One thing about Rita’s story that I’ve always admired is despite being divorced from Orson and Ali they still came to her defense when her abusive 4th (?) husband left her kids in the care of someone who neglected them without her knowing and the court wanted to take them from her. You know your a wonderful mom if even your ex husbands come to your defense to say “she is a wonderful woman and would never harm our child” which says a lot about the her character and both their characters despite them not being faithful to her
Yep, Lindsay mentioned it towards the end, but it goes to show how Ali and Orson still had a form of respect towards Rita not only as the mother of their children, but as a person
If the court took the children from Rita, they would go to the fathers to raise. Maybe the fathers would rather she got them back, than having to raise the children themselves.
I know a couple that divorced years ago, yet still stay together half of the time and vacation together to provide a stable home life for their two kids. People who knew them prior were surprised they “split” as they seemed so perfect and they replied they had an agreement never to argue or even contradict each other in front of others especially their children. I highly respect that, and wish more parents followed their example.
@@TawnyC_ I see your point, but these were both WILDLY famous and VERY RICH men. If these kids went back to their fathers, they'd just been raised by nannies. No skin off their noses at all. We are talking about Royalty and American Royalty here.
@@junejunejuniejune How do you know it wouldn't be any skin off their noses? For various reasons, it would cramp their lifestyles.
“He was really popular with the ladies”
Me: 😉
“He had over 50 Mistresses-“
Me: 😱
That’s…..an understatement.😮😒
Nell :Come here you little bastard 💀🤣 and say hello to your father 🤣🤣..
The king: don't call my children that.
Nell: Well your majesty has given me no other name by which to call him.
The king: God save the earl of Beaufort...
I'm sorry I can't help it 🤣😂🤣 the way Lindsey narrates it is cracking me up.
Thank you for the new video always looking forward to learn something new about history 😀.
Nell sounds like my kind of girl, she knows who she is and isn’t afraid of that fact.
Nell seems like a fucking queen omfg “come here you lil bastard” I’m deceased
Nell Gwyn is my ancestor. She was pretty ruthless and made sure her children had a good life. ❤️
If I had a romance with someone in that genre, it would be William Shakespeare 💕
You loved younger men.
He's literally young enough to be your son 😭😭
If I could go back in time for an afternoon, I'd love to have tea with Nell Gwyn. I'm sure she'd have amazing stories that are lost to history. 👍🏻😉
As an artist, your profile picture had me tricked for a sec there.
@@haveawonderfulday-17yearsa48 LOL! 😻👍🏻
she honestly seemed iconic
@@haveawonderfulday-17yearsa48 Agreed the Mona cat frfr
Off topic, but whenever I think of Edward VII, I think about those vacant blue eyes from his portrait (and the fact that the specific shade and physical appearance) came from Queen Victoria. For a good point in time, it seemed like all of her grandchildren looked almost like carbon copies of her including the eyes (especially Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine & Princess Alice) 😂
Incest tends to do that
Edward literally looked like Victoria dressed as a dude. That must have annoyed her to no end, hah.
Wow, I never knew Rita Hayworth was married to a Prince! She walked so Grace Kelly and Meghan Markle could run 😁
I wish more discussion or scenes of Rita Hayworth were shown of her. Just overall. She's spellbinding when she dances
I haven't seen yet the entire video, but just watching Dora Jordan's portrait I knew you would delight us with her story. Such a wonderful actress and mother, but she was let down for all the men in her life. Thank you so much for talking of her. If there's someone who wants to get more information of Dorothea Jordan, her biography by Claire Tomalin is a must read.
Jean Plaidy did one too, more of a narrative one - but it's also a good read too.
I’ve never even heard of this lady but after seeing your comment and praise for her book, I’m Guna into getting a copy. So Thank you very much 😊 x
@@jessfawkes5727 Oh, I mean, I'm happy if it makes you want to know more about Dora
She had 14 children ?!! God she was so brave
Well damn, Dora put her body to work with all of those pregnancies 😳
Sarah Bernhardt lived the kind of life we could only dream of. What a wild-ass woman.
"Swore like the ex-orange wench she was" I need to remember to use that one
My Great-Grandfather was really into them “classy actresses”. My son, Charles however is a wicked case…
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 so true
Pretty much every Edward's like that
Edward II lost his kingdom for the sake of love/lust
Edward III literally cheated on his wife while she was on her deathbed
Edward IV lost his kingdom because of love/lust but he won it back because he wasn't useless like Edward II
Edward V and me didn't live long enough but I can speak for myself, I would totally enjoy some of the benefits of being royal
Edward VII is Edward VII, no justifications required
And Edward VIII, well another Edward who gambled away his kingdom for love/lust
If I was in that Era, I would’ve had so many 😹
Really??? Mhm
@@queenelizabethiofengland7338 yes really.
Jk lovely it’s a joke
I mean if I had lived longer -
I'm not saying I would overdo it but ayye a monarchs gotta find entertainment somehow 👀
I always scream when I get a notification that Lindsay posted 😂
I really loved Rita's story and nells God their isn't many happy endings ❤️
Incase anytime is wondering, the second part is up as an unlisted video in the Royal history playlist, along with a two part series on Napoleon’s siblings! Have fun!
How do you see unlisted videos?
He's a Patreon maybe idk or She made a mistake and he's telling us. That's cool about Napoleon's siblings one of them, Pauline, was a Giant Ho.
@@mediocremaiden8883 No, I am not. If you go to the Royal History playlist and scroll down you will find them eventually.
@@ekleamon1 If you go to the Royal History playlist and scroll down you will find them eventually.

Like, obviously you shouldn’t click links people put in a CZcams comment, but if you’re brave enough this is the link to the Napoleon’s siblings episode. Part 2 is in the playlist.
I remember reading about Nell Gwyn in the novel The King's Favorite.
Who wrote it? 🤔I’m always looking for new books to read.😌
Nell is my favorite. Her pettiness is what I strive for in life. 😂
Maybe a video on some notable illegitimate royal children? Not all, but just the ones who went on to do interesting things or whose descendants are interesting
Would you ever do an episode on William and Kate, or Harry and Meghan?
Especially when it comes to Harry and Meghan, there’s so much sensationalization, I don’t know what the actual conflicts are and what’s just over blown. I would love to hear your take as I respect your ability to research and represent events and people factually!
Well it ALL started with Harry and Meghan left the RF at first we as a mass population support the decision until Oprah came and the duo Created lies like how archie isn't made a prince, how they married 3 days, how they tooked her passport and how "racist" the RF when it is opposite now fast forward few months after that they still doesn't shut up i suggest to watch Body language guy, according to taz and trevor coult and how just find out every hated the duo
Watch HG Tudor to understand H & M.
I personally am not interested. It’s sensationalism and barely happened long enough ago to be called “history”. There’s no way a large portion of the video wouldn’t be speculation as the royal family will not comment anything meaningful about it. The facts we learn from Lindsay’s videos are sometimes not revealed until years/the generation after the event.
Well, I’m assuming Harry and Meghan will be featured in the second part of this series. And we did get a few videos that William featured in before too.
Totally agree with this.
Whoops, shouldn't have this on my screen that people outside my office can see 🤣
For Part 2,Catherine Oxenberg Of Dynasy Fame Is A Real Life Princess,She's The Daughter Of Princess Elizabeth Of Serbia(Formerly Yugoslavia) And She's Related To The British Royal Family. She's Also A Descendant Of Catherine The Great!!! She Was Married To The Actor Casper Van Dien.
Princess Theodora of Greece has also done some acting too
She had a problem getting her daughter out of that NVXM cult. The cult leader had to be convicted to get her out of there.
Congratulation Lindsay on 700k subscribers 😊
I remember Hayworth from American Princess
After this video I’m a bit in love with Nell Gwynn myself she sounds like an absolute riot
"Comédie Française" is pronounced /Comedy Franseyse/.
Anyone else really want a Nell Gwyn or Sarah Bernard TV show now?
There are earlier examples of Royals and Actresses like Justinian The Great and his wife Theodora
nell was such an icon 😂
Weird had no idea Orson Welles ever married much less to Rita freaking Hayworth.
5:41 so iconic
9:12 🤣 they intended to wed but hadn't accomplished it before they moved in together & had 3 children. Did either have an impediment like a former spouse they hadn't yet divorced? If so, that line might make sense. Without that, I find it funny
Yes! A new video!
Keep up the historical Royal gossip lindsay!!!
17:30 I really said "Girl, dump his ass" like this command is going to retroactively change history XD
If we could go back in time...
Ooo a new vid! I lovvve when you spill the historical tea ☕. This one sounds spicy too 😂
Great Video and the first one 😀
Yeah the 1st ine is… eeehhhh
Thank you for proving that history is informative fascinating & fun!
I really love your videos and I learn so much from them. Thank you! But please, stop mispronouncing Comédie-Française. Letter ç has the “s” sound to it, so it’s “frãse:z” not “frãke:z”.
Amazing video as always!👏👏
Amazing video!
is this a reupload? just curious because i remember this and the second part, especially the ending of part two about american women are more likely to become princesses than supreme court judges. one of my coworker's daughter worked with us over the summer and she joked about wanting to marry the prince of greece and denmark and i got to pull that stat out like "ha! it's more possible than getting on the supreme court!!" lol
Love the series keep it up
This was fantastic!
Well done!
Thank you Lindsay!😭💜💜
Pls do a part 2 of this video
Nell sounded like a total hoot!!
Very interesting
today's my birthday! so thankful for this post today
Thank you so much for all your history information. I thoroughly appreciate and enjoy your channel.
Need to read a Sarah Bernhardt biography ASAP.
Congrats on 700k
Thanks for the special thank you..im at work watching and heard my name...I watch this channel several times a day
Could you do a video about the Builtmore house and the Vanderbilt family!!!?????
Yay! I love Tuesdays and My Girl aka My Lady aka Our Very Own Fellow History Buff Royalty aka The Mother of Dragons aka The Lady Lindsey's New Video Day! 😍
Poor Rita.
You should do a series of the Queen mother's of the monarchies
Long live the British Royal Family ❤️🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧
So were earldoms left open for people… or would there be an earl and the king just gave it away to his son
Looks like I'm first
Also very good video lindsay keep it up!
Now I’m just waiting for your video of the queens life
@LindsayHoliday: didnt you already release part 2 awhile back? i remember watching part 2 with grace kelly & meghan markle already lol
My one claim to fame, being related to Dorothea Jordan and King William.
nell sounds like an absolute riot
My favorite celebrities are the doll that look like them
history is a mystery.
Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth❤️
Sarah was so fucking cool dude
4:34 lol
R U going to do a piece on Harry and the actress?
Now I need a video of how the new monarchy will be for Britain. Does it mean Prince Henry’s children can have the title of prince or princess when his father is crowned the official king. Will Princess Kate become the new princess of wales now that her husband is the official heir.
Kate is now Princess of Wales as William was created Prince of Wales. And yes, legally Harry’s children are Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet of Sussex, but it seems at the moment they are still being addressed without their titles. Similar to how Prince Edward’s kids are entitled to be Princess Louise and Prince James legally but don’t use their royal title and style either.
Would you say that King Edward 8th was the last king to have known mistresses?
U mean Aga Khan 😮
It's "Comedie Française" (the ç is spoken like "s").
我今天下午去士林中正路買了香水和進口香皂呢。
Rita’s hairline looks the same before & after🤔
Actresses and Duchesses, the great loves of my life!
I loved more girls than I ate pie, but I couldn't stand my wife!
Oí. Meghan Markle was never Hollywood royalty.😂
I didn’t even know who she was until she was married to prince Harry 😅
Mud caked? People did wash back then, even the peasants. They didn't take full baths regularly but they did was every day
Queen died 😭
LONDON BRIDGE IS DOWN
The Queen has died 😢
Long live the King!
I wonder if Rita spoke Spanish
英王室的王子們,有些十分瀟灑英俊的。
for over 1000 years of royalty.
Queen Elizabeth is dead at 96
Sarah Bernhardt has a son too didn’t she? Who was supposed to be addicted to gambling and squandered her money but she was still devoted to him
我買了chole 的香水。一瓶耍1399元。
因為我平常都是用美國的Ivory香皂。
Fabulous video, as always!
If I may, French pronunciation is a bitch. Cannes is "can", like canned food. "Cahn" is a different French city, spelled Caen.
Comédie Française has a hard c in comédie, and a soft c in Française.
Americans are extremely bad for our (british) royal family. Princess Grace was a very good princess of monaco but if she had married into the BRITISH Royal family i think it would have been a different story. I stuck up for meghan markle when my late sister expressed her doubts but my sister turned out to be right and i was wrong. I do hope that any future royals who are thinking of marrying americans will either think again or leave the royal family, without all the rubbish that meghan and harry are putting us through. I really cannot imagine why the media is insisting on pestering us with them.
Sarah Bernhardt was very compassionate towards her ex. I would have sent him on his way.lol.
那兒还有baby用的肥皂,我也買了用耒洗臉呢。
是義大利進口的,好棒。
The Queen died! :(
若是那兒也有賣進口皮包不知有多好呢。?
