The PP contacted EDP first and Alex in his infinite wisdom admitted it on camera. That alone can give EDP room to claim entrapment and get him off on a technicality.
Them mf PP are some dickheads. They could have actually got him investigated and the cops would have got EDP off the streets away from people's children and got him the help he needs, but because they want that clout, now he's on the run and could have destroyed his phone with the evidence and could be doing worse things.
If people are going to try to help catch predators, they should either do it right or not help at all. Now EPD could just simply move somewhere else where he's unknown, and be a lot more careful with his sick ways. Thus making him more dangerous
entrapment only works as a defense if it's by the government and if the defendant would not have otherwise committed the act without the intervention. EDP won't be able to claim entrapment because predator poachers are private and not associated with law enforcement. To catch a predator's investigations never got struck down because of entrapment, but it was possible to use entrapment because, after the first season, they actively worked with law enforcement. A collaborator with To catch a predator, perverted justice, lost a case due to an entrapment defense. While EDP likely won't be able to use entrapment, A lawyer may be able to prevent a lot of evidence from being presented in court, even the video, given the circumstances around PP's sting operation.

Several things. Regardless how sloppy these two guys were EDP pretty much hung himself. He stood there talking to them while admitting to the entire thing. Admitting he came there to hook up with a 13 year old. Admitting that he knew her age. Admitting that he had contact with other minors online. They have nude pictures of him that he sent the decoy, and once again he admitted to it. Also, regarding TCAP, they were quite successful. Yes, the one investigation in Texas was thrown out but that was only one state. Did you know there are still guys who were busted on TCAP that are still locked up in prison or on probation? 15 years later still feeling the results of what they did.
oh no doubt this was good for the public opinion court. and to the second part yes, i touched that in the video when i said "there were still successful cases". however one of the men who got released in texas went to actually sexually assault a minor. and many that got caught knew it could be a setup, meaning the deterence factor was little to none because they still went for it. it even applies to edp.
but we dont need to compromise. we could still have this without evolving civilians, which is the best solution to me, even if the cases go south. at the very least, the best chances were there
edp will most likely be on probation registers as a predator pay 50-150k fine wnd stay away from kids and no social media

The evidence is text messages. There is no defence when you voluntarily exchange messages with what you believed was a minor. You automatically have the power to tell that minor "no". Coaxing isn't going to be a good defence in this case.
If a minor texted you now and told you how good-looking you are and how attracted they are to you, will you continue talking to them bc they "flattered" you? No.

If you notice, predator poachers first started bringing up the fact of kissing and then sex I believe. They started it and edp sorta just followed. He was not coerced, forced, threatened, blackmailed, etc to continue the conversation. The average reasonable citizen would have immediately stopped after finding out that they were messaging a minor. He didn't. He continued. Thus he had the intent.
