I'm thrilled to announce that due to the overwhelming response to this video on pinched harmonics, I'll be hosting a live stream. Join me on Thursday, July 11th, 2024, at 9:00am Pacific Time for an interactive lesson on pinched harmonics. 🔔🔔🔔 Set your reminders and see you there! czcams.com/users/livemK1ru4LjGtc 🔔🔔🔔
Finally! A tutorial that actually clearly shows how to do it. Everywhere I look they just do it with a camera angle that shows me nothing and then I somehow have to still figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thank you so much for this
I totally understand. If you film it from the front you're missing the most important part as the thumb is blocking the view. Great that this video helped you out!
This angle is killer
For real. The rest are dog shit. This guy is great. 👍
@@Yourguitarworkshop I'm a 12 yo who plays the guitar a lot and I know a lot of things cause I've played for three years and in those 3 years I could never find how to do harmonic, thanks a lot
There’s a million guides on how to do anything and only a handful of those million are actually useful
I did it once by accident years ago and never figured out how it happened. Thanks for explaining! Now to practice
Literally the same scenario for me. Did it by accident, recognised it’s from the famous comfortably numb solo and ever since them I’ve tried to figure out what it is
@@zzodysseuszz literally the same thing, tryna learn it for the pulse version
For years? Just how? I've never picked a guitar in my life and when i did learn it for 2 weeks i did pinch harmonics
IKR
@@HeavyshitplayedalldayWhat? You want a sticker?
After being playing for over 10 years FINALLY I found a video that explains the DEFINITIVE method to do it without failing 50% times THANKS a lot
Makes me super happy this video helped you finally nail this technique :-)
uh yeah sure you don’t fail 50% of the time… you fail 100%
HOLY SH*T THIS IS THE BEST PINCH HARMONIC TUTORIAL ON THE INTERNET!!!!! honestly the whole "push down and let the string bounce back" part made so much more since than trying to figure out how to dig into the string so my thumb hits it. thank you so much!!!!!!!
great that the video helped so much :-)
@@Yourguitarworkshop method worked here too. Cheers bud!
I am low key hyped to try this out rn
I’ve been looking for a long time trying to find a well explained/shown example of pinch harmonics since I’ve wanted to learn Rebel Yell
and it only took you 2 minutes out of your day :-)
no
I've seen several videos about this and even then, I've never quite understood how to produce this effect correctly. In just 2 minutes, with a perfectly well-positioned camera and an objective explanation, I was able to understand. Thanks!!
Awesome that this tutorial helped you understand the technique better!
I’m 64 years old and now I can check this off the list. It’s like tapping in the 80’s. You can’t help but do it. Thank you for a great tutorial 👍
Thanks! Just wanted to let you know your video is still helping people. Once you find it, it just clicks.
Now, I get to be the guy everyone says "He must have just learned pinch harmonics. That's all he does."
Haha, you can never overdo pinch harmonics ;-)
@@Yourguitarworkshop Amen to that! Lol awesome video. Thanks
I still don't understand wtf
righttt i don't get how it all clicked for all these other people in comments
I also didn't understand for a very long time, but like 2 days ago I was practing a song and for some reason I finally could do it everytime like it was magic... Fr I've been trying to learn pinch harmonics for more than a year by now, but I could never do it properly and with consistency, but now i can do it like 8/10 times I try to do it (At least in the lower 3 strings). I'm gonna leave my tips here so maybe it helps you (not saying is right or correct, but its what is working for me, and I'm a completely begginer on guitar)
- The touch of your finger on the picked string that they say its gotta be super slight, doesn't need to be as slight as you think, sometimes I just put too weight in my hand to touch the string, and still I get the P.H, so don't be afraid to touch the string (but this really is the neat part)
- When I pick the string I kinda twist my pulse from up to down and from right to the left at the same time (this is the movement that makes my finger touch the string)
- Try not to rest your finger on the string after you picked, this will kill the vibration and the harmonic. Take your right hand away from the strings and control the P.H bending the picked string
- The first time I had the feeling on how to do it I was with an overdrive pedal and a distortion pedal in max distortion possible, giving me huge gain, so this helped the P.H to come out easily, so you should crank that gain and distortion up to make it easier to feel when it's coming and what movement you did that made it come out.
- My impression it's that is more about a feeling on doing it, I can't explain... I've been watching tutorial and practicing for months, maybe more than a year and I could never do it... But out of nowhere 2 days ago I realize the feeling of the technique and suddenly I'm doing it. It's CRAZY!
Hope this can help you in some way, don't give up, P.H are so satisfying to land...
@@guilhermearaujo4414 Like 31 days ago I did it accidentally, so I don't need help anymore but thanks for the advice
Lol
gonna try this on acoustic, heard its very hard, maybe i just try for practice right now, prob cant do it
Short, direct, objetive, simple... The best video I've found on this topic so far.
WOW i tried to learn it for a month and after a 2 MINUTE VIDEO i did pinch harmonics immediately, its a real blessing

Omg you sir deserve the greatest of recognition. I literally learned it in 10 seconds, after trying countless other videos
THANK YOU SO MUCH AT LAST I FOUND THIS! I'M SO TIRED OF ASKING MY FRIENDS "HOW DO YOU DO THAT EENGGGGGGG!!! HIGH PITCH SOUND?" THEY JUST DON'T GET ME 😂😂
Thank you so much for this video, I’ve been struggling for so long trying to find a solid video for this technique and with this video I got it almost immediately
Holy cow, I've been trying to learn this for about 6 months and no luck, I was finally able to learn it with this video, you're the best!
You’re a saint! I watched countless tutorials and wasn’t able to get it. Watched yours once and I got it really clearly! Thank you so much fam
Wtf. Been trying and finally a 1 min explanation That hit home. Thank you
Wow! Thank you so much for this straightforward video! I searched for other youtube vids before about pinch harmonic but you sir just explained it very well. Gave you a sub :D
Deserved new sub my good sir. Back when I started learning guitar like a decade ago I wish I had a video like this to explain me how to pull pinch harmonics, instead it took me like a month to figure it out due to tutorials not being as clear as this one. Came to the video out of pure curiosity and it about sums up the tech as much as it can so definitely staying :D
Dear instructor. Thanks . With your undeniable knowledge and capability in tutoring music and guitar.
Good luck.
Awesome video. Thank you for taking the time to explain the technique and do an awesome job with the camera angle.
Best (and clearest) vid explaining this I've seen. Thanks.
Quick, straight forward, and easy tutorial. Thank you for this, 4 years later!
Definitely the best tutorial for pinch harmonics, thank you!
This video is the best! Many videos later, I finally had gotten the sound. Thanks for explaining so well! Subscribed!
I can finally play the comfortably numb solo. Thank you so much!
This is amazing!! I looked at so many tutorials and couldn't figure it out but I could do it 50% of the time after this video with just 10 minutes of practice.
Thanks for the close camera shots.
I'm a visual learner so this really helped
I needed this for so long, thank you very much 🙏
Useful video man
wow dude ty so much. ive been searching for a video that didnt give the players life story and how they got harmonics figured out or have them ramble on to reach the 10 minute mark. i got a good understanding from just looking at your thumb position because i can ACTUALLY see it. ty so much
I too watched several other videos and still couldn't do it. That key detail about the 'bounce back' doing the work for you finally made me get it. As others have said, very well done tutorial, thank you!
Nice one bud, great vid.
This helped a lot!!! Thanks!
Serious Video! It helped me a lot!
Perfect!!!!! Thank you ❤🎉
This just magically works for me. Thanks for the video.
Straight to the point, awesome! Thank you for the video.
Great video! I was actually able to do it and the camera angle really helped
Very well explained. Can see it really clear. Thanks from Spain!
Bro, I'm so excited to try this!
Thank you for a clear and right to the point tutorial, Much appriciated. Earned yourself a sub!
Wow. This is the best video on explaining pinch harmonics, thank you!
I asked a question on a different account like two days ago and since then I've been able to do pinch harmonics thank you
cant wait to try this later today!
Thank you so much for such a good detailed explanation on how to do a pinched harmonic, I've been practicing alot and got it my accident a few times. Now I have the proper video on how to do it, thank you so much again.
i dont usually comment under youtube videos but guys i promise this is the best tutorial ive seen on youtube. i made it in like 1 min you definilty have to watch it without hesitation
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen on this. The trick is really to push into the string and catch it with the thumb rather than ”grace it” as people tend to say. Great video!
thanks so much!
Thanx! Great view, great explanation, short & to the point. Kudos, sir.
Glad it was helpful!
Super awesome video! I’ve watched a ton of videos trying to learn pinch harmonics but this was the only one that taught me and it took less than two minutes!

Clearly an outstanding tutorial for pinch harmonics..and he doesn’t annoyingly ramble on and on before getting to the point…I need to check out the rest of his videos and subscribe..( I don’t subscribe to a lot of channels unless they deserve it and he does!)..Thanks for the great video!
Appreciate the to-the-point attitude here. Great job.

thankss very helpful =)
Thanks a lot!!!
Best tutorial so far!
Best video on this topic
You're a gentleman and a rock-scholar 🤘🤩🤘
Thank you for this great tutorial! I got it after a few minutes of practise
This is so hard and frustrating and probably really easy once youve got it down. im holding the pick correctly and hitting the string with my pick and then thumb but no squeals yet. im gonna keep trying.
High gain and contour might help
Finally a tutorial that not only shows how to do it but shows up close 'why' it makes that sound.
