      Man thank you so much!!!!!! That is a worry of mine, but the boss lady agrees with you, scenery, different situations, etc will keep people wanting to watch. The initial question actually cane from a viewer who said the now that he has watched us several times, he has seen all he needs to know, so how do I keep him wanting to watch. Made me start wondering and questioning our ability to keep this going successfully. But, what you just said inspires me fully! Thank you so much again!

    I came from Puddin’s channel. My Dad was born and raised in Guymon, OK and Tribune, KS and I’ve visited to old farm place in Guymon a lot. Dad’s family always had a windmill and even a windelectric for battery power since the late 20’s. They bought generator and batteries and built their own tower and propellers for the generator drive. The family moved to Louisiana in 1948 and brought a windmill with them.

    I'm here because of Puddin'. I like the subject of your content. I like how you promote healthy choices in food. As for improvements on how to maintain the interest of viewers, I think I speak for the majority when I say to just be yourself. I think over time you will develop your on-camera character in such a way that it's addictive and you will get repeat viewers. I know one thing that will help is if you hit us with your knowledge about windmills as often as possible. The Bible says to "study to show thy self approved". I realize the in context it's speaking about studying the Bible but I think it parallels in our work and hobbies. Unload some knowledge and put us in our place because I guarantee you less than 1% off us know anything about windmills or the work involved in getting them going. I hope this helps. Take ease!

I was pointing out some abandoned windmills here in MI., and my Daughter was about 4yo, and I stopped at an old abandoned farm. After walking around the windmill checking it out, I asked my Daughter if she new what it was? She thought about it for a moment and replied “it’s a cow fan. There was probably a dempster dealer or sales rep in the area but anyhow as far as rhe straw on the bottom of the pump you could have put the pump even closer to the surface if you wanted to because the pumps can typically pull or suck water up 25 ft however it is best to have the pump lift the water rather than draw it. And i dont think i explained it any better than you did but i was trying to help explain the straw under the pump

      @OkieWindmiller  Před měsícem

      Yep, waaaay back in the day, Cook Supply in Oklahoma City was a big dealer of many brand of windmills. They went out of business many years ago, but they have a lot of windmills all over this state! Correct, I didn’t even need to do what I did but wasn’t sure of the wells production. If I’m putting pipe in a well that we know produces good, I will set the pump at the next joint under the water, but since I didn’t know how well this well would flow, I went ahead and set it down a little more. I just had that little stick of pipe in the truck and threw it on to give it another 6 feet of water. Thank you for watching!!!!!!!!!!!

As for windmills in my neck of the woods there is some here in Illinois but they are much more prevalent in Wisconsin. Good video - and no dangerous distractions! Please elaborate on the purpose of the 5 ft tailpipe (11:00 in). You said it gets us closer to the bottom for extra water, but I don't know what that means. I can visualize it helping to keep debris from entering the intake, but you didn't say that, and it wouldn't increase water flow. (Speaking of intake screens, I haven't seen you install or discuss one yet. Is the water contained in an underground void (like a lake)? What sort of solids might you encounter at that depth? Is the water really clean and safe to drink? Thank you for helping us better understand what you do!

    • @OkieWindmiller
      @OkieWindmiller  Před měsícem +1

      Thank you!!! So we set the pump at 3 sticks of pipe, 4 would have been too much, so we could have left the bottom and f the pump open, or, if you want to cut a piece of pipe to get the suction closer to the bottom, you can, but somebody has to pay for that. So, I had a piece of pipe roughly 7’ long, so I put it on there for free, just to give him an extra 7’ of water beyond what we would normally do. It didn’t need it and most people wouldn’t have wasted their time. I’m don’t use intake screens because the wells are clean and I’m not worried about anything clogging the pump up.
      The water is in the well casing, which is drilled into sand/sandston that bears water within it freely. That water fills the casing and that’s what we pump from.
      Thank you for watching and sticking around!!!!!!!😀

      @@OkieWindmiller Got it! Good explanation - you just wanted the pump located deeper in the water. My parents' house in central Ks had a similar cased well in the basement. Only ten feet to the water and it never changed in the 70 years they lived there. I recall the well was driven with a "sand point" - no drilling required. Howdy and thank you!!!! So yes, several wooden towers. As a windmiller, I cringe when I pull thru a gate and see a wooden tower. Beautiful but hard to work under and fish pipe up through………….

    • @nick540g
      @nick540g Před měsícem

      I've read some tips for installing wind turbines (to generate electricity) and getting them above the terrain is critical to keeping the electronics happy. Speed variation is hard on them and the higher you go, the cleaner the airflow. I suspect the same is true to a lesser degree for purely mechanical systems like windmill water pumps.

    • @OkieWindmiller
      @OkieWindmiller  Před měsícem

      I never have. Knock on wood! I have had to fish 2 wells, one a tornado caused the pipe to break and go down, the other I pulled a bolt from the pump rod and it all went down. Shouldn’t have happened, but the pump bottom had unscrewed itself, so when that happens, all the sucker rod will fall to the bottom of the well.
