It can be hard to tell from her videos because her talk is very unfocused and she keeps the camera on herself the whole time. I came to the comments to see this list of 11 because honestly there was only 2 I could pick up on and remember from the video (a pair of jeans and a suit). A pair of jeans and a suit isn't helpful of course - every man already has those.

Hi Courtney, I've been watching your content for just over 2 years now. I'm 21 and went out on my first date the other day and it went amazingly! With a developed mindset, training and studying hard, putting effort in my clothing and skincare, i felt i was putting my best foot forward going into the date. Eye contact and gestures were spot on and i overall just felt confident and the girl reciprocated me really well. We're setting up a second date this weekend coming, just wanted to thank you so much for helping me get to this point, you're helping so many people and i appreciate you so much😊🙏

"Training and studying". It should not be that hard. Woke feminism has obliterated what used to be wholesome and innocent.
I take care of myself, have my life in order, have money, accomplishments and goals, have the respect of many, have loyal friends.
I do not need to "earn" anything else. If a woman does not see value in me, then I do not see her at all.

Big fan of a quarter zip. Any plain dark colour goes well formally or more casually and is great for layering

    • @brianthesnail3815
      @brianthesnail3815 Před měsícem

Agreed. I am 60 and people don't normally wear suits to work now but I wear really high quality chinos, good quality shirt (button down or stiff collar) and a quarter zip in blue, charcoal, light blue, tan or a muted mass green. Then brown brogues. I occasionally wear a suit with black Oxford shoes, stiff collar shirt. I always wear white, blue, pink in plain, pinstripe or very small check. Basic colours that go with anything.
My young adult son wears exactly the same thing to an international law firm in London. It's basically standard business wardrobe in law firms and investment banks where a slight formality and client meetings are normal.
As outerwear I wear a quilted jacket or a long mac/trench coat in a dark colour blue/grey/black.
I strongly recommend this to any man as a safe but not stuffy basic wardrobe. The only thing I would add is a formal dinner suit.

Glad to have some of my choices validated and confirmed by this list. Got a little over half the items mentioned in some shape or form. My fashion is more military and outdoor inspired, with a huge focus on functionality over anything else, so getting the finer things down right has been the latest push. Got the bomber and boots down to a tee, but an Oxford and dress items are next. Low key on a mission to set up a Tweed suit as well lol.
A few pointers I’ve gathered for the guys looking for hyper functionality out of a presentable look:
-Wrangler flex jeans are your friend if you have bigger legs. You lose nothing in mobility or comfort, and you still retain the classic denim look. Great for if you suddenly need to spring into action, or more realistically, do some sudden labor that requires functionality over look. Also super cheap and easy to replace off Amazon.
-Birchberry Bronston dress shoes. 100% has the look of a conventional leather dress shoe, but features a wide toe box for comfort, waterproof pleather that doesn’t retain a ton of heat, and shock cord laces that allow quick donning while staying nice and snug. “Barefoot” -like fit, with a low toe drop for all day comfort. This gives you a good looking shoe that only the snobbiest critic will be able to notice that is easy to wear, comfy, and you can still work, be in the elements, and even sprint effectively in. 10/10 shoe.
-Core leather gun belt in the same color as the shoes with silver color false buckle. Another item that masks as fancy really well, and ups a more formal look, but acts as a hyper functional item. The ratchet fastener makes pants adjustment super quick and easy for donning and doffing, or adjusting for a full belly or adding on a handgun inside the belt line. Holds its shape well due to the plastic liner inside, and holds up the weight of a full size handgun without sagging. Again, a super comfy item that looks like something dressy that can be taken to the apocalypse with the rest of the fit. The buckle comes off as well, allowing you to change from brown to black to fit the outfit properly, or change fabric completely.
Finally, more just a clothing tip in general, especially base layers: cotton kills. Wear poly and or Marino wool if you can, when you can. It’s better for sweat and pit stains, breathability and heat regulation, and especially freezing temperatures, since that moisture freezes. Cotton underwear, shirts, and socks are for lounging around the house after a shower. I’m a firm believer they’re not for outside the home.
Let me know what you guys think

For the Oxford shirt, I would go classic button down as Courtney says, one white, one blue. I personally would go with a blend or a wrinkle free cotton so you don't have to iron it all the time. Pinstripes are a good classic option as well. My 2 cents.

A very important point about footwear is getting some kit to maintain them. Even the nicest shoes or boots don't look that great if they are all beat up. There are some cheap options on amazon and whatnot, but at least having a brush to clean them as well as some dye to recolor nicks and bruises on leather shoes will go a long way to make them last a long time. Add to that some oil and you will be set to always look your best.

If you are in a city with an Indochino outlet (like Seattle) you can go in there and they will give you all your suit measurements for your reference. Very helpful. You don't have to spend a lot. I find suits and jackets in good condition at thrift stores and take them to get tailored and spend a fraction of the price of a new one. For shirts, I really like Van Heusen at Kohl's because they size their dress shirts by body shape, neck measurement, and sleeve length - not just small, medium, and large. It makes for much better fitting shirts when you figure out which sizes/shapes best fit your body. But for bold colors and patterns I'm a huge fan of the Visconti Black line at Dillard's. I get a LOT of compliments with those! For ties, the last few years I've become a collector of Jerry Garcia's ties. They are just gorgeous ties that will also draw compliments.

Hi! My personal favorite for every season, a casual lower formal, you could say, outfit is my very light denim shirt, black Levi's, black boots, with my Devil Diver watch and speedometer bracelet to match on the other wrist. Sometimes I'll wear my rings too.
My go-to business casual is a light grey shirt, rolled up sleeves, charcoal pants, and dress socks for that added pop of color (lemons!)
My favorite bad boy outfit in cool weather is either a burgundy or black T, black jeans, brown Levi's trucker jacket, boots, and of course a watch.
Summer: linen pants and nice printed Hawaiian shirts. Not the boring ones, the ones that actually look good from Banana Republic, sunglasses, watches, rings. Maybe a cigar later on too 😁
Winter: a nice sweater, navy wool long coat, boots, darker pants to compliment the sweater, watch of course.
I prefer boots over everything because they give off that rugged tough guy look, and I'll even have then unlaced to have it look very casual. I'll only wear crocs or Sneakers if I am working out, or I am at kickboxing or whatever active where I need them.

    #12 - a stapler 😁
I'm a big fan of olive and tan suits, both in wool or cotton poplin. They shouldn't be your first suit, though, or even your second. I would say get charcoal and navy first, then if you need or want a third get olive - tan is only for the nice weather even if it's serge. Olive or tan looks great with a pink Oxford shirt, a tie with prominent navy or pastel blue, and matching walnut or cordovan belt and shoes.
Finally, not all suits of the same color will match your skin tone. Tan suits in particular can make you look like a millionaire or an anemia patient. This is where a disinterested second opinion can come in handy.

Courtney, I really would appreciate your opinion. I love selvedge denim. What is your opinion on indigo stains on white t-shirts and white sneakers? And when is a raw denim too much worn in to be worn in the office with a button up shirt? I tend to use the newer dark indigo denim first in the office and when you see more patina only casual rugged style. But never be sure when to switch. Love your videos. Greetings from Germany.

Love the recommendations. I’d love to see a video on clothing options for hot weather climates, 90 degrees +. Outside of a repetitive solid shorts, tee shirt, sneaker outfit I’m lost.

I would suggest heather grey undershirts over white because they blend in with the dress shirt. White would show an outline underneath.

Denim. Hard to find some that fit nicely when you workout. My go-to is Tommy Jeans straight cut.

    Naked and Famous (Japan)
    Indigofera
    Baldwin
    Raleigh (USA)
    Pure Blue Japan (Japan)
    Rogue Territory (USA)
    Rail Car (USA)
All great raw, selvedge denim with various cuts from various companies at various price points! I personally have pairs from N&F and Baldwin. They have lasted me years. With repair after repair they show tons of character and have transferred to the more casual outfits. Always have a fresh, solid dark denim pair. You only need 2-3 at max if you do this properly (depending on their condition and stage of life) and take care of them.

@@alidabbagh5540 Yea. They have "tapered," which is a full/ normal seat and straight cut down to the thigh and then tapers down at the calf. Each company may call it different, but you just gotta read their cuts.

My favourite brand of watch is Fossil. They have a really nice style and are pretty affordable. I have three and all of them get compliments. But Courtney is right, regardless of the brand I think a nice watch is a really great accessory for a man

Hey Courtney I wanted your input here: I live in TX and as much as I love the idea of a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers, I also think a pair of lug sole derby’s might make more sense. I just want to have a pair of shoes that make my outfits look more sophisticated. I’m a college student and I’m always either at the cafe studying or outside taking walks and occasionally camping and shooting my guns at the national parks. What shoes do you think would make sense for me?

Great video. I like to dress for the occasion so I wear a variety of clothing not one thing or style every single day, mostly how I feel. I’m also a sneakerhead (it’s a way I express myself). As someone who has been in the military almost 20 years if it feels like a uniform I’m more than likely not going to wear it in my spare time.

Ok, google is getting a bit too personal. I had an upcoming first date that I was talking to my buddies about and sure enough a first date mistakes video from Courtney shows up. Thanks for putting this list together. I noticed this in one of your other videos, but I think when you say Oxford Buttondown, and this is just semantics, but I think you're referring to an OCBd (Oxford Cloth Buttondown), Oxford Cloth describing the fabric, and the Buttondown referring to the collar type.
