    I miss the original Fortune Cookie and dear Kera. This tiny home was the reason I fell in love with tiny homes. I'm happy to say I've been able to visit Kera in the Fortune Cookie!

    Super cool. An old friend built a similar twin axle tiny house. He recycled the frame & made it the shape of a horseshoe. He built it similar to a boat in that each bulkhead worked as ribs. Outside rib frame are screwed half inch by 4" cedar tongue & groove. Hot water pipe coiled round stove runs on wood pellets coal or firewood. Potty-digester-tank=Methane runs cook range. Quite ingenious really. He lived in it for the 20y I knew him. Shower was outside plumbed to hot water. Most materials were recycled. He was a crackerjack roofer. Nov10 2019

    This is one of those exceptions where I like the exterior better. It's beautiful and whimsical. Inside is a bit stark compared to other vardos I've seen.

    Hi there, Mr. Zyl, This is Chaula Trivedi, an architect from India. I have completed Masters in Sustainable Architecture recently. The interesting fact is while I was looking for a thesis project online, I bumped into the TINY HOUSE MOVEMENT. And obviously bumped into the youtube video of yours The Fortune Cookie. Well I think becoming an architect who implements sustainability principles is the best option. Zyl, people hardly have money to spend on their dream house. In that situation if I ask them to install a solar panel they will never agree. Rather if I design a small comfy home for 4 for the client in the city, they will be much happier and satisfied with the home. I think Architecture is the only CREATIVE ART WHICH HAS A STORY TO TELL AFTER THE PEOPLE GE5 TO RESIDE IN IT. I WANT IT TO BE A GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR A LIFETIME HENCE I WANT TO LEARN EACH ABD EVERYTHING ABOUT TINY HOUSES. THANKS AND REGADS, AR. CHAULA.

    Your head must be full of wonderful creations waiting to come to life. So far the Damselfly is my favorite but I love the creative woodworking in all I've seen. The only issue I would have is with the semi transparent bathroom doors.

    • @ZylTinyHomes
      @ZylTinyHomes  Před 4 lety +2

      You can see absolutely nothing through the heavily frosted door... however, it is usually not an issue with folks who live in such close quarters. You just get a little more laid back about 'potty stuff'. Haha.

  • @claztube
    @claztube Před 4 lety +1

    Zyl V, (if I may be so informal here)
    ZV let me say I appreciate your manner of showing the home as if I was operating the camera and how little you would place yourself in the view. Also your ability to understand that opening every cabinet or cupboard and drawer is overkill for the majority of us know what is the function and the general manner in how they operate using hinges and slide mechanisms. I was thinking prior to your turning the valve on the sink, "is the cookie on shore water?" Still you decided to not turn the shower on and that was probably best. Nice design inside and out though my discomfort in tight spaces would not allow me to be sleeping above. (that'd be storage or guest berth)

    It is so relaxing watching your videos. You have elfin in you with Italian? This shape is really unique. Great choice. Very soothing. I like your rounded window(s), sound structure. What patience you possess. All from drawing (s), shop work. In Canada our summer's are too short and thank God for a long autumn so you can live in the great outdoors (nature) and be one with tiny houses like this with a small fireplace is a necessity here. Congrats.

  • @ViroVV
    @ViroVV Před 5 lety +1

    Aesthetically it is beautiful. What I fail to understand is why anyone would pay this much for so little when they could just as easily buy a camper for a fraction of the price and not feel like they are sleeping in a coffin.

    • @ZylTinyHomes
      @ZylTinyHomes  Před 4 lety +1

      Campers are indeed less money. But they are not usually designed to function year round, especially in a cold climate. Also, campers quickly deteriorate under full time living. The tiny house is built to last, and be easily maintained. I engineer them to last 50 years or more. Which is better than a lot of residential houses these days!
