A couple JBs are nothing. I found 14 in one single room.

Maybe because you mentioned Ring Doorbell, before correcting that to Ring security cameras, that's made me think, they''re probably going to be thinking of a Ring doorbell very soon.

Seems North American "DIY Daves" are worse. In one basement I found a total of 28 JBs, with 4 within a meter of the Panel. All of the JBs were hidden within a finished ceiling except for the 4 near the Panel.

Sounds like something one of the YT spark channels from the UK found in a house, might have been CJR Electrical. Some joist bays looked to be filled completely with cables and JBs.

It's no wonder Pary P was brought in. It's a shame most homeowners know about it.

Seems like a reverse lollipop circuit. Depending how it's configured then a MCB adjustment on rating may be required and it would still meet regs . Or just remove a leg and it's a branch radial. Now would you do it like that NO. And it's a real easy house to re wire and configure radials to each room/s so I would definitely advise the same.

'DIY Dave' checking in. Just spent a day last week sorting out the 'remedials' done by the 'Professional Pete'. Not really up to my standards.
But mummy and daddy government have decided that it is law they are sent to my home to poke around every few years and slowly make things worse as they go round moving your furniture and leaving all your devices unplugged.
You unplugged it. PLUG IT BACK IN FFS.
This time it was removing the perfectly good fluoro striplight in the bathroom, fitting a tiny little 5watt LED unit that puts out less light than my old Nokia 5110, has shaver socket on the wrong side, poorly fitted, siliconed to the wall and a small gap above it to access the wires behind because the new unit has a tiny footprint.
YAY for Professional Pete who completely ignored the outdoor socket being corroded and wet

Now I am not by all means a qualified spark like you and many of the other CZcamsrs who I enjoy watching, but it’s absolutely appalling that some Napit / NICEIC accredited companies have horrific workmanship that could potentially cost someone’s life. Take for example, I had my bathroom refitted 5 years ago and they got an “electrician” in to install the spotlights, pull chord and mirror.
The wiring was absolutely terrible and the connections had been done out of them cheap nasty choc block connectors that were left almost touching the ceiling joists, along with using the existing ceiling rose above the inaccessible false ceiling as a make shift junction box to do the loop, switch and load wiring for the spots. I ended up ripping the whole lot out myself and starting out from scratch, reterminated the spots and replaced all the junctions with wago connectors and box - all as a DIYer and it was a messy job. I know some genuine electricians can be fussy about DIYers doing their own work but I think as long as you follow it closely by the book, have common sense and competency then there isn’t really a problem with that. I am not saying that people should go poking around wiring up their own consumer units and tampering with meter tails as for equipment like that I think you need specialist tools, which only a proper electrician will have!

In 1970 the election wired my kitchen with a ring and then every drop to a double socket via a JB 😼

Don't pull out cables that can be used as pull throughs ...for new stuff ....

I heard a rumour that those old black heads are potentially becoming conductive in their old age. Bashing it is probably not great either so be careful, if it’s true.

While it's good work for you, it certainly is disappointing to see such poor workmanship. I don't think people truly appreciate how dangerous this sort of thing can be. Fires and electrocutions are not for the faint of heart. Cheers, mate.
