    That was pretty cool I must say and yes I have learned something that I'd much rather watch you guys do the work than have myself out there messing up an installation but you two make it look easy and The Lord knows it's not But Thank you for sharing Great Channel

    So how does the pump work in conjuction with the wndmill action (up and down)? Always wondered how a windmill operated...I love windmills andlighthouses. I was stationed at Ft. Sill twice while in the Army. Love your videos.I love inAttalla, Alabama now but grew up in San Antonio Texas.

      Howdy there! So the windmills pitman-arm generated up and down motion moves the sucker rod up and down. Inside the pump(well cylinder) is a traveling plunger with a valve on it. Also there is a valve at the bottom of the cylinder that opens and closes. As the plunger is lifted the 8” of travel, the upper valve is closed and sucks the water up that amount. When the windmill goes down, the lower valve closes and holds the water to where it was just lifted, and the cycle goes on and on! Thank you for watching us!!!!       @OkieWindmiller thank you, I enjoyed Oklahoma...there was a small restaurant North of Ft. SILL named Apache it was a tiny town but they had a small restaurant that had a hamburger as big as a plate that they cut it in fourths so you could eat I t and it was very inexpensive and boy was it good...delicious!!!

    In Australia we use solar system regulator to 24 volt and the pumps are same and we use a different system

    Shane, how do you keep the solar pump from overfilling the stock tank? I suppose the best way would be an overflow pipe going to a pond if one is nearby.

      Hey Lance! So yes, if the customer requests, we let it overflow, just as their windmill was. They had dug a trench to the pond for the water to meander down. We had originally planned on installing a float switch, but they decided to keep it as is. Thank you for watching!!!!

    Hopefully you don't get annoyed by me asking questions but going through and watching these videos I start seeing ways to do things but would rather ask about it. So since the windmill is sentimental would it have been or could have been an option to create a larger base to attach the original windmill to to extend high to possibly get it high enough to be functional again?? Or would that create stability issues? Also I imagine that with additional height it would need additional hardware to make it functional but if solar is a cheaper option or preferred by the customer. Again I'm definitely watching these videos but my curiosity just gets the best of me and if ya don't know the least that I can do is ask. Hahaha 😂😂 puddin's fab shop was right when he said that you were really a stand up guy. Thanks 👍🏻

      Man thank you and I love reaching what I know. You’re exactly right! We gave her that option, but the sentimental part was actually the tower, not the head. Her father built it, so she did t want it modified. Great question man!!!!!!

      Exactly! You could use a controller but don’t need to because the pump is its own controller!!! All we normally install is a plug so it can run off a generator and a disconnect box.

    How di you determine the tilt and azimuth of the solar panel?

      Howdy! I use a compass and in the northern hemisphere it points due south, and dependent on time of year, but I use a website sunsolarrilt.com. Plug in your zip and it gives you the year round and others! Thank you for watching!

    How do you keep the pipe from falling in during the install? Is is a tool? Is it super human strength?

      I would say 93% super human strength and 7% the pipe holder. It’s an amazing contraption that has a gravity clamp that closes when we let the pressure off

    why didnt you put in a water level control box that way the pump isnt pumping all the time?? the solar pumps i installed on my ranch i used 3 solar panels and a control box that has a lead going to the tank and it just drops off the fill pipe and shorts out to shut off pump. is that a bad system? whats your thoughts?

      Hey there! So this was the customers request to let it run from the tank to a pond. They had dug a trench to the pond. Your system is great, and we do sort of the same thing if they don’t want continuous flow. We use floating switches, but they are all good! Thank you for your comment!!!!!

      I didn’t answer all of you question. So this well has a very shallow static, so the 1 panel is more than enough. The panel is a 370W. It all depends on the static level and how big the pump is. This one is a 3 gpm to match the windmill output. This pump is also related from 100 to 400 watts, so I’m setting almost at the upper end.

      ​@@OkieWindmiller- I'm only as far as the unboxing of the pump, but that looks more like 4 ft than 3 ft... Did you recalculate or how did that all work out. I guess I'll see as I watch more

      @@OkieWindmiller - 26:56 a few moments later in the video you had the pump laid down at the end of the pipe. no mention of pump length, but you said you "did some thinkin" and decided to only cut off one foot to maximize the depth, and not have the pump motor don in the silt. FYI, just a youtube watcher ( 64 & retired) in the central part of NY state with no need for a well or a windmill ! Just found it interesting when I started watching recently !

      Man thank you for watching from NY! Yeah it’s hard to put all my thoughts into the video. So the goal is to get the pump as close to the bottom as possible without letting it contact the bottom on a marginal well such as this. If we knew it made a lot of water, we could leave it a little higher(5-10 feet above the bottom), but we didn’t know this well, and it was hand drilled, so we weren’t sure how good it would flow. I’m not very good at math and it shows when I’m laying out pipe and pumps and fittings, etc, and wanting to get it right on the 1st shot. 😀
