  • As far as I can tell, the Kreg Foreman is the cheapest pocket hole machine on the market, but also the most expensive pocket hole jig available at big box stores and your local hardware store. I bought one for my small custom cabinet shop to help increase efficiency and productivity, and so far I like it.

When that “upgrade to an industrial machine” day comes along…. the Maksiwa PHM.30 has me (non-commercial hobbyist making for myself only) dreaming up b.s. projects to try to justify buying. Seriously drool worthy, imo

5:55 The issues you pointed out are the primary reason I sold mine as soon as my old DB110 machine was fixed. I drill wayyyy to many pocket holes to be dealing with things coming loose and constantly breaking bits. Great video.

Now that I’ve had this machine a few months, these little annoyances are starting to become more frustrating. Still better than the mini clamp-on jig, but definitely better options out there

@@SpottedTongueWoodworking Try and find yourself a DB110. It's a wonderful machine that they never should have discontinued.

For 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch wood, nothing beats the castle lo angle pocket hole machine. However for 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch wood... Nothing beats the kreg

That’s interesting- I’ve never used a castle machine, but I feel like the Kreg does well with drilling into plywood but struggles with any sort of hardwood

Is that still true if you use the Foreman Micro-pocket drill bit and guide for 1/2" to 1" boards?

I wasn’t aware there was a Micro-pocket hole drill bit option. I know there’s an XL option for larger projects that can be installed in the Foreman (I think), but I have no idea how either alternative changes how the foreman works

@@SpottedTongueWoodworking The XL bit might be similar to the large bit in the Foreman but it is not considered a replacement bit for the Foreman. The XL bit will fit the Kreg Pocket-Hole Jig XL and the Kreg Jig HD.

If only they put a spring on the clamping shoe all would be good
