Nah bro, I'm not a really a zhongli fan but I do know that he and Guizhong aren't lovers but more of like a confidant and a very precious friends he could rely on.

Just a hunch cuz now that Guizhong's appearance is revealed and immediately give me the impression of Lumine, the more I look at Zhongli makes me think of Aether (Some elements of their designs looks so similar, mainly hair and clothing, and that "Zhongli is a decendant" theory slowly convincing me). Tho with the fandom addressing them as "lovers", revealing that might make things awkward but atleast like Kaeluc they aren't related...

I mean Venti did say (on CN) that Zhongli didn't/doesn't really understand human emotion so that could have been a reason why he seemed so emotionless, until he lost someone close to himself.

Definitely. I really feel that when Guizhong died is when Zhongli realized/fully comprehended his position as a ruler. I feel like he was always more of the brawns, so he probably relied heavily on Guizhong to do a lot of communication between them and humans and when she died he had to take on that role.
I think blockhead still works though as it can be used to refer to someone that people have a hwrd time getting through to, kinda equivalent to being called "hard-headed". With the context of Zhongli's character the term still quite fits him as its easy to tell Venti means he's a blockhead when it comes to humans.
This is maybe just a pure coincidence but there is something about mask in sumeru desert lores too. And not to mention that there are traces that look like kinda similar to zhongli powers too in underground desert parts.

Apparently zhongli is one of the descenders (i forgot what its called but its basically what aether and lumine are) since his voicelines apperently dont change about rukladehvata but idk
That was his character story, and it was an oversight. Got fixed in later updates.

The altered version changes "only two of the first Seven remained" to "only two of the first Seven remained *in positions of rulership* ", which is correct, since Nahida's 500-year-long imprisonment did take her out of the picture, and the new version suggests there are also some of the OG Seven left that are being prevented from fulfilling their duty as rulers. There's nothing suggesting Zhongli remembers Rukkhadevata anymore.
@@sbsbsb6057 but a) Venti isn't exactly known for actually ruling over anyone or anything, but more importantly b) how would Zhongli know about Nahida's imprisonment? He should have no reason to think that she isn't in the rulership position anymore

There are so many things the three first archons are hiding from us. For Zhongli, one he actually told us: What he traded his gnosis for. He said he couldn’t tell us, but he did say he traded it.

All the archons are hiding something, he isn’t special. He isn’t somebody who lies or is manipulative or anything, he follows contracts and so must withhold information. He faked his death because he had enough, he was tired of being an archon.
I thought in Rex Incognito, he made up some stories for a product (jade?) to increase it's value as items with history are valuable. Then years later, he was wandering around and there's a merchant selling the wares, saying it's authentic and such. Zhongli bought it as he finds it interesting but calls the product "fake" much to the merchant's exasperation. Later, he said he knows it's fake because he's the one who made up the story in the first place

Some info....
1. They are not lovers... Welp they were heavily implied once in the beta but not anymore (Customs of Liyue Glaze lily). They are best friends (as the books foretold)
2. Dust is often mentioned a lot in Zhongli's lore. CN community thought it was referencing to Guizhong. Dust is mostly thought it was literally "dust" like crushed stones but it prolly refers to "creation" where everything started at dust and shall return to dust.
3. Guizhong was speculated to be a Seelie because her ties with "creation" and her clothes. Some have extreme theory is that guizhong might be a God-King similar to the Three Magi of Sumeru, God of Remuria, and possibly Zhongli as well.
4. Zhongli killed Guizhong for unknown reason... One of the famous theory is that she was corrupted by Art of Khemia (forbidden knowledge) and others believed she betrayed zhongli likely to do with one god only per Archon seat
Maybe it is to hide his pain, since he never comprehend expression henceforth the stone cold expression during the archon war, but after guizhong maybe his feelings are intertwined, grief, anger, regret and ect

Also, a theory from wei. Zhongli chould not be from teyvat, he chould be active when teyvat was getting created by the primordial. He chould be one of the 7 sovereigns elementel dragons. When you did or didn't do the Zhongli story quest, the constellation is diffrent from others, because the other archons constellation is the same constellation that they use in they're story quests name. Theres a meaning of his real constellation which you will find out in wei's Zhongli theory. That also matches that he's over 6000 thousand years old.
