- The Zenia Tiny House was designed and hand-crafted by Zyl Tiny Homes, especially for Caravan - The Tiny House Hotel, in Portland, OR, USA. You can book a stay in this house at: www.tinyhousehotel.com
The entire front facade of this house is done in handblown stained glass. When the sun shines in, it is magic.

happy to see someone building for universal accessibility at least on the main level.
That stained glass is seriously to die for!
Apart from the beautiful Tiny House I really love how you composed the video. You show the things people want to see, you talk, but don't overtalk and the music is a nice addition, which creates a very calm and relaxed energy. Well done! And thank you :)
Thanks. Making video is fun... kinda like writing a song.
Fun...but not everyone is good at it...just like writing songs ;)
@@ZylTinyHomes Just began doing a cooking show. You have inspired me. I so love doing the show and want to follow your example with minimum talking--and model your delightful and understated humor. Excellent work.
i adore stained glass and the colors are so perfect, this is taken straight out of my dreams
Such a beautiful design and that it is wheelchair accessible and handicap friendly are two very important qualities I have been looking for. I am disabled due to spinal injuries and have to use either a rolling walker or my wheelchair depending on the situation and how I am doing on a given day. Thank you for sharing your incredible work and showing that you can do a tiny house for people in situations like mine. ❤️👍🏻😍
It is s whimsical, and so you! The fact that is wheelchair acc...is just amazing
Oh the kitchen sink and counter top are wonderful. This is a labor of love. The stain glass windows add another perspective and great detail. Cedar shakes. You enjoy what you do.
Workmanship is outstanding! Also...it's the first tiny house I've seen that is handicapped accessible..
This beautiful TH home shows that you can build a home that’s handicap accessible. I seriously question though whether that fold out bed would be easily done by a person in a wheelchair.
This little space is literally just a few blocks from where my daughter lives. What a lovely idea!
Beautiful work, as always...
My dream is to retire and live in a tiny house exactly like this one. I absolutely love it! 💛
I fell in love with it! Congratulations!!!🎉🎉🎉
Very beautiful.
👍💗 my dream tiny!
I am in love. The love behind this work is stunning.
Absolutely stunning!!!
Stunning
Such a beautiful home!!!
A work of art.
I love the details like the stained glass and sink and the width of the floor plan. You are so creative and unique. 😌
Incredibly beautiful. As usual, well done Zyl!
Love the whimsical but sturdy designs! Love, love, love it!!!
Another great story by Abel Zyl.
Such beautiful work!!!
Impressive as always! I look forward to seeing your new posts on you tube! You are very talented and have such originality! It's obvious that you put yourself into your designs! Beautiful!
This home is stunning! 👍👍👍😊 Perfect for me!
thanks a gillion for sharing.... awesomeness
Sooooo distinctive.
You are a master, Sir.
Wow so beautiful house.
Awesome!
Fabulous home Able, I love the cedar panels, and the beautiful stain glass windows
Thanks kindly!
Abel your houses are exquisite...Alice in Wonderland explorations of form.. function..beauty and whimsy...my favorites are the Pinafore..the Fortune Cookie...Zenia and the Ark..the curves and stained glass bring joy to the eye and the soul...i live in Ireland so i can but dream...but thank you for sharing your limitless creativity and talent...
Would DIE for one!! ❤
You are Amazing!!!
Able, you have talent!
You’re a master of woodworking and design 🤙🏻
What a beautiful tiny house. You are a true artist and craftsman. The stained glass is glorious.
Credit for the stained glass goes to Bill Hillman of Mansion Glass, Olympia! A true artist.
Very nice video.
I just discovered you and subscribed. Your designs are amazing! Keep up the great work.
I saw someone call you Abel...that’s my oldest boys name! Good choice mama! Now on to the cabin, LOVE the glass, when you can’t really put lots of your own art up on the walls, I guess using the window spaces is the next best thing and even an improvement. But I don’t know about that bed downstairs, you’d have to leave it out if you really were in a chair! Cute! I dig your work! Why can’t MY Abel build ME something like that!
Reta Taylor maybe he will
Or even something else just as talented as Abel Z.
But for the God given talent that your son Abel can do only because there is no one like your son Abel
Belinda Hawkins that's so true, well, not about building me a tiny house, but he does have his talents and has never had anybody dislike him in his 48 years. Sweetest guy EVER & I'm so proud to be his only mama! He'd go crazy over these tiny houses like I am!
Absolutely Perfect are the only two words I can use. The flow is awesome but the use of the stained glass especially custom is just brilliant. Would love to have you design and build my tiny forever home. Notice I said Home!
Thank you!
Thanks
Beautiful! Am I the only person who noticed that he doesn't have his sideburns and love patch at the beginning? I love his designs!
Yep. Filmed the intro last... and after shaving. Hahah
Gorgeous home. I love that it is wheelchair accessible, however, I think one thing was overlooked when considering :wheelchairs, "the kitchen sink or any sink", the wheelchair can get under the counter but how can they wash dishes? I know because I've tried and it strains the spine terribly!!! when leaning forward to reach the sink, spigots or anything that is out of reaching distance and being SHORT, almost everything is, including cabinets, which have always been one of my biggest pet peeves in homes and apts. Always too high and too far away to reach the corner ones, so I only get one level of cabinet use normally, sometimes 2 with a reacher type gadget, The countertop and sink are so beautiful. Like the bars by the commode, very needed and helpful, as is the seat in the shower. If I may give you one tip for the future, consult the communty or city office for "handicap building regs or tips", even ask a person who is handicap. They will appreciate being asked for their opinion. I know I would. Good luck!!
Thanks much for the feedback. That design, as a hotel room, had a few limitations... and I was aware of the sink difficulty.
Utterly charming, but why just plywood for the interior walls? It looks so plain compared to the outside.
+Anne Marie Some folks like a smoother wall surface... depends on who I am building for.
:O that roofline though...another lovely space, Abel. Do you ever take apprentices?
So beautiful! Once again well done Zyl! Painting the plywood walls white would make the door, floor, ceiling and trim look even more spectacular. Make them really pop....just saying.
You're such an artist. Is it insulated for winter(like, terrible Québec winter style)?
My recent builds are very well insulated. They would fare OK in Quebec, if you protected the plumbing going in and out from freeze.
Make a Cajun Swamp Cabin. They were made out of Cypress.
great work. Congratulations. what is the name of the app you use use to draw this tiny house?
I would like to know as well
Beautiful...
how long does it take to complete a ready tiny home ???
+Red bear Alaska About 2 months for something like the Zenia
That is gorgeous! Since you were building it specifically for a hotel, did that change the insulation you used?
No, it is insulated the same as all my tiny houses.
it'd be cool if you could show off your actual house too :) I bet you have all sorts of neat acrobatic stuff inside
Haha. It is a late 60's rambler. Not as exciting as my tiny houses!
Zyl Vardos hmmmm yeah I dunno. I think I just really resonate with your taste. like alot. I'm not sure if you have an Instagram but I remember seeing an photo of you inside one of your builds and there was a brightly colored hammock or acrobatic sling thing behind you as you were smiling up towards the camera. I thought every object placed in that photo was so perfect...but I don't remember it exactly... do you know what photo I'm talking about?
Zyl Vardos you know what your style reminds me of?? it resembles like... a children's museum... just really intuitive for play... such a delight looking through your living spaces
rokeeffe91
He has have some privacy
Even though we want to see some of his quirky behavior and things
We must restrain from it
I lobe your houses! But how are those stairs t the bedroom wheelchair accessible?
There is a pull out bed on the main floor. The owners have a really nice ramp for the entry... which was not in place when I filmed this video.
@@ZylTinyHomes Oh. okay, thanks!
Every house is so incredible but after watching so many, I wonder how so many people can do without a bathroom sink.
It seems soooo unsanitary. If you are living alone, I suppose you could use the kitchen sink, which grouses me out but what if you have company? Do you have little fold down sinks available or do people just not want them?
+Kimmie Elzain Many of my houses have sinks in
the bathrooms. 💦
What kind of roofing is that?
It is called Onduvilla. Really nice stuff!
I love the look of it. Is it asphalt or metal?
@@markleahy7706 I know I'm very late, but according to the website, "Onduvilla is made from a composite of asphalt with a fiber matte core".
“It’s wheelchair accessible” *walks up stairs*
Indeed. This is a multi purpose space and the main floor IS wheelchair accessible (there is a pull out bed also). The loft, of course, is not.
This comment section is so bizarre. The same accessibility comments repeated ad nauseum (there's less than a hundred comments, why wouldn't you see if yours has already been made?) and people asking for information that was explained in the video.
Did we all watch the same video? Was their an edited re-upload? What's happening?
Also the green kitchen tiles are divine, and the rounded shapes in the staircase just unmade me.
To be honest, I am happy to answer comments about accessibility. It IS a great challenge to design a tiny house (which is very compact, by nature) and also allow for accessibility norms (which need room, by nature). I welcome the feedback. And just to be fair, this particular structure was built for Caravan, a tiny house hotel in Portland OR. Some parts of it are convertible to accommodate someone in a wheelchair. However, because of the city mandated size limit, it could not meet all ADA guidelines.
@@ZylTinyHomes I would love to see a fully ADA compatible tiny house; it sounds like a huge undertaking though!
You're more patient than I am; I would be fully at "Jesus-take-the-wheel" the third or fourth time I answered the exact. Same. Question.
Beautiful work as ever. You're truly the best.
Wouldn't that be hard to pull out the bed for somebody in a wheelchair?
Since this house is at a hotel, the owners 'set up' the room, pull out the bed and replace the front steps with the wheelchair ramp when it is needed.
Ahh. Gotcha.
Tam M
Well if they have an assistant or probably a modification would be made specifically for them
Was that a butt-crack? Hahaha
Don't try to take that thing to California. No shingled roof's.
The roof is Onduvilla. Guessing you are referring to the siding?
Bathroom is perfect for an handicapped person. But, it seems to me that sleeping loft is nt suitable for an handicapped person. And kitchen cabinet is too minimal in nature.
There is a slide-out queen bed downstairs. And I explain the (small) kitchen in the video! ; )
Thank you Captain Obvious. Of course, the couch/bed is for the handicapped person. The loft is obviously for able-bodied guest. maybe a relative or friend of handicapped person. He also said it was built in short stays in mind, so yes, the kitchen cabinetry is supposed to be minimal.
