Just placed my order 30 mins ago. An early birthday/ fathers day gift for myself. I have a all blacked out Seiko Solar Chrono. Going solid for 10 years with no issues, holds time to the second. Still looks amazing! Alternatively, I have a collection of automatics that need servicing! I know a lot of people would disagree, but mechanical watches are a pain. I don't have the time, money or patience to worry about servicing a watch. I just need the thing to work, be bullet proof. Look nice in ever occasion! This fits the bill. Super excited!
Just picked one of these up. Only 690 AUD. Can’t go wrong with that! Looks the Mickey Mouse. Edit: The fact that you say it feels better on the wrist than the Black Bay bracelet says a lot! I owned the Black Bay Blue with the original ETA and absolutely loved that thing. Unfortunately life found a way to root me so I had to sell it lol. Spewing TBH, but it’s just a watch is what I tell myself. This video helped me pick this watch over a Seiko SRPJ93K. Totally different watches, but I was stuck on the two of them until I watched this. I always gravitate to Automatic movements, but this time I thought I’ll give their Solar a go, as I do like the look of it better. Great review! Really appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Cheers mate.
Just got it today. So far so good. Can't complain much for the price. My 2 gripes are 24hr sub dial (no idea when I'm gonna use it lol) and the date window is wayyyyyyy tooooooo small. Overall a good purchase tho.
I have the 39mm case ,black vision speedtimer, really pleased with it. I think Seiko did a great job with this particular model, great design and fantastic lume for a chrono, but i wanted the pvd case&bracelet . This will be my next on the list
The black version is awesome - love the turquoise indices! My only reluctance with PVD is the tendency to wear over time. Good excuse to rotate multiple watches!
@dumb.watches if you are careful ,it won't scratch, but yes i agree with you. The black dial is more of a grayish khaki in day-time and the markers look always lumed, pretty cool. Is there any ar coating on your model,on the pvd model there is a slight blue ar
@@dumb.watches I returned it and exchange it for the exact same one you review , i couldn't read time on the pvd watch at night(i am a driver). This one no issues,i do like it,but it is a heavy watch , luckily I managed to get a perfect fit
Great to hear - hope you enjoy! Yep - I found if I removed two links from one side I actually ended up with a better fit as it placed the clasp more centrally on my wrist.
I love this watch. I got one last week and love looking down at my wrist. It might be my favorite watch in my collection. If SEIKO does an update, just remove the date window. Its way too small. The bracelet is also poor but acceptable if that makes any sense.
They did have mechanical chrono release recently (I think it's from the SRQ series). Unfortunately it fell at the USD 3,000 price point. 😅 I have the SSC813, it won me over because of the quality of life improvements. Long lasting power reserve vs a mechanical (thus allowing more watches to be in my rotation, and I can come back to this without rewinding/shaking), Seiko Kinetic Tuna is nice, but needs to be worn/shaken to build up the power reserve while the solar can sit near a window in between days and we can wear it worry free on the next ones. 😅😅😅 Cool vid bro. Will watch out for more. 😅
I love that chrono you mention, just alot of other good watches to choose from at that price point! Would love an automatic SSC911 priced similar to their SPB divers. The 6 month power reserve is great, makes it easy to throw on when rushing out the door and everything else is dead! Thanks for watching and the comment.
I wore both but loved the old one too much. It’s a bit smaller on the eye, but the contrast is bigger because the white is more silver on the new one and the black bedel is more grey on the new one. Like it more as a panda 🐼 so the old one is more for me
Question: did both the top and bottom pushers feel the same to you? Did they both have that same "click?" Hope I didn't get swindled on eBay. My top pusher is very mushy and the bottom pusher is super tactile and clicky. Should I either report it to eBay, contact seiko, or is this something my local watch repair dude can fix right up? Thanks. Great review.
If only it not had an ugly date cutout, a ceramic bezel insert, matching brushing on case and bracelet, endlinks that matched up with the lugs, more micro adjusts and not a useless 24h subdial, then it would be a great (but overpriced) watch. Now i just stick with my Tactical frog no date solar panda chrono.
I believe they’re functionally the same. This one has a slightly larger bezel (although lug to lug remains the same, I recall) and different colour schemes. Would definitely pick the one you like more aesthetically.
I think these are great looking watches with an excellent VFM. Only thing, the proliferation of these chronograph movements with the 24h subdial at 3:00...completely useless function. I refuse to buy any chrono with this movement.
Definitely try one on if you can. The lugs are quite short which makes it more wearable on smaller wrists, but it still has a decent diameter and the bezel has a decent amount of visual weight. I think it would still look great on an 8" wrist.
I have the orient panda with the same movement but it has a mineral crystal and the bracelet is stamped but it’s half the price this Seiko is overpriced for what it is.

Enjoy!
Picked one up and this is my daily watch. Fantastic piece!
I have this one. Really nice. Very comfortable bracelet.
I purchased the variation with the black face / black & red bezel - love it
Great colour- enjoy!

I really like the smaller 39mm model.

So every carrera is a copy of the daytona? Every chrono? This phrase is annoying. Its a chrono. Thats it. And a nice one at that.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Calm down dude. It’s going to be ok. Jesus
Looks better than the daytona by far.

The older model is great. I wish they continued to make both designs as they are different watches.
@@dumb.watches They are! Both nice, but totally different characters to them!
VC new panda also has silver dial so I love this new Seiko Speedtimer 🐼
@@Ricky_L Yeah that VC is nice!! 🤩🐼
I prefer the slightly older more compact release, the dial and hands just looked a little crisper than this, although it's still a nice looking watch.
The older model looks great. Would've been nice if they kept both versions in production as they both scratch different itches (in a good way).
😅my paganni Paul Newman gives me the exact same vibe!

Thats how the watch is. I have it too.

whats the diff between this and the ssc813?
I believe they’re functionally the same. This one has a slightly larger bezel (although lug to lug remains the same, I recall) and different colour schemes. Would definitely pick the one you like more aesthetically.
Contemplating this watch but man the purple on the smaller dials is annoying. I understand those are for function but 😢
Is the pricing in AUD? Cheers
Yep - pricing in AUD.

Nothing wrong with a homage watch at all
What's your wrist size?
7"
@@dumb.watchesI was crossing my fingers the answer to be 8 inches, which is my size, it looks perfect on yours

That's a great looking watch. Hopefully we see the price of the Seiko come down over time as I agree the RRP is quite steep.
$695 on line
It appears it doesn’t have a 12 hour counter, worthless chronograph in my opinion. If I need a 24 hour second time zone counter, I would buy a GMT.
I wish this watch made sense but for $600 it's just too expensive. Especially when I can get any version of the Pagani Design PD1644 for around $60
The grey gradation just spoilt the entire look ! Had to be back throught.....wtf have u Done Seiko !!!
I don’t like the red hand.
The bracelet is so shit but beautiful besides that
Cute little girl watch
😂
