in the world. Harder than the military, contract work, any heavy duty job etc. thats what ticked me off.
I think her point is that people don't know what goes behind the camera, outside the videos that people see. People assume they just turn the camera on, talk for 3 mins and boom, instant money and they have the whole day to drink wine and relax. Thus comments like "try working from 9-5" come about but they don't really know anything.

That last clip hit so hard. I've been living under the poverty line since recovering from cancer. My boss, for reasons nobody understands, dropped me from 40 hours to 8. I couldnt pay rent, my electricity went out and i got chastized for not answering the phone (like bitch pay me so I can pay bills). I had to survive on handouts for food. Got a second job, nearly drove myself into the ground and was still barely making it through.
My friend loses her grandma who she admitted she didnt have much of a relationship with, and asked me to promote her gofundme.

I'm a hospice nurse. Everyone says they could never do it, it must be hard. Based on my experience as a nurse it's not. I did take the move to travel nursing because I'll be paid a lot more for my effort. It won't be me getting paid poorly and the system relying on compassion for me to be okay with the pay I get. Everytime I hear people in healthcare say you don't do it for the money I don't really understand because how many healthcare workers you really think will show up for free? We need money just like anyone else. Inflation affects us too.
At least in my experience, when someone says they couldn't do something like hospice care, they mean it would break them down emotionally.

Basically the healthcare system relies on nurses that will work for poor pay and in a poor environment because they care. They are expected to work without breaks and over the time they are supposed to leave. Your bonus is a pat on the back, the healthcare heros sign, and a pizza party. Which leads to compassion fatigue or burnout. The reason a lot of nurses take travel jobs to have more freedom, more pay, and better benefits. Maybe this is a bit more organized. I was a CNA at a nursing home & I definitely didn't do it for the money. After taking care of both my husband & my Mother before they passed, I felt like it was my"calling" ! Unfortunately they don't want compassionate or empathetic people in the field, so I no longer do it. đ„

If sheâs surprised by how much work her job is, it sounds like she isnât used to doing a whole lot. I remember when I first started working a mentally intensive job I couldnât believe how much time and effort I had to put into it but nowadays I feel proud of my work rather than exhausted by it.
Hopefully, I can get to the point of being driven and motivated.
I'm constantly exhausted and have low energy, and other factors but trying to manage overall health and wellbeing.
The previous job was a good overall experience , and it sucked I have been unwell a couple of times and let go in the end during.

owning your own business isn't "easy", regardless of how much money you make, what hours you work, and what things you do. It's okay if the job you love is tiring and exhausting - idk why people think "loving your job" means "your job is so enjoyable it's not even tiring". That is not how real life works. idk why this is even a debate or "hot take". Have we not seen enough of YTers talking about how they've overworked themselves to the bone and have to go on a mental health hiatus for six months? She's a known name, I think, in the community and I think her main income is from these brand deals. Not sure how short video platforms are monetized like YT or Twitch but she needs to hustle. Makeup is fast paced and you get paid mostly from brands, not exactly views. So yeah its not a walk in the park.

Yeah it's probably because she's filming makeup content but if she plans it out she could make multiple videos off of one look, especially since she does mostly short form content. Every step of her makeup routine could be a different video with how she does videos.

I think we can measure people's jobs on three scales: value of the person, socioeconomic value, and realized financial value. Comparing a nurse and a TikTok influencer, both of them are of equal value in terms of their actual lives. Both lives are indeed sacred. Socioeconomically, a nurse provides larger amounts of utility to the society than an influencer. However, the latter has higher (by a large margin) realized financial value, since they earn more.
I think being an influencer can be an incredibly difficult job not because of the "work" but because of the parasocial relationships. Some crazy shit happens to influencers because of their fans. I know I wouldn't want strangers showing up on my doorstep, or have stalkers going through my trash or (as we've seen happen) showing up at an event with a gun. Not a job I would ever want.
Nurse, I think being a nurse would be the worst. They work so hard dealing with sick people. The hours they workâŠ.no way.
Iâm a nurse. It is definitely a hard job. However there are many things to do with nursing for example my career, I have done many different things. I started as a hospital nurse then I went to case management then I was doing Covid tracing. Now Iâm still working as a RN but as a visiting nursing (the one who goes to peopleâs homes). It is my dream job. I cannot image ever working in another field of nursing. So even hard job can be made better by working in the right department so to speak.
Let me tell you, nursing is a breeze compared to shitty jobs like telemarketing and sales person, that shit can destroy souls đ

The hardest part of content creation is how hard it is to actually succeed, but thatâs mostly luck and consistency, with only the latter controllable.

Creative work does take it out of you, even if people don't realise it. I was a writer and eventually burned out just because I went so hard at it.
