- Tiny house maverick, Abel Zimmerman Zyl, takes a fresh and detailed look at the Ark Tiny House. This house, built in 2015, is known the world over for its wild, artistic form.
Designed and built at the Zyl Tiny Homes workshop in Olympia, WA, USA - The Ark is unforgettable in form. It features dramatic arched windows, a circular entryway, and distinctly functional interior.

This house has more built-ins. Many of my other houses have a more open feel. Just depends on who I am building for!

This is one of my favorite designs to date. It's very disarming, in the most positive sense. I'm 6'3" and this looks like it could accommodate someone of a larger stature. Your designs remind me of a hobbit house, with warmth and whimsy.

I seriously love your homes ever thought about a bridge or catwalk between the lofts and a drawer dishwasher and a confection oven/microwave ( for those of us who like to bake ) and larger apartment size fridge lifted with a drawer built in drawers and shelving for books love the stained glass omg would love you to build my house stackable washer/dryer love the seat in the shower maybe glass door shower of course composting toilet with a small door that can be accessed from outside for easier disposal , more for full time living like a forever home I can almost envision it

Hello Zyl, I am crazy ,about the Damselfly house. In my opinion, it's an amazing house yes, but it's also a dreamy, peaceful and spirit lifting, work of art. I guess I sound corny, but I mean every word. You are brilliant, and I love your videos. You stated ,in your video, that it would work for someone who is disabled. Would a bath chair work in the shower? I had never heard of "Damselflies"
.Well, I had, but we called them by another name. "Dragonflies /Snake Doctors "

This design could be easily modified to work with ADA requirements. I would have to widen the bath door, add grab bars, remove the sink cabinet, and use a zero-threshold shower (transfer type). The kitchen would have to be modified somewhat too... but all this is pretty easy, and wouldn't add to the cost. The appliances could be added in, but again, we'd have to modify the kitchen setup. We have both dragonflies and damselflies. Damselflies are the smaller, slenderer ones.
Mr. Vardos, I really enjoy your tours of the Tiny Houses. There would only need to be one change for me which would be in two parts. A standard flush toilet and, I would want to be connected to all of the underground services. I also would love to have you build me a Tiny House as the space inside would be enough for me. You are phenomenal and God Bless.
Most of the tiny houses I build have flush toilets. There is a lot of flexibility in how the interior is fitted out.

I think this one is about 38" diameter, and 23" deep.

I suppose, if you slosh a ton of water around, you'd have to dry it out each time. It is easy to reach down there.

This house is great, but I especially love the "Pinafore" house that I saw in another video on CZcams. That house only had one bedroom loft, but there was a living room area with a sofa that could also allow for a sofabed. Also, there was a beautiful shower and a full apartment size stove with an oven in that house. The outside was also quite beautiful, with leaded glass and stained glass windows and a copper roof that was outstanding. Your work is amazing, but I can only assume that these custom built homes are quite expensive for such small houses. I have not seen any videos that give any idea of a range of prices. Is that something that you would disclose or give an idea of?

True... the person I originally built this for had a big hammock chair hanging from the ceiling... that was his couch! I am, myself, a bit fan of a good couch...
