I Built ANOTHER Workbench... Using a CNC

My V1 Budget Build Workbench (czcams.com/video/KXJ_HEkCVZs/video.htmlsi=rRyhlhArgCCZZOf-) was pretty cool and is extremely functional for what it is. What if... I built another workbench that costs just a little more, but with other design limitations? This bench was made from 2 sheets of 1/2 4x8 plywood cut into 2 4x4 and 3 4x32 sections to fit onto my Shapeoko 5 Pro CNC. Design inspired by th...
Is Sherwin Williams New "Gallery" Paint Any Good?
zhlédnutí 2,4KPřed 5 měsíci
Growing up, Sherwin Williams was the end-all, be-all standard of high quality paints. It wasn't until I took a deep dive into cabinet painting and finishes that I was told otherwise. But then, "Gallery" was announced and the cabinet finishing/refinishing world just about exploded from the controversy. Just kidding. But not really. The big question is- is "Gallery" any good?
Is this the Ultimate $50 Workbench, or a Waste of Time?
zhlédnutí 3KPřed 5 měsíci
Is this the ultimate job site workbench? Heavily inspired by the Ron Paulk jobsite workbench and the Popular Woodworking Maker Workbench, this bench is cheap and easy to make, as well as sturdy, lightweight, and easily disassembled to be portable from the shop to the jobsite. Using just 3 sheets of 7/16 OSB, 2-3 2x4s, and some wood glue, nails, and screws, this budget build really packs a funct...

Loool I'm pretty sure I just saw you yesterday UpNorth. You make CZcams videos!!
Idk if that was me- I was in my shop all day yesterday, south-central PA
How has it worked out so far? I’ve seen like two other brands that look identical to that one and I’m just wondering how is it working so far
Surprisingly well. Every time I change the filters I’m amazed how much dust it collects. We’re a about 18 months in and it’s still going strong. Biggest complaint is the remote- it’s a little finicky to get pointed directly at the unit to turn on and off
Thank you!
Hope it helps!
I'm about to do the same project. You've done a great job, of course it's fine woodworking. Any tool that does the job you need it to has a place. I'm going to paint the outer frame a solid colour as the original varnish is in poor condition and the shelves are likely to be cherry or yew so getting a colour/stain match feels like an impossibility. Hopefully the contrast will work. Thank you for the ideas in this video regarding the shaping and fixing of the shelves. That radial arm dado stack looks like something from robocop!
Thanks! Make sure you use a stain-blocking primer to keep that color from bleeding through- I’ve been seeing a lot more wood/paint contrast out there, so I think you’re on to something! Good luck!
That is stunning
Thank you!
Really glad you did the update. I got mine late last week. Picked it up from Sherwin Williams while away from home. I got sick on my way home. The next day I played with it for 30 minutes maybe (mostly cleaning lol). But I LOVED it!!!! I mean… it is so good. But I haven’t been able to get out in the shop and use it again. I got it to replace my VERY finicky HVLP gun. When I saw the first video I was worried. But also didn’t think mine leaked at all. But … I probably never should have been out there painting to begin with . LOL. Glad you got a replacement and are happy with it. Love hearing that from someone that’s had a lot more experience with spraying.
Switching from HVLP to airless is a night day difference. I was always adjusting the HVLP to get it to spray right. Airless is just point and shoot, and the FFLP tips give an equivalent finish! Just get used to cleaning the quickshot. It’s a little more delicate than a standard airless, but as long as you keep flushing it with mineral spirits after each use you’ll be golden- enjoy!!
Honestly, I watch both of your videos and I still if don't understand if I should buy the gun. I want the gun for the exact same reason that you mentioned on the first video. So do you recommend a yes or no? I want to paint small furniture, small projects furniture and projects.
If you have the money to spend, it’s a neat little gun. I don’t think it’s worth the full price, but it is periodically on sale at Sherwin Williams. Now that we’re almost a year past these original videos, here’s my long-term take: it’s super convenient to be able to easily spray small jobs and switch between primer/paint/clear. I love the short hose not being in the way/getting tangled and not wasting a lot of product every time I clean it. I love being able to spray different parts of projects in a variety of places without worrying about plugs/cords (ie inside and outside). I don’t like how hard it is to keep clean- you have to keep up with cleaning l/flushing the machine out or it will give you problems. You can’t drop the gun head in a bucket of water like a standard airless gun because of the electronics, so it is harder to keep from clogging between coats or if you get distracted. The projects I have been doing are getting bigger and bigger, so the sprayer is getting pushed to its limits. I maybe should have gotten the GX19 for my shop, but this is the perfect unit for smaller furniture and small projects
I might try this out. Are you thinning it at all and what tips are you using?
No need to thin- 308 fflp and it lays down like glass!
Just got mine yesterday. I got a bunch of fascia and crown to run in a kitchen. I have the 18v version as well but as mentioned I only go up to 1 1/2 nails with it. Anything longer and I go up to 16ga to avoid shiners
Was just using it yesterday for a short run of crown molding- the size is super convenient for working on a ladder or platform
Mine works awesome You have no clue
It’s water Shouldn’t be using a wrench on your tip guard Maybe try a 4’ pipe wrench 😂 No clue Try paint
Please tell me more.
Wtf..I am watching to see how the slide from which the table is pulled out and then expanded is made...but it was not shown...the important part is not in the video...damn my luck
Equalizer slides from Osborne Wood Products.
we use it and love it. I was at the demos for the product before its release and we were spraying directly on unprimed pine 2x4s and primed baseboard trim. We used keys to try to scratch it a half hour after application and the 2x4 just created divets, but the gallery series didn't scratch.
I’ve been using Gallery for all of my cabinet projects since it came out and the more I use it the more I like it. Very nice product that is easy to use.
If you already have the M18FN15GA would it be better to get the M18FN18GA or this? I’m looking to do interior trim work and cabinetry.
I think there’s a lot of personal preference when it comes to what nail guns each person uses. I’ve been using the M18 16ga gun and the M12 23ga pin nailer for most of my trim work. I think the M12 18ga makes more sense to complement the M18 16 or 15ga than the M18 18ga does, primarily for the fact the M18 18ga is basically the same size as the 16ga or 15ga, whereas the M12 18ga is smaller and is easier to have along with another gun
Mine is doing the same thing first use out of the box 😑 Going to have to make some calls
That’s a bummer. When it works it works REALLY well. When it doesn’t, it’s frustrating because it’s a little more complicated than a standard sprayer
Excelente trabajo también estaba la obsion de una mesa muy original Felicidades
Thank you!
I have been a painter for 35 years, and let me tell you, painters can be very judgmental. You are absolutely correct; it should not leak at all for a brand-new sprayer. Thanks for the update and video. Great job!
For what purpose did you do this exactly?
I turned an old heirloom piano (unplayable) into a bookshelf- to keep the keys and to make enough space, I cut the keys right behind the pivot. Added springs to make the keys “playable” on the bookshelf. Full video is on my channel.
The best Sprayer ever but you can’t handle it
Will be the Perfect Jigsaw for me ! Awesome
It’s a good one!
Damn thanks, ordering the fuel one !
Definitely the fuel one over the brushed one, no question
This looks amazing
Thank you!
Thanks for helping me not to go for that cheaper one. Will buy the perfect one now
You’re welcome- good luck!
I don't think I've seen another miter saw that's lefty friendly.
There’s not many. I think the Festool Kapex has a similar setup. But, as a lefty who has been working in a right-handed world my whole life, I find a lot of left-hand specific tools are just weird to use
there is new version is still worth it ?
there’s an allen key under the storage, take it out then look by the vacuum attachment you’ll see the allen wrench in the saw 👍🏼
Funny story- I was just using it yesterday and the Allen key fell out. Definitely feel like a fool for that one 🤦♂️
Amazing transformation! Beautiful woodworking & craftsmanship!
Thank you!
What's the battary life with the battary in the video ???
It was either a 1.5 or 2.0 battery, I don’t remember, so not too long. The new 2.5 battery has the same size but significantly longer life.
How long did the skid floor hold up before collapsing? 😊
Still there, almost two years later
m12 installation driver needs an update.
It’s definitely getting old, especially compared to the drills and impacts that keen getting updated, but it is still a fantastic tool in its own right
That piece of plastic is priced so fkn ridiculous. The idea of it is great . Cleans fast , but why would anyone drop 1.300 on that when they could get a 395
Remember though. all fans make some noise the higher the speed
Version 2 meets my expectations for function, but i have a strange obsession with OSB, especially stained in a red or blue translucent stain. Well done!
The original jigsaw is an embarrassment from Milwaukee mine wiggles loose 9 times out of 10 its almost been thrown at the wall many time, glad to see the fuel im excited to pick one up
Right? I can’t believe they’ve kept it in the lineup all these years. The new fuel version is incredible. Probably my favorite jigsaw across both the m12 and m18 lineups
I've had the brushed m12 jigsaw for a week and I hate it. It wiggles loose so often for me too
For that price it's not worth it.
It’s not cheap. It goes on sale a lot at Sherwin Williams- definitely not a unit I would have bought for DIY, but so far has been very useful and profitable for my business once I got the kinks worked out
@@SpottedTongueWoodworking how low have you seen it go on sale
@dazquez it seems like it often goes down to $1200 at Sherwin Williams
The idea of the VFD spindle kit in general is great but I have heard negative reviews about the one they offer as upgrade. Not sure if it's with the spindle or VFD but have you had any issues with it months later?
I have had no problems with the VFD spindle kit- I’m not running it day in and day out, but I’ve done some pretty big projects with it that the trim router would not have been able to handle. It’s so much quieter/smoother/more powerful than the trim router. I only wish there was an 85mm option that could handle 1/2 router bits!
Very informative video. Well done! I know this is a year old, but thought I would ask a question anyway. After the first run through and when you sticker and stack them, should I stack them in my house where the wood will be used? I fear the humidity in my uninsulated garage is considerably different than in my house. Thanks.
That’s a really good question. I don’t think so. The two-part milling process is more about releasing tension in the wood, not so much about releasing/acclimating moisture levels. If the wood is kiln dried, it takes truly seasonal differences in humidity to be affected. So, you’ll be looking at a couple months of acclimation that will be undone when you bring the project back out to your garage. As long as you follow best-practices in building to account for and minimize wood movement, you shouldn’t have any issues. It also depends on the wood itself. Some types/cuts of wood are more likely to warp or twist over time than others
Where are all the videos of those of us failing to get the impeller removed 😢. I know it isn’t just me because I have read about on different forums. All the videos I have watched make it look so easy. I swear you all fought to remove it gently reinstalled then edited in a new video of it coming off like butter. 😅
Mate... it's a PAINT sprayer not a water gun.
When that “upgrade to an industrial machine” day comes along…. the Maksiwa PHM.30 has me (non-commercial hobbyist making for myself only) dreaming up b.s. projects to try to justify buying. Seriously drool worthy, imo
Brush and roll is easy. If you have a decent amount of paint experience. Looks really good
my eyes bled wtf
Hey everyone, just a quick reminder about table saw safety from someone who's been around the block a few times. Even if you're experienced like me, never, ever put your hands between the blade and the fence when ripping boards. It's tempting, I know, but it's seriously risky. I learned this the hard way in 2012 when I had a bad accident. It took me two years, five surgeries, and over $300k in medical expenses and lost income to recover. Trust me, it's not worth it. Use push blocks and keep those hands clear of danger. Stay safe, folks. 🚫✋
👍
You don’t spray with water, never had one issue 100 jobs completed, it’s definitely not for big jobs, it’s all about convenience. Time cleaning sold me, it’s all ready paid for itself, I never had a leak something is definitely wrong with the gun seal, possibly metal bent. I’m definitely going to check in the morning see if mine actually leaks. I really don’t remember having any leaks.
Yea need Fuel line + high output battery
Oh most definitely- the new M12 fuel jigsaw is lightyears ahead of this POS
This looks awful
Never said it didn’t 🤫
Square has left the chat.
It’s about as square as any new construction home going up nowadays
Do you happen to have plans and material list?
Only what you see in the video- sorry I don’t have a better answer
She must have loved how beautifully you saved her childhood piano from the junk yard ! It holds a lot of memories ... so nice you could find a way of keeping it useful and making it a beautiful piece of furniture for her home. I L❤VE ... L❤VE ... L❤VE it ... and it wasn't even my childhood piano.
She did! It was definitely a very rewarding project for everyone involved
I would leave the soundboard, add some exciter speakers and a subwoofer, and have an amazing sound system.
Dude. How awesome would that be! I did build my first speaker this year… I’ll definitely keep this idea in mind!
