Woolworths was a store in NY during my youth in the 1970s. There was even one in Mexico when I lived there in the 1990s. I haven't seen one in years. Supermarket and grocery store are both said in the US. Here in Florida Publix is the main supermarket besides Walmart.

The Semi in America 🇺🇸 , is also called a Tractor, a Truck or a bobtail. The trailer is the the part being pulled. Generally in the logistics industry when both are together are referred to as a tractor-trailer.
A lorry of that specific type is commonly referred to as an "artic" in the UK, short for "articulated lorry". We don't have the same meaning for the word "semi". If someone said something about "a semi", then depending on context it'd either be a reference to a semi-detached house, or else a rather vulgar expression to suggest a gentleman being "at half mast" if you get my drift!

In the USA we do call those big trucks tractor-trailers. For me a semi would be more the front.
In Australia we say cosies, swimmers, togs and bathers

In the US, we also say big rig and tractor trailer.
In Kansas it was Dillons where I used to work as a stocker and bagger back in highschool 😄 Then moving to Chicago, it was Dominick's. Miss those days working at the grocery store .. er I mean the supermarket .. 🤭😁

Im from the US and most of what Von said is what I've used and heard from where I'm from. For the truck, it depends on the truck. If there is not trailer and it is driving around, we call it a bobtail. It is also known as an 18 wheeler like Von mentioned. If it is a long haul driver, they call it a semi truck and if it is a day driver, a big rig. The binky has so many names that its mostly called a binky in my area. On the forest part, what the picture shows is a forest but if there isn't that much green and its more spaced out, we would call it the woods.
The US has both rhotic and non-rhotic speakers. It's regional.
That's true, but way more Americans are rhotic, and rhoticity is only expanding.
I'm non rhotic and from the Northeast. Speakers of aave are non rhotic typically as well and often times people forget that many Americans are non rhotic because they leave out minority dialects and regional dialects.

We still have Safeways in some places but I think all the Woolworth stores are gone. we use both grocery store and supermarket.

Walmart doesn't own ASDA anymore. Woolworths had stores in several nations for a long time, but they sold off the different divisions over time. I don't know for sure, but I think Australia is one of the only nations where Woolworths is still in business.
We don’t have Woolworths in New Zealand but we have Countdown which is owned by the same company. It has the same logo and everything. When you go to Australia it’s like you’ve gone to a parallel universe but the only difference is they decided to call Countdown as Woolworths instead. The stores are exactly the same except the name. For some reason they changed the name in New Zealand but they were originally called Woolworths here too.
Woolworths in the UK is actually unrelated to Woolworths in Australia. I believe Australian Woolworths has only ever had stores in Australia and New Zealand. The two companies have never been connected.

In my country, English education is basically based on American accent style.
So, Von's accent is easy to listen.

Drinking fountain, water fountain, etc. In Australia different states call it different things. Where I live it's a water fountain, but Bluey is set in Queensland.

I’m from Scotland but I have spent most of my life living in New Zealand. The interesting thing is for me I consider a “lorry” as a small truck. Like in between a van and a truck. I haven’t really used the word lorry since I moved here because that size truck doesn’t really exist here. We just have big ones here.

I grew up in Brisbane, and we always called them togs.
Depends on which part and what generation of Australia. In Perth, it's almost always called bathers and nothing else.
As an American, it's funny seeing a young person reminiscing about Woolworths. I think Woolworths in the UK originally started as a subsidiary of the Woolworth's chain here in the US and continued to do business long after Woolworth's in the US had gone out of business. I doubt anyone under 50 years old here in the US remembers Woolworth's stores.
Oh, people in their 40s like me can remember it as a small child in the US. :) I think the only place that has a Woolworths anymore is Australia.

I don't know why at the satrt of the video they mentioned they couldn't tell the differences between the UK and AU accents, they are quite different.
We call the vehicles like the Tesla, a truck. Smaller goods carrying vehicles are vans like the UK. And a Ute (for "Utility") for the smaller ones that Americans still call "trucks"
You can tell them apart but it’s hard to say what the actual differences are in the accent. Like I (usually) can tell if it’s an Australian accent or an English accent but I wouldn’t be able to tell you how I know it’s that accent. I don’t consciously know the differences in the accents. All I could say is it “sounds Australian” or “it sounds British”. I wouldn’t be able to point out specific things that made me thing that though.
As a singaporean who lived in england and currently resides in australia:

Funny that Lauren said they call everything big a "lorry", I used to follow a lot of UK dashcammers' YT channels and they used different names for different outfits: they called a HGV or a semi to a tractor and trailer, lorries were the single frame ones, either with a box or an open bed, and vans were... well, we all know what a van is.
To be fair if a man was asked, a "Semi" would be called an Artic normally, short for Articulated steering, next size down might just be called a lorry or a "7 and a half tonner" haha even though are bigger lorries inbetween. Generally, lorry would cover all bases aside above car/van licence though.
In the SE US that truck would be called: Tractor Trailer Truck, Big Truck, or semi. Typically if you say truck, it would be a pick-up truck you're talking about. But if you're clearly referencing a big truck you could just say truck. It could also be called other names based on the load it's hauling. e.g. Logging truck.
For eighteen whelker, .we have several terms for it , literally it's 18 wheeler because between the initial eight wheels, there's an additional ten on the trailer (the part that's hooked on the.Back becaus it trails behind the truck), and tractor is what holds the cargo and is on top of the trailer. We also call an 18 wheeler a big rig due to the fact that ehen the tractor and trailer are hooked up to the back of the truck 🚛, they are rigged up to the rig. Rig is also used when there's nothing hitched to the back of it. We the part that hitches a camper/RV or a trailer that carries a personal boat on the back of a pickup truck or SUV a trailer hitch because of big rigs.
The major grocery store/Supermarket corporate chains in the US are Amazon Fresh, Albertsons, Walmart, Safeway, Costco , Target and Kroger. And under their corporate ☔ s are stores like , Vons, Pavilions, Albertsons , Safeway Tom Thumb, United Supermarkets etc. Kroger, Ralph's, Food 4 , F Less, Fred Mayer, Baker's, Kroger Smith's, King Sooper, etc. Walmart and Sam's Club ( Sam's Club is the membership sister store to Walmart similar to Costco) . Under Amazon, there's Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, Bristol Farms and a few others. Some stores are regional for example , Ralph's , Food 4 Less( sister store to Ralph's and both were started in Southern California as was Trader Joe's which is owned a German company , Aldi Süd) Vons, Pavilions , Bristol Farms, Gelson's in are some supermarkets that are regional in Southern California While Safeway is found in Northern California, Arizona, Nevada and a few other states. Albertsons and Bristol Farms, and Whole Foods are in CA, TX abd a few others. Bristol Farms in California can be found throughout the state Kroger as a standalone supermarket can be found in TX, PA, the Carolinas, the Dakotas, Colorado , Oklahoma, the south east, Arizona etc. Fred Mayer is in Michigan.
In Tx, there's Kroger, HEB and Tom Thumb just to name a few.
Of course Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart Target can be found all over the country. I'm a SoCal native and have shopped in all of the stores listed and currently work at one.

Rhoticity in the context of English just refers to the presence of the "r" sound. It's not about the particular sound used for "r" compared to other languages. Rhotic forms of English are ones that include an "r" sound pretty much anywhere there is a letter "r" in the spelling. Non-rhotic forms of English are ones that only sometimes have an "r" sound where there is a letter "r".
For instance, the pronunciation of the word "horse" in rhotic US English might be /hɔɹs/ where a non-rhotic RP English accent would have /hɔːs/. Similarly where you have a written letter "r" on the end of a word, like "butter" or "favour", there will be an "r" sound pronounced in rhotic English accents, but not in non-rhotic ones. Non-rhotic accents still have some "r" sounds of course! Everyone puts an "r" sound in "red" or in "dragon". It's just that the non-rhotic accents often don't include the sound after vowels, whereas the rhotic accents do.
You're confusing rhoticity with trilling.
While the UK does have lots of accents, America also does to a lesser extent, and Australia to an even lesser extent. So if we’re going by the smaller areas should the American and Australian wear their state flag instead? The accent in California is very different to the accent in Texas or New York.
