What I wouldn’t give to get a whole series of lesson videos from Myles
As a non guitarist, after learning to play watch over you and wonderful life (both in open G) in acoustic guitar I found so much inspiration to try and write something in open G. I ended up writing a song that I really like without knowing almost anything guitar
Yep... started playing guitar again after 20 years, and learned Watch Over You as my first song back on guitar. Then thought, while I'm learning in Open G, might as well learn Wonderful Life. Really like Open G. Now, most of the time I have one guitar tuned to standard and the other to Open G.
Myles is the man, very insightful
same tuning, tune it down half step to DbGbDbGbBbDb now you can play 'In Loving Memory'. this open string tuning is so beautiful. every time I'm on acoustic Wonderful Life, Watch Over You and In Loving Memory are top of the list.
I’m so glad you mentioned tuning that B string a little flat. That’s the key. That and muting the low string with your thumb over top when you’re not using it. 😂❤
It's really cool to hear, thanks Myles
Miles thank you. Shows humility! One of the best singers in the world taking time for hacks like me.
I love this! Thank you Myles, how cool to learn from your hero :D
Thanks Myles. Nice, short and sweet. I appreciate your time and definitely your music. ✌🏼
Thank you myles for being such a down to earth and awesome guy. And sharing knowledge to those of us just learning to play.
Thanks guys these type of lessons helps me a lot
I love that tuning so inspirational thank you so very much for the great video I had to subscribe.
Ok, I am going to start working with open tunings more. Thanks for this!

Thank you Miles
Keef is recognized as one of the great guitarist because of open G.
Thanks Bro
My biggest takeaway from this is tuning the B string a bit flat. Thank you, Myles!
Open G is magical.
Cool lesson! Would be curious to hear this guitar miced and not direct
Cool Name for your site! ✌️😎
How about a lesson on Cross picking?
Open Em tuning
does mark play the solos to these songs in the same tuning or just standard and playing in the key of the open tuning? cuz i know Open Your Eyes was an open tuning but it had one badass solo in it
Does detuning on the B string apply to the Banjo as well?
Smokin Magnificent Gibson Acoustic there man!!
Anyone knows wot this series? J? JS sth? 🧐😊
Its so nice to hear an advice on detuning B 😑
I actually changed my strings, thinking they were bad because no matter how much I tuned there was just something sounding off in Open G...had I only known it was just the B string.
Who is the one dislike! Come on man, it’s Myles, there is no one nicer than him
It's axl
@@thyop89 HAHAHAHAHA 😁
It's Scott Stapp
@@thyop89or Scott Stapp
I was thinking the open G tuning is an Alterbridge signature chords
How come the b string sounds flat ?
Keith Richards favorite tuning!
Thanks your vocals are assume
Altered tuning/ alter bridge tuning
Kalem sob
Wacht over you is in Open G !!
What's the guitar he's using 🤔??
Thank you for the excellent video 😊
The Lord’s love + grace be with you
Hope you are all well and resting in Jesus saving love + grace 😊
Blessings friends 😊
I tune the sixth string up to G to give a double drone.
There's another interesting reason it sounds so appealing as it relates to resonant sound frequencies and how they affect everything around us including our own bodies, the current standard tuning (A440) was only instituted in 1939 (which is worth researching!), Prior to this it was 417,
Very basically, the current standard promotes a frequency of 741htz which is disruptive, open G (specifically open Gsus4) promotes a frequency of 528htz which is extremely beneficial, there's plenty of precedent for thIs, weather your inclined spirituality, scientifically, neither or both, I'll post a link below worth watching,
Love ya work miles! Particularly your acoustic sets with slash, fuckin' awesome,
Cheers🤟

Aca intentando que mi guitarra no se rompa con esa afinacion xd
Or you could take the B string all the way down to B flat for open G minor. I love the minor tonality. Not as pretty as major tones but it's like my little granddaughter once told me "Grandpa, quit playing that sad music". Sorry girl, Grandpa got the blues.
its called “tempering” the tuning
His hands are strumming like bees
Myles is transitioning into Steven Tyler...
With 10x the talent
Nope. Steven Tyler looks like a floozy great aunt.
Are you Kevin bacon in disguise.
He's actually Macaulay Culkin with long hair
…thanks Myles….
Not much song writing here...
Take that low E string off…..it’s klunky..
